The show is very geo-restricted on Gaga, it's available only for Southeast Asia, the rest of the world should…
It's normal that if more than one streaming plattforms are supposed to air a show worldwide, that they devide the territories among themselves. In this case, Gaga got only the streaming rights for Southeast Asia and Viki for the rest of the world, except Japan and South Korea, which have their own plattforms.
Personally, I was not happy about it at all, because I don't have Viki and like you, I can't understand why Gaga got the rights for every single Chinese BL that aired this year worldwide, but not for To My Shore. All of the others aired on Gaga worldwide, no exception, only the best one (in my humble opinion) is so restricted. Thankfully, I have VPN and still can watch there.
I have no idea how well it's performing on Viki, maybe someone who watches it there can say. My point was that it's obvious why it's not on Gaga's list if they've excluded North and South America, Europe, all of Asia except Southeast Asia and Australia from watching it there. It's not because the show isn't liked or good. It's also a new show that people who prefer to binge a series haven't even started yet.
GaGa announced the best ones, and TMS wasn't even on the list. That was the first thing I saw when I woke up this…
The show is very geo-restricted on Gaga, it's available only for Southeast Asia, the rest of the world should watch on Viki. If I didn't have VPN, I wouldn't be able to watch it there. You cannot compare it with shows that are available on Gaga only, worldwide, like the Japanese BLs. Also, it only came out a month ago.
I can't believe this series isn't getting even 1/3rd of the attention given to ABO Desire. Both has same premise-…
I think it's a little deliberate on their part in order to avoid the craziness of some fans like it happened with Revenged Love and ABO Desire. There was no big promotion. The three YouTube videos on their channel have no subtitles and they never posted anything after the trailer. Also, they have not toned Fan Xiao's character down in order to make him more popular, which might lose some watchers along the way. I'm not on social media that much, but from what I've seen on Facebook, the series is still popular enough. Personally, it's my favourite BL series this year, even if it's not finished yet. Everyone who would give it a chance would see that it's way better than ABO Desire.
The talk about the leads' looks are crazy, because as someone who's read the book, I can see that they've put a lot of effort to cast the right type - the charming, attractive, very impressive Fan Xiao and the elegant, handsome, graceful You Shulang.
I haven't read the novel, so I don’t know how it ends, but the only ending I'd consider "good" is if…
He deserves real consequences, like jail time or something equally severe, and he needs to genuinely learn his lesson before I could even BEGIN to see him as redeemable.
Spoiler: (extra space if you don't want it so you can skip):
In this case, you should keep watching, you might get your wish. ;)
We've entered the era I barely managed to go through in the book, i.e. Fan Xiao at his worst in the open. Somehow, he was colder, more detached from what he was doing and ever more horrible in the adaptation than I remember.
I've seen all episodes at least three times so far, but I don't think I'll be rewatching episodes 10 and 11 and probably 12, depending on when this will be ending. Today's episode was for me, as someone who adores You Shulang to pieces, simply torturous to watch.
Zhang Chen is still the character whom I hate the most, by far. One of my most proudest times in regards to Shulang was when he finally broke off all bridges with him. BTW, this is the first big change they've made from the book - making Zhang Chen threaten to jump off a bridge instead of a building. Very good analogy here, even if it wasn't deliberate on their part.
No one is talking about shi lihua...he is really loyal to fan xiao....if ride or die was a person it is definitely…
Yes, it's remarkable how loyal of a friend he was. When he thought Fan Xiao wanted to play with Shulang, he supported him. When he realized Fan Xiao was in love with Shulang, he also supported him. Whatever Fan Xiao wants, Shi Lihua would help.
Nooo😭😭😭😭😭😭In the coming days I should cry for Fan Xiao with one eye and defend him in comments…
There were very few times when I felt sorry for Fan Xiao and the jail time wasn't it (also, let's not forget that his horrible family went down with him, and they deserved it as much and he was happy about it), but the accident with the motorcycle and Shulang's non-reaction was indeed one of them. However, he did tell him later to stop driving said motorcycle, so he still cared, only showed it differently.
The time skip was necessary, there's no way they could've reconciled otherwise. Shulang had to find out by himself that he still loved Fan Xiao, and given the circumstances, he needed the time.
I absolutely support both actors, they are amazing! I'm so happy they've kept the adaptation so close to the source material!
Nooo😭😭😭😭😭😭In the coming days I should cry for Fan Xiao with one eye and defend him in comments…
But Fan Xiao was never poor, he went to work and earn his own money on his own. It was his own wish. His money was still there. He never complained about having to work, on the contrary, he was proud of achieving something on his own. How is that a bad thing and why should You Shulang be blamed for it?
The jail time was deserved, and Fan Xiao was the one who practially sent the e-mail by using You Shulang's hand. You Shulang wouldn't have done it on his own. He had the possibility to do it way earlier and never did. I wouldn't have blamed him even if he had, with the way Fan Xiao had him trapped.
Fan Xiao had good reasons being the way he is, but unfortunately, another person had to suffer because of it, a lot. Fortunately, You Shulang is strong and clever and could deal with it and fight against it. Exactly this is what makes the story so different and so much better than all comparable stories in which one of the characters is a red flag. I woud've never accepted them as a couple if You Shulang hadn't been as strong as he is and made Fan Xiao pay. It's so great to finally have a MC who won't just take the bad guy back with just a slap on his hand.
Spoiler: yes, You Shulang will beat Fan Xiao because he'll find out that he's been the one to sexually assault…
Yes, You Shulang helps him one last time with that female client, and then he'll ask Lu Zhen to show him the pieces of the portrait Fan Xiao painted of him in order to see what Fan Xiao wrote on it. After that, Lu Zhen is just gone from the narrative. He is shortly mentioned in the very last extra of the novel, but this is it for him. He acknowledges his mistakes and never tries to get Shulang back, because he feels he doesn't deserve him.
To be honest, I don't understand why Lu Zhen and Shi Lihua are listed as mains. They aren't. There are two main characters, the rest are supporting ones.
I think you shu lang beat fan xiao only when he finds out that fan xiao gave him the drugs and harassed him. Maybe…
Spoiler: yes, You Shulang will beat Fan Xiao because he'll find out that he's been the one to sexually assault him while he was unconscious and then played the concerned friend the next day. For the betrayal and the lies, it was enough to throw Fan Xiao out and break up with him, but the assault is a different thing entirely and he will not let it slide without making Fan Xiao pay.
They are following the book very closely. Shulang and Lu Zhen will meet one last time and then Lu Zhen will disappear completely, unless they've changed something, but I don't think so.
It's no wonder years of therapy haven't helped cure Fan Xiao's trauma, because his misery and contempt for the rest of the world are so great that he would even deliberately sabotage and hurt himself in order to show how nasty he is and boast about it to his horrible friends and hurt the honest, caring, generous person he loves in the processs. He's been miserable and unloved his whole life so the pain he feels himself and the fact that he's a pervert no one loves doesn't matter, he's used to it. Falling in love is bound to change that, but he has to discover for himself what it means for the person he loves to want to have nothing to do with him and to despise him like the rest of the world.
The truth is, Fan Xiao doesn't know how to love, because no one has loved him except for his mother who's been dead for a long time, and he needs to learn what this means, and the process is long and painful. Unfortunately, it will be long and painful for poor You Shulang, too, because no normal person would ever want to be loved by someone like Fan Xiao.

My love for You Shulang has no boundaries, and if you want to know why he's the best, this is the episode to pay attention to. <3

You Shulang did absolutely the right thing by not taking him back without making him realize how horrible he's been.

Hao Yi Ran outdid himself in this episode. <3
