I'm not a big fantasy fan so I felt quite normal that they wrote the fantasy part this way. The Hong Sisters are…
I agree with you that there was a world-building in AoS, but it was very poorly done. Like I said, none of the spells were properly explained and the visual effects were all so similar that I couldn't tell them apart. I know there are tons of fan written articles explaining them in more details, but if the writers had done a better job, they wouldn't be necessary. If you want to build a world from scratch, then you should explain everything to the public, because literally everything is brand new, nobody knows the rules, the aspects of things, anything. It was all just a blur to me, therefore I couldn't enjoy it half as much as I thought I would. If this was supposed to be "high fantasy", then the writing should be twice as good as "low fantasy" dramas, you can't use the excuse that it's more difficult to write it to justify it being badly written (again, it's MY opinion and perception). I'm currently watching season 2, being more familiar with the AoS universe is definitely helping and I'm not as confused as in season 1, but I still have many questions.
A very easy watch. Not a masterpiece, but if you want to turn off your brain and watch something sweet, it's the perfect option. Nothing more, nothing less.

I honestly liked second couple a lot more than main couple, maybe their chemistry is better on season 2 with the different actress. If you're looking for good fantasy kdramas, I definitely recommend Mystic Pop-Up Bar, Hotel del Luna, Goblin and 49 Days. These are the definition of fantasy done right, and their universes are well written and super interesting.
This! Had so many times I started watching again for 4/6 ep and then drop it again. There are to many boring parts…
If I remember it correctly, zombie girl stays until the end... She was one of the few characters that made me want to finish this, honestly it's so boring. Since you've got this far, try to watch the rest at a 1.5x or 2x speed, that's what I did lol

I love western fantasy movies as well, but there are many fantasy kdramas that kick ass... not this one though, that's why I can't understand the hype. And the romance is also not strong tbh hahaha this drama is so bland in every aspect (in my opinion, of course), there are dramas here that are rated 7.5 and I enjoyed them way more than this one, so we can't really rely on rates
I feel like I should have liked this more? I don't hate it, but it's honestly just a bland sageuk/fantasy drama like many others I've watched, and the fantasy part isn't even good. They created this whole magical universe and didn't even bother to explain how the spells work. "Ohh he has reached Chisu" "I can't believe he has reached Ryusu" like... this means nothing to me lol They explained them for like 2 seconds and expect us to understand how all the spells work? Maybe being a Netflix drama made this one more popular due to the big marketing budget and of course the easy access to the millions of people with a Netflix subscription, but like... it's nothing special? Sorry, I can't understand the hype. Maybe season 2 will be better
I expected so little from this drama... and it turned out to be SO GOOD!!! I'd give it a 9/10 but I gave it a 9.5/10 just for exceeding all my expectations! Cha Hyeon/Scarlett is now one of my favorite drama characters of all time. I could relate so much to her sense of justice and how she stands up for her friends. Unfortunately I don't kick ass as well as she does lol
So was that little boy that came to the family home the son or did she lie
I think that will always remain a mystery... or a forgotten plot hole. To be honest I wish the boy wasn't his, because Kang Jae was a shitty person at that point and the poor boy would have just been traumatized.
What an amazing ride! I would definitely recommend to skip all Kang Jae's scenes til episode 35 or so, because he's literally the worst, but the rest is 100% enjoyable and I'm gonna miss this family so freaking much!!!
Wasted potential. The whole idea behind the plot is genius, the universe created was awesome, the actors did a great job, but the editing was really bad. Things happened out of nowhere, it seems like they deleted a lot of scenes from the final cut and many things didn't make any sense because of that. At first I thought it was a problem with the plot, but it became clear it was the editing.
I can't believe there are literally hundreds of boring cdramas with empty plots that have like 36 episodes of 45 minutes and this GEM with a super interesting plot, great chemistry and complex characters only get 18 episodes of 10-12 minutes each... if this was turned into a full length drama, it would be a freaking hit
Thankss for your info…will surely check these out. After watching ‘W’ I don’t think I will ever find any…
Personally, I like Serendipity better. The only problem is that I wanted more episodes! hahaha Extraordinary You is unique and also a favorite, it was the first drama I ever rewatched. Hope you enjoy the dramas!
I love stories where fictional charcters come to life. If anyone has any recommendations on stories like this, they'd be welcome. (I recommend Serendipity, W, Extraordinary You, To Get Her)
The first half is super boring, but don't give up. The second half is AMAZING and the drama really picks up the pace when the villains start paying for their sins. I'm glad I didn't drop it, it was extremely satisfying.
Literally a snooze fest. They could've invested more in the Night Warrior's plot, it was the only vaguely interesting thing in this drama. FL is annoying and puts herself and the ML in danger multiple times due to her stupidity. ML is super handsome, so at least it was worth watching for the eye candy. Wouldn't recommend this one if you have something else to watch.
