Again you're basing this off hindsight. At the time all Prince Jin and Shen Yi knew was he killed one person. No one else. It's fine if you want to believe they should have exposed him, but everyone else in the comments here seems to be trying to tell you different. It's ok though, you're entitled to your opinion, that's what the comments are for. You call him mad and that he would kill everybody, so do you not see a problem with trying to force him to abdicate or usurp like you said? Don't you think he would kill a lot more people if you tried to do that? Anyway, it's fine if you disagree with everyone else in the comments, you're free to have your own opinion and views. That's what the comment section is for.

You say everyone knew it and covered it up but not really. Prince Jin, Shen Yi, then along the way empress dowager and the empress (don't know when they found out). 4 people knew, thats it. And he wasn't mad until the end, when he really wanted to get rid of CP and Prince Cheng. Yes he killed people and he was a murderer, but that doesn't make him mad. He killed the princess who saved his life and many others to protect his identity, it was paranoia, not madness. Empress dowager even said he was a good emperor. To the people and the ministers he was a good emperor. Yes they could have exposed him, but that would have led to a civil war, the emperor definitely would still have supporters and troops. And then they mentioned in the drama, such a thing would allow the enemies along the border to invade. Theres no perfect decision, either way many lives would have been lost. Shen Yi and Prince jin made the decision based on what they thought would be best, there was no perfect decision. Like @Noy said they chose what was bets for the country, they chips to sacrifice a few lives for the best of many lives. Yes it's not a perfect decision, but it's the best decision they could make at the time. Also wroth points out, Prince Jin and Shen Yi did not know he was a fake emperor, they thought he just killed consort jin, they didn't know he was the emperor's twin, that killed the old emperor.
This drama is very interesting and I can't wait for the next episodes. Question: Why didn't ML go visit his family…
In the novel and donghua he went back and watched his sister get married from far away, and left money etc. They left this out, but still he never talked or visited them again. This is because he knew the moment he started the cultivation journey, they lived in different worlds. He would be surrounded by danger, he would live for centuries, he would be a cultivator, while his family stayed as mortals. So he didn't want to endanger them, but also he sort of wanted to cut off the connection with them and the mortal world, because from the moment he started cultivating, he was no longer a mortal. He left his old world behind. His driving force is simply to get stronger and live longer. He's got no special reason, he just doesn't want to waste his life, he wants to grow stronger and try to live as long as possible. Edit: Seems the scene of him visiting home and watching his sister get married from afar will be in ep 7. Glad they included it, I think it's an important scene of him fully committing to the cultivation world and severing his ties to the mortal world.

I understand you think that would have been better and everyone can have their own opinions, but a couple points First, he wasn't a mad king, the empress dowager even said he was a better ruler than the old emperor. Yes he killed people, but he wasn't a mad king until the very end. To the people and the ministers he was a good ruler. Even after his death, he was seen as good ruler to the people, not a mad king. Second, you think he would just let Prince Jin and the Shen family gain support, spread rumors and force him to abdicate? He killed Prince Jin and the Shen family because they knew they knew the truth. Prince Jin was jailed immediately after finding Consort Jin because he knew the truth. He didn't have time to gain support to force the king to abdicate, the only person he talked to was Shen Yi. Even if he was fairly new he was the emperor. You think he would be forced to abdicate without a fight? Think about all the people he killed to hide his secret. If he found out people were trying to force him to abdicate, how many more people you think he would have killed. You saw how loyal Prince Rui was til the end, even when he knew he was being slandered and not trusted. You think Prince Rui would have allowed the emperor to abdicate, let alone someone usurp him. And if he did abdicate, who would take his place? Prince Rui didn't want it, and no one else would be suitable. Hindsight is 20/20, since we know what happened we can say, maybe it would have been better if Shen Yi exposed the truth. But he didn't know the future. He could only do what he thought was best in the moment.
Because they don't want to admit to the world the emperor was fake. Only a few people know, but for the rest of…
Yes that's true, but the normal people and the ministers of the palace don't know the emperor was fake. They all think the emperor was real, so they made Yan Sui emperor because the ML and FL didn't want to reveal the truth the everyone else. The ML and FL want everyone else to think the emperor was real, they don't want people to know he was fake.
Personally, I never really liked that style of animation, the 3d animation of some donghua, same as you, but after…
Yeh I definitely agree, before 2020 a bit rough, but as you get more modern the animation just gets better. At first I wasn't used to 3d so it threw me off a bit, but once you get use to it I agree, it clears most Japanese anime. It just looks so realistic and clean. I'm a big fan of Sparkly, as I really like swallowed star as well, but haven't seen much of Sherman I won't lie.
I’m heading there later today, but I still have to wrap my mind around a review. This is probably gonna take…
hahaha true, typica behavior from them. And decades of studying serial killers comes really interesting, must relate a lot of that to many cdrama characters, especially those in similar genres as this drama.
Ikr, for such a well known actor, hopefully he comes back, but since I know you like spoilers, unfortunately in…
Definitely got a lot to watch now, I'm probably going to settle on watching immortal ascension and check out sword and rose. Also heard legend of female general might come out in august after deep affection eyes but who knows right now. Still, got a lot to watch. Good luck with your review.
Why Yan Li didn't get throne?? He is legitimate son of Yan Han (fake emperor). In reality he is also royal blood.…
Because they don't want to admit to the world the emperor was fake. Only a few people know, but for the rest of the world and the ministers/nobles etc, he was the real emperor not a fake. So Yan Sui, would be next in line as he's seen as the only remaining blood of the emperor.

I'm the same, I like when a normally bad guy plays a good guy. I'm watching the kdrama law and city just as a casual watch, and last episode had an actor that normally only plays bad roles, play a good one and it was refreshing to see him play a good one. So same situation here. Would be nice if he comes back just for a bit.
I know this thing probably has a whole ton of actors and characters and what not but I do hope that HL will reunite…
Ikr, for such a well known actor, hopefully he comes back, but since I know you like spoilers, unfortunately in the novel, he's mentioned but never seen again, as far as I can remember.
This show makes me want to watch the donghua… but I really don’t like that style of digital animation. Does…
Personally, I never really liked that style of animation, the 3d animation of some donghua, same as you, but after I started watching it, I got really used to it, and the quality did get better in my opinion. Also I think some scenes and episodes looked super, super realistic, and that made me get more used to it and into the donghua.

Yeh ikr like he was surprised all of a sudden that people actually wanted revenge against him, like ofcourse after you've killed so many people, of course they are people out there that want revenge
It's going to take some time. Story has been ongoing for many years. Idk how they will cover up all that story…
Yeh honestly neither. The donghua looks so realistic like the animation, some scenes look so real. Not that I'm complaining they made a live action though. So far looks pretty good and the cgi looks really well done. I would love a sequel that just properly covers the whole thing, but you know with the high profile cast and expensive budget idk if it will happen. But we can always hope, like you said if it's a hit we can hope.

They won't, won't be even close, the novel has 2400+ chapters. I think they'll stop at the donghua part where he uses the ancient portal array, but that's just my guess. Either way they're gonna have to have an open ending I think. But looking forward to seeing how much they cover. Big fan of the donghua as well.
