Thank you for your nice words, I'm glad my review wasn't received with a snort of "oh my, another one". Not yet, at least, lol.
Yes, in the forest of depressing melodramas and insufferable characters going around lately, this fair of feisty people was a true joy to watch and support. :D

Thank you for your approval, dapina. As I said, there were great reviews already, but since I never thought I would join the club, it was a pleasure to be proved wrong. ;)

I loved it. I loved both the parallelism with what was happening between the two "modern" brothers, and the way the great uncle candidly confesses. It's incredibly human and understandable. I also loved the way the scene was shot, often taking the two men from the back, almost as to say: "this could be you, your uncle or your neighbour".
I believe the true strengh of this drama lies in those little moments of simple yet profound realization, mundane occurrences everybody can relate to.
I totally agree with your review, btw. :D
I am itching to write one myself, not because I've anything new to say, but because it was an incredibly sweet ride.
Hahaha, this article is hilarious and everything you write sounds incredibly familiar. I must get a cat, so that he can love me more. ;)
It also conjures up sweet memories of my first dramas, all watched in a row or two. Granted, they were Japanese, and I hadn't experimented yet the joys and pains of watching an airing drama with live debate attached. At times though, the discussion beats the drama, so I suppose marathoning is still the best thermometer to measure addiction and liking.
Thank you Rosie, it's been a true pleasure to read this. :D

As a token of my gratitude, here I come with a little recommendation: I'm currently watching reply 1997 and I'm enjoying it very much. I hadn't even put it in my ptw list: the synopsis put me off, fangirlism I usually hate and I tend to be very skeptical of dramas that top the charts even before they are over.
But I must say I was wrongly prejudiced. The drama reminds me a little of Shut Up Flower Boy Band. The plot is completely different, but the very natural acting, the familiar atmosphere and the "freshness" of it all are the same. The characters are truly growing on me, and the comedic is hilarious. The touching issues really are touching, without pretence.
You may want to give it a try, and if you do, please let me know what you think. :)

Thank you omni, I'm having a great time laughing aloud, with my unsuspecting husband asking me "is your translation a funny one this time?". Bless him, he truly thinks I'm working. :P

As for Innocent Man... did I mention you should never switch me on? Yes I did... you're warned... too late! ;)
The drama is depressing beyond redemption. There is not one moment respite, or genuine laughter. When one misfortune falls the next, a drama isn't even suspenseful anymore: it's predictable. And what's even worse, when tragic is constantly looming, I feel... anesthetized. I haven't felt a single pang of pity, or exultation, or empathy. My constant thought while watching was: "geez, what else?"
Mind you, I don't dislike tragic. A good story can be extremely tragic in the end, but it must go through some degrees, a growing in tension, reaching tragedy after joy.
Dramas aside, what are you studying in college? Do you like it? :)

Your wall is going to be a little confessional for me, Crazy. I can be dangerous when switched on. :P
1.confession: I started watching Bridal Mask some time ago and stopped 15 minutes in. I've never admitted it because I feared I could be skinned alive, but it didn't speak to me one bit. I know 15 minutes are not enough to judge and I may pick it up one day, but if I think about all the dramas I loved, they have one thing in common: I loved them at first sight. Therefore, you may be sure you have a very tolerant ear if you want to rant a little (I know you're not a ranter, you're too gentle hehe).
2. I am not at all cut for period dramas. The idea that LSG is going to act in one is depressing, because it means I'll skip it. I have tried so many times to start a Saeguk and invariably I get bored to death. I don't even know why: I love historical literature. But dramas... fat no for me.

In the meantime, I hug you very, very tight. I have missed you too. In fact, I have missed that breezy atmosphere there was among us all in the beginning of our café. I know it's egoistic of me, each one of us has a real life to face with all its ups and downs, but it felt as though we were all... young and carefree. Not that I was that young, but age is a feeling, after all, isn't it?
Kisses :D

...which may or may not be a good thing.
Yes, the profile page is now full of new features. You can post pictures, gifs, videos, whatever you want. And of course, as I tried to explain in the meagre presentation, too much choice always constitutes a problem for me. Too much = too little. Escher felt perfect to regain some perspective, by offering all possible views of the same reality - if this makes any sense. :P
But tell me more about you, my friend. How was your summer? Did you go to Paris in the end? What are you doing now?
By the way, I'm sure you know you can pm me here too, in case. :D

Yours must be the most beautiful profile picture I've seen in a very long time: while you're lost in the dreamlike meanders of Escher, I may pop in that picture of yours and hug the child... if he lets me, that is. ;) I truly love it.
And you must have some psychic power, because I have been thinking a lot about you lately. I could have translated my thoughts into action and finally write you - it was long due - if my brain weren't, as usual, living a life of its own in some bubble out of space and most of all out of time. The only reason why I'm aware it's the end of october, is that soon Christian and I are going on holiday, first to France and then to the Netherlands, to visit family and friends.
I haven't been much around the pretties' either, except for a few posts now and then. My drama watching has slowed down considerably too...

Literary influences are crucial to a good writing. All great writers lived and worked on the influence of at least a few writers before them, so I wouldn't be afraid of it, my friend. :)
Good work!
Very interesting article, addicted. :) I don't think we will ever have a clear answers as to why we should support…
True. In real life the only sons of huge assents are seldom good-looking, lol. ;)
Just kidding, of course... of perhaps not. ;)
P.S. Isn't there a way to like the article without doing it via facebook or twitter?

I will! :) By episode 7, I too already have a favourite part: Shi Won's mother's speech to the drama writer about the power she holds in creating characters and their destiny. It is an issue I've been thinking about a lot lately and have written an article about (not posted yet). I found the timing incredibly emblematic and the way it was done very touching.
Like you, it's not so much the love stories I'm interested in, but the light yet profound way every-day issues are presented here.
This drama reminds me a lot of some Italian dramas - shows nobody outside my country is ever going to see. It's rooted in the culture of that country, but it all seems very much familiar to me (with some notable exceptions which add to the exotism, lol).

It's not an earth-shattering drama, but it's so simple, sweet, well acted, believable and in general refreshing I am addictes to those characters, mostly the female heroine, she's just adorable, silly antics and all! :)
Thanks for recommending. :D

I don't think we will ever have a clear answers as to why we should support the bad guy - who, as you rightly say, mostly gets the girl. The drama production is always astute enough to present us with hot hunks, who could probably be serial killers and fans would support them anyway. The average viewer confuses the ACTOR with the CHARACTER he plays and is ready to forgive him because... he's stirring our hormones.
Proof of how a drama can manipulate us is the average heroine. She's seldom a woman we would chose as role model: she's either clumsy, or whiny, or needlessly sacrificing. However, we end up identifying with her because she had the power to make two hot guys fall for her.
In real life, and with average looking people, we would simply support the best matched couple.

Hahaha, I'm fine with the double date: any time. ;)
You reminded me of something interesting I read once about the Bronte Sisters. Due to their popularity after writing Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, Emily and Charlotte were asked what they thought about Jane Austen. Emily replied that there can't be any romance when the characters are too funny. Austen's characters and their interaction where always deluted with too much irony, hence defeating the object of passion and the essence of love, which in their opinion went through "tempests and ardent feelings".
I think Austen was a little too rational for what was later called "romantic". It fits me perfectly, I suppose, as much as the tempests fit you. :)
Both positions have their value, and most of all can live together in perfect harmony, as we are proof of. :D
