Like you, I had read the novel and at times I do feel the plots should go the way the novel was written. But understanding the strict censorship and other limitations which CCP imposes, I'm going to let it go. However, the drama did give us a different perspective and clearer pictures than our imagination can perceived through the author's description in the novel, especially with such awesome acting from these group of actors. Being Gong Jun, Reba or LYN, the rest of the cast did a great job in bringing the characters to live. I'm giving it a 9 out 10 being minus 1 for bad lighting filters and CGI. Definitely rewatching again!

The master sacrifice one of his disciples's heart and transplanted his heart to HY. In order to do that, he had to stop his blood flow (using qi movement and acupuncture techniques) frm pumping into his heart and some imbalancing of blood flow resulted a blood clot in his brain that made him blind. The master knew it's temporary but he couldn't undo the blood clot until he's much healthier. While the master went off to treat the other people, Mo Shuang took care of HY and HY left to see his dying father before the master came back. Much later, the master actually went to undo HY's blood clot but the master died after excessive fatigue and losing qi. HY regained his visionin time to rush to Wen Shou Yuanqin wedding which he thought it's DZY LMX wedding. So, no flower involved!!

There're many things that HY did for DZY that might not make it to the screen... The most touching for me was when DZY was badly injured in one battle, HY actually draw his own blood out and filled it in a few sachets (so that she can be fed on when he was at war) to be added on to her medications. Apparently. HY's blood was very highly potent that his body can resist most poison. His blood kept her alive until the doctor managed to treat her.
