There was no real angst to keep it more interesting, I wish they played on her powers more. If the female lead was a man, he'd be going around with pride that he had superpowers. She could freaking generate electricty, how cool is that but when women have strong powers they're always portaryed as something to be hidden, afraid, ashamed etc. It pisses me off to no end.
Anyways, this was cute just because of the leads but the story itself is really weak and underdeveloped.

This is really fun.

Besides from the forced marriage and taking her to the capital I don't see any problem with him. Which is pretty messed up but besides that he actually stirved to be person she needs and deserves. He actually became a green flag with even today's standarts but of course just because he gave it all that doesn't mean she has to love and accept him.
She kept to herself until she actually saw that mass grave and he let her be with no pressure. So why wouldn't people like this relationship, love can be a form of abuse but for this case I don't think it is.
Plus, the source material can burn in hell, that male lead and this one from the drama ain't made from the same cloth at all. Drama version was always a proper respectful human being while the novel version was a dog in heat.

P.S.Btw, after wathcing The Early Spring and how people liked Luke, this drama is such a breath of fresh air. Lin Jin Qi has risen up to green flag status despite this being a historical drama and yet Luke was an insufferable piece of trash despite being a modern day character.

I'm so glad that 40 episodes limit is lifted, this drama is so good.

ugh, it actually made a little vomit, his crying scene was just so repulsive to me. I know people like him, they never cry for you, they cry for themselves and what they lost. I simply can not relate to such a character.

I'm not sure we've watched the same drama, that guy drooled over her from day one for sure but that ain't love my darling. His actions show no respect or boundary for her, where is the love, where is care, do tell me.

He does sob but it is most cringe sob scene I ever seen, that man can beg on his knees and even that wouldn't move me. sorrynotsorry

I was so done with this even from the episode one but pushed through all the way to the end. Now I can say with confidence that I truly don't like this drama :) I love me a good complex male lead but Luke ain't it, he is too real to be fictionally hot even with Jing Bo Ran's face plastered on him.

If you have exhausted your list then yeah go for it but otherwise you wouldn't miss out much if you passed on this one.

Not my favorite season but I still like that it exists. The first two seasons had really tight writing but this season was almost like an ode to being human.

What the hell were those last episodes, they totally messed it up. I can deal with a toxic couple but bad editing is a no go.

So what are we exactly talking about when we mention fictional characters and their behaviors in our comments. It comes down to what we accept as a society, people can defend a fictional character with bad qualities because they also do it in real life. Our perception of real life is deeply intertwined with media, desensitizing and normalizing the things via media is a known fact since its inception.
I might turn off my brain for the while I'm watching them but defending the characters with questionable character traits according to my beliefs is not something I find right. Who we side with, fictional or not, boils down to ideas, what we actually think and accept inside, so you can walk your way and I'll walk mine.

I don't mind him being the way he is, this is a drama after all but I mind when people try to excuse the character. Unfortunately that happens a lot in real life too, women defending trash men. I think as a society we should tackle how we present such men in media. And no matter how much people deny, our commentary on fictional characters can shape our real life stance.

Take away their hot scenes, take away the Luke's face and just listen what he says and look at what he does to Flora. Then defend his trash character as a boyfriend. I really want to live in a world where women don't try to excuse sh*tty behaviour of men.

Dang it, I was really excited to see the actor playing Lu Ming. I cried a river for him.

Her drive to have all those things stemmed from the fact that her fate wasn't in her own hands. Of course she wanted to live well is a part of it but her real reason still staying alive, with dignity.
