ugh, it actually made a little vomit, his crying scene was just so repulsive to me. I know people like him, they never cry for you, they cry for themselves and what they lost. I simply can not relate to such a character.

I'm not sure we've watched the same drama, that guy drooled over her from day one for sure but that ain't love my darling. His actions show no respect or boundary for her, where is the love, where is care, do tell me.

I was so done with this even from the episode one but pushed through all the way to the end. Now I can say with confidence that I truly don't like this drama :) I love me a good complex male lead but Luke ain't it, he is too real to be fictionally hot even with Jing Bo Ran's face plastered on him.

If you have exhausted your list then yeah go for it but otherwise you wouldn't miss out much if you passed on this one.

Not my favorite season but I still like that it exists. The first two seasons had really tight writing but this season was almost like an ode to being human.

What the hell were those last episodes, they totally messed it up. I can deal with a toxic couple but bad editing is a no go.

So what are we exactly talking about when we mention fictional characters and their behaviors in our comments. It comes down to what we accept as a society, people can defend a fictional character with bad qualities because they also do it in real life. Our perception of real life is deeply intertwined with media, desensitizing and normalizing the things via media is a known fact since its inception.
I might turn off my brain for the while I'm watching them but defending the characters with questionable character traits according to my beliefs is not something I find right. Who we side with, fictional or not, boils down to ideas, what we actually think and accept inside, so you can walk your way and I'll walk mine.

I don't mind him being the way he is, this is a drama after all but I mind when people try to excuse the character. Unfortunately that happens a lot in real life too, women defending trash men. I think as a society we should tackle how we present such men in media. And no matter how much people deny, our commentary on fictional characters can shape our real life stance.

Take away their hot scenes, take away the Luke's face and just listen what he says and look at what he does to Flora. Then defend his trash character as a boyfriend. I really want to live in a world where women don't try to excuse sh*tty behaviour of men.

Her drive to have all those things stemmed from the fact that her fate wasn't in her own hands. Of course she wanted to live well is a part of it but her real reason still staying alive, with dignity.

Mrs. Yu was pretty cool from the very begining, she was ready to accept her even back then but Yake's own inferiority complex made her loose the sight of what mattered hence whenever Mrs. Yu was ready to be gracious Yake messed things up.

It is not fair to compare their experiences, I'd say Tingyun should've turned more jaded than him since it was her own family basically killed her, even the person she kept closest took her to the gallows. Zhao Ling made that choice to rise above, Tingyun made all of her choices to stay alive, so they're not the same.
Also, your last conclusion is very similar to what I think. Even now Zhao Ling no longer sees her as his equal, he is comfortable enough to dump his problems to her yet he still makes the desicions all by himself. They are no longer partners that trust one and other, just two people with the same goal. If the times allowed I don't think the current Tingyun would be willing to marry Zhao Ling as readily.
