No. The second couple has been cut, for very good reasons.
He gets better as the story progresses. ;) I mean, the drugging was planned together with Fan Xiao and Shi Lihua, and Xue Baotian will be the one to drop the ball to Shulang about not being the only one involved in it. He's not worse than Fan Xiao or Shi Lihua.
And a "partner", at least in this book, is very far-fetched. I was not joking about the multiple rape.
No. The second couple has been cut, for very good reasons.
They are irrelevant for the plot, too, and very randomly thrown in there. It's Xue Baotian (the one who participated in Shulang's drugging the first time and made him drink all the glasses for that girl) and a young guy called Zhang Chi. I tihink they have their own novel.
SPOILER!!! i need it. Please be kind and give it to me why?I open all spoilers under your comment and all were…
Just watch episode 6, it will tell you a lot. But basically, I hated him because he was a weak, cowardly, whiny, snivelling gambler, a leech and a cockroach who was using Shulang's situation and kindness to make him feel guilty for something that wasn't his fault, all in the name of their dead mother. I personally felt disgusted by him.
Just as expected, we get one episode of happiness, which is greatly needed. Fan Xiao is still deluding himself that he will ever be able to voluntarily break up with You Shulang.
You Shulang's brother is the character I disliked the most in the novel, so I'm cheering for whatever Fan Xiao does to him.
Was he really played though? We know as a viewer (and reader) that Fan had this whole elaborate plan of seducing…
Oh, absolutely. Lu Zhen deserved what he got, and he ended his relationships with a caring and attentive person on assumptions that Fan Xiao liked him because of the presents and the attention. What I meant is that Fan Xiao was deliberately fueling Lu Zhen's delusions in order to get what he wants, because he correctly guessed that You Shulang, no matter whether attracted to him or not, wouldn't accept him if Lu Zhen was still in the picture, and he's not the cheating, materialistic or delusional type like Lu Zhen. Again, Lu Zhen deserved the reality check he got and has to take responsibility for his stupidity.
"I just want your life to revolve around me. I want to be the only one in your eyes", says Fan Xiao even before they come together. Shulang, these words alone should've been enough for you to know that once you give in, you're getting someone who would never let you go.
The confession scene was one of my very favourites in the book and I was a little afraid they wouldn't give it justice, but they did. And the colouring of it, You Shulang being in the light and Fan Xiao in the dark is absolutely crazy. I hope we'll be getting at least one full episode of them being happily in love before things start to unravel. We're already about 40% into the novel if we count the extras, which I think they will be adapting too.
I didn't think I would feel sorry for Lu Zhen considering how he broke up with Shulang, but I did, because both actors really delivered in that scene. Fan Xiao rarely shows his real face, but this time he did, and Lu Zhen realising he's been played and his heartbreak over it were very well-played. Lu Zhen was not wrong, of course, it's only that he doesn't know yet that Fan Xiao did all of it because he wanted Lu Zhen's lover for himself.
I start to get fed up this year with this bff theme from KBLs... I mean this is the year when I got disappointed…
I agree, it was not a good year for Korean BLs. The only ones I liked were Secret Relationships, Business As Usual and Ballboy Tactics. The rest was one disappointment after another. I had high hopes for this one, but sadly, it didn't deliver.
- the unbuttoning scene was so hot, I held my breath. Great chemistry! - I lost any sympathy I had with Lu Zhen when he turned on Shulang and blamed him for the break up. Being honest is not his forte. He didn't break up with Shulang because Shulang doesn't love him, he broke up with him because he was hoping to get together with Fan Xiao, who's given him nothing btw., except false sweet talking and expensive presents. Blaming the guy who's taken care of him, has been attentive and loving, has been cooking for him, has been faithful to him (and Shulang is obviously attracted to Fan Xiao, but would never cheat) for Lu Zhen's infatuation with Fan Xiao of all people was just unfair and felt like kicking the guy when he's already down. I give Lu Zhen credit for being young and stupid and fooled by Fan Xiao like everyone else, but I hated what he said to Shulang in that scene in the book and I hated it in the adaptation. - I can't get myself to be mad about the drunk kiss, even though I know it was wrong, because an upside-down kiss is rarely done right and that one was amazing. Yes, I'm that shallow. - One of my favourite lines was "Director You is such a nice person, but unfortunately, he keeps meeting the wrong people". How right you are, Fan Xiao. Poor Shulang will go from Lu Zhen to Fan Xiao. But unlike Lu Zhen, Fan Xiao will appreciate being loved and cared for. :) - Fan Xiao reaches new depths by using his real life trauma to get Shulang feel sorry for him and open up to him. I can't with him. That is... horrible and at the same time extremely effective and clever. - I noticed only when rewatching, but right before Fan Xiao forcefully kissed Shulang in the hotel room, he was speaking Thai and not Chinese, i.e. Shulang hasn't understood the part in which Fan Xiao screamed at him about deciding about life and death and asked him to save him.
Finally found time to rewatch and share my thoughts. Episode 3:
- as I suspected, they've omitted the second couple, which is fine with me, there's no need to make it more toxic than it it. - the difference between Shulang and Lu Zhen's morals were shown really well in this episode. Both are aware that Fan Xiao is sort of flirting with them, although Shulang doesn't take it seriously and thinks (very correctly) that Fan Xiao is only playing and doesn't respect boundaries, while Lu Zhen seems to think that Fan Xiao is really into him. But only one of them dropped his partner like a hot potato as soon as Fan Xiao texted him, and only one of them offered Fan Xiao to test the new comfy couch together while being put into the exactly same situation by the same lunatic. I'm going to say something about the way Lu Zhen broke up with Shulang later, but honestly, Lu Zhen deserves everything coming to him and I feel no sorry for him at all. - the SA and the way Fan Xiao acted afterwards was really horrible and it gets even more horrible with every rewatch. To Fan Xiao's tiniest credit, he did not orchestrate or plan Shulang's drugging and kidnapping, that were Shi Lihua and Bai Sanmiao alone, but everything else that happened is on him alone and he, like Lu Zhen, will deserve everything coming to him, because Shulang is not a pushover. It's truly despicable to assault an unconscious person and then go to them immediately afterwards, playing the nice and supporting friend and offering help with finding who's done it. Shulang's first guess was the right one, he should've just followed on it. - I love You Shulang, he is my favourite, and it hurst him to see him suffer because a crazy rich guy who has nothing better to do with his life gets obssessed with him. And Fan Xiao was not sorry and planning to do it again after seeing the state Shulang was in firsthand. There are no words.
I'm so happy my favourite gmmtv couple has this fun, funny, hilarious series! I've been laughing for two episodes straight at Khun Thee's cringy (but in the best possible way) lines, at Mok's microexpressions and at Peach's exasperated face every time he's met with another cheesy nonsense. I'm having so much fun watching this!
Tomorrow is my little niece's birthday and I won't be able to watch because they live in another town, so no VPN for me there. Why was it necessary for Gaga to restrict it that much? :(
I'm comforting myself with the fact that there will be two brand new episodes on Sunday for me. :) Can't wait! This has been my most anticipated BL drama this year ever since it was announced.
This is such a great psychological drama and deserves a better rating.
Win is very obviously not real and only Alan can see him. Nate was just pretending to see Win for Alan's sake and I think it's him who's contacted the hospital.

OMG the preview for ep. 3! *dies a little*
