Ok I’m going to be completely honest here even though some people may not like it. So it doesn’t take much…
Everyone has a different taste, so it's hard for me to tell if you'll like it or not. If you go in without any expectations, you might get something good out of it. The characters are mostly not likeable, with a selected few fan favorites that either die off prematurely or don't get as much screen time. The ending is an open ending but there's a short special episode with a happy ending. You really have to try and see for yourself if you like it or not, especially when this is a drama that has mixed reviews.
He accepted her as a disciple BECAUSE he loves her romantically😂He thinks it's the only way he can keep her…
Master and disciple relationship is not a taboo in this drama. The reason he pushed her away when she confessed in her first life was because he found out she had Heart Poison. He was unsure about the nature of her feelings and thought she mistook dependency as love or was affected by the poison. He was also confused about his own feelings at that time.
In her second life, being his disciple was the easiest way to have her back by his side again, since CZ has no collection of her past and they are starting from square one. His priority was to master the Mirror Heart Spell to purify her aura so she can stay with him forever. The romance can just develop organically as long as those more important things have been dealt with.
I still think this drama did better than Song of the Moon adaptation from the novel Fly to the Moon..It was such…
I don't think she said anything else about it. People asked her about her thoughts pretty early on, before things were this bad, and that's the only time she commented.

I couldn't even finish Song Of The Moon. I dropped it early on when I saw how bad the storytelling and editing were. I thought it was worse than TJOCZ since ep.1. I also heard that it almost cut out the entirety of Wang Yue's character, even though he was the main character of the og novel. That's just awful. Very disrespectful to the source material. Wang Yue is the author's favorite character, and the most interesting character in that universe. He is THE multi-faceted anti-hero. I'm also glad we got to see a bit of that in TJOCZ.
LOOOL Wang Yue, a GOD, got sealed by CZ in 3 seconds. How does that make any sense? Worst writers I've seen in a long time. Even web dramas occasionally have better writing than this. Jeez.
Despite the negativity in all these reviews, I'd like to give a huge shout out to the cast who gave their all into this performance, the meticulous costume designers, the set/props managers and the talented music producers who made the scenes a lot more bearable with the great soundtrack. Anyone who's not a director, writer or editor did an amazing job trying to hold this product together.
Edit: I saw somewhere that the makeup artist of this drama only had half a year of training and had no prior experience. Wtf. How much money were they trying to save for this project?
The most painful thing about watching this shipwreck is imagining the potential it could have lived up to. If it was straight up 💩 I wouldn't have even tried, but it was 💩 that masked itself as my favorite brand of chocolate.
Yeah I'm also confused about that part. Doesn't the ring indicate he is behind all this? It was never mentioned…
But what about the ring the eunuch was wearing? Wasn't that shown to be the same ring HZ saw in a previous episode when he was fighting a masked person?
Are you waiting until next week to watch it on the normal schedule? That's what I'm planning to do for now. If…
I'm just heartbroken now. I should've known that censorship is the strictest it has ever been in 20 years. And with such an awful director and writers, there was no way they could have come up with good ideas to write around this mess. I took a quick skim through the ending just now, it's the WORST ending (and has the worst filming techniques) I've seen in an S tier drama in a long time. Miss The Dragon had a shipwreck of an ending, but it was still better shot than this. OMG director, if you don't know how to film this kind of drama, please don't even TRY. It should be criminal.
LYF's decision made ZERO SENSE given his character motivations. WHAT THE HECK. And when I saw CZ still wearing white clothes in the last 15 mins of the show, I knew they ruined the epic final battle. The trailer for this drama was false advertising. Gimme my grand finale back. How could they do this to me? HOWWWW... *eyes turn red*👿🔥🗡
where did you hear about the ending? I haven't seen preview on wetv. At this point the ending doesn't matter anymore…
I haven't watched the ending yet, but I heard from other novel fans that they ruined it by not following the novel. I think they removed a lot of the details that made the whole thing emotionally complex.
Some people have paid for the express package so they get to watch all the remaining episodes in one go.
In the novel, Zhuo Hao never became a demon for CZ. He married Min Su Qiu in a political marriage. Min Su Qiu was jealous of CZ and tried to harm her, but died in the process. Zhuo Hao reflected on his own immaturity and concluded that he had wronged his wife for neglecting her and only thinking about CZ. He found Min Su Qiu in her next life and they got a happy ending. Novel Zhuo Hao is more mature than drama Zhuo Hao. They just had to dumb down his character to make him an affectionate and loyal love interest.
I love how in the novel version of the final battle, Zhuo Hao came and showed CZ the star constellation spell for the last time. In the drama, they had him show her that prematurely and in a very underwhelming way, I think it was when Min Yunzhong tried to push her down the tower without LYF knowing.
I'm not watching this drama but I love reading your comments lol
This comments section has a thicker plot than the actual drama. We start with hope that things will get better, then we gradually have our hopes shattered, and as we cry in agony, we start having evil thoughts to the writers. The story ends with us feeling indifferent about life and moving on. The drama had us go through the five stages of grief🤣🤣🤣
