I'm not sure how you will feel about the FL. She kind of has the cutesy act going on. She speaks with a nasal, aegyo voice. Her personality is smart and cunning though.
I know Li Yi Tong did the dubbing herself. She has a naturally deeper voice, so she had to force the nasality to fit the character, and it took her a long time to find the right pitch. I appreciate her efforts, and I have a high tolerance for baby voices, so I don't have much of a problem. But if you don't like childish voices, blame the Chinese drama industry XD
I love her deep husky voice a lot more actually. I wish they let her use her original voice. Who said playful, cheerful people can't have deep voices? Lol
Are you waiting until next week to watch it on the normal schedule? That's what I'm planning to do for now. If…
I'm also not keen on watching the remaining episodes in one go. At this point I'm really disappointed that they ruined my favorite novel. I'm not sure if it's the censorship or bad writing, but protagonists are not allowed to do bad things apparently. There goes the message of moral grayness of the og story.
I haven't watched the ending, but I heard they ruined it again by NOT following the novel. I don't know if it's…
While LYF was having memory loss, he injured CZ to the point that she had to abandon her body and join with the demon sword. This made her become the sky demon, with greater powers. Before the final battle, LYF remembered her again and realized his mistake. But since the war had already started, and CZ was planning to unseal all the demons, he had no choice but to fight her. He equipped the soul binding thread on himself that inflicts the same damage on himself if he hurts anyone. If he killed CZ, he would also die, so it means he was planning on dying together.
In the end, CZ turned on Wang Yue and did not unleash the demons. She saved the entire world. Everyone was shocked and realized they had wronged her. But since she no longer had a body, she would die once the sword's powers ran out. She recalled the deal she made with Wang Yue before, that if she found where his eyes were, he would grant her a wish. She correctly guessed that his eye was the ring he was wearing, but her wish was to repair the underwater tunnel instead of getting herself a new body.
Wang Yue offered her to leave with him so she could live in the other dimension without having to die. At this point, LYF went completely insane due to his heart poison and became a demon. He refused to let CZ leave him, so he hugged her and they joined the sword together. CZ had already lost her will to live or die. She was indifferent about everything. Buddhist outlook. LYF activated the Mirror Heart Spell to purify the sword, thus killing himself and CZ. The resulting sword was one that was neither immortal or demon.
After several hundred years, we see them together again (like the extra episode). It turns out Wang Yue revived them. He's a good person after all, just like he always said. LYF and CZ still had supernatural powers but they were no longer classified as immortal or demon. They were "undefined" (just like every one of us), and they lived in the purified sword for a few hundred years before they cultivated new bodies. Happy ending with LYF and CZ talking in the street market about going back home to have sex for 2 hours.

The thing I loved about the novel ending was the symbolism. CZ made the most sacrificial choice (to save the world) although she was a demon, while LYF made the most selfish choice (to keep CZ by his side even if it meant she would die) although he was an immortal. They complete the yin yang circle of being mirror images of each other. The ending is about them achieving an equilibrium state where both good and evil coexist in their sword.
The act of LYF using the Mirror Heart Spell to purify the evil aura AFTER he became a demon is also a symbolism of the dual nature of good and evil. The Mirror Heart Spell removes evil, but he could only activate it when his obsession was at its peak, and he used it for a selfish reason. That's the irony of it.
I haven't watched the ending, but I heard they ruined it again by NOT following the novel. I don't know if it's because of censorship or what. I'm just soooo mad right now. How could they just change stuff and make it worse?
I would say it's a decent drama to pass your time. It's a bit slow paced, each case takes a little longer than it should to get solved, while the main plot is intriguing but very slowly unfolding in the background. The leads have good chemistry, love their daily bickering, but they still haven't confessed by ep. 28.
I'm enjoying this drama for it's twists and humor. I'm also curious about what will happen next. I just feel like the writers are not giving themselves enough time to deal with the big stakes that have yet to unravel.
why did he accept her as his student again if he loves her romantically?
He accepted her as a disciple BECAUSE he loves her romantically😂 He thinks it's the only way he can keep her by his side forever. Since she has evil aura, she will either be used by demons or harmed by immortals if she is left alone. LYF had thought about letting her live a normal life as a human and never seeing her again, but later on he found out how to master the Mirror Heart Spell, so he had his hopes up again. He thought that as long as he could purify her aura, then he could be with her forever. That's why he changed his mind and decided to take her in as disciple again, to keep her close while mastering the spell.
I came across a spoiler from the original writer:[SPOILER ALERT].......The torch flame that went missing in Qi…
According to the writer, people might have to kill her to take it out. Not sure if there's another way, but this drama has a happy ending so they must have come up with something in the end.
I came across a spoiler from the original writer:[SPOILER ALERT].......The torch flame that went missing in Qi…
I don't remember which episode, but there was a brief introduction to the relations between the two kingdoms. It was said that the Qi kingdom lost something called a torch flame that was used to regulate their climate. As a result, their mountains became very difficult to live in and that's why they have to depend on Qian's resources. If they had the torch, they wouldn't have had to depend on Qian. So later on in the story, the ML will face a dilemma between his people and his lover.
This drama has a happy ending though so I don't know how they will end up solving the problem.
This drama has an interesting sense of humor. Each episode had something that unexplainably cracked me up, even though I didn't rationally think it was that funny. I was just cackling and smiling throughout. It is subtly hitting me in the right spots XDDD
I am up to episode 13. People seem to recognize Qi whenever plot needs them to comment on the leads as Qi-Qian…
Yeah, I'm also confused why sometimes they can recognize Qi people and sometimes they cannot. I guess we can't look too much into the details into the plot, otherwise it's a light and fun watch.
I was just thinking earlier that we should all pick a show and keep up our comments on a different drama after…
Hey I'm glad I could help out on something! :) It was really fun watching LBFAD while it was airing every week and discussing with everyone in real-time. We came up with different theories and predictions. I didn't used to be active on MDL comments section until I realized how fun it is after that drama.
If only they communicated that straightforwardly, there would be zero misunderstandings! If I were Chong Zi, I…
Haha progressive much XDDD And those guys REALLY get along despite all loving the same person. They'd make a great harem. And if we count Wang Yue and Wan Jie in, that would be 6 people. Chong Zi still has a Sunday off🤣🤣🤣
they didn't kiss (or consummate?) so the marriage isn't complete but she drank the wine and made her vows so she…
For the world building, at least Luo Ge and Luo Ning would still be canon even if ZH dies, because they're descendants of LYF's son instead of daughter. But I do hope that Zhuo Hao lives, fingers crossed!
That's the point of the story though. Master-disciple romance is a type of age gap romance. For people who don't like age gaps, this would simply not be their genre.

Would be simple if that's the case tho

The torch flame that went missing in Qi kingdom is inside the FL's body. To retrieve it, the FL needs to be killed.
