He is just there throughout the story but poses no meaningful threat to their relationship, like ever... He Yan and Chu Zhao aren't on the same dimension even for a second.
As I mentioned before, these new dramas have that 1% something special missing, I attribute that to the new censorship, directors have to thin out the stories to fit it into a plausible frame and it really takes away from the characters. We want to see the romance, the war and the hardships of all the characters but in reality how many of those characters can survive the editing battle.
Stories like this one need a more complex and intricate setting to achieve a proper world build up since the idea of a female general would meet much more opposition from scholars of that time. That topic alone is a long and hard problem to solve, let alone wars between nations. Most of the meaty material is glossed over since there is actually not enough time to tell such a story. Drama itself finds a nice balance between suffering from this lack of intricacy and benefitting from the refreshing nature of being rather simple.
Overall, this was a drama done very well in its limitations and I enjoyed it for what it is.
Understandable if you're an OG EXO-L and KW was your bias but I've always thought the resemblance was very slight.…
"I've read that some netizens, who do not like CFY because of his privileged background and looks, have used the slight resemblance to attack him." Had no idea about that, it's sick.
I know I'll get hate for this comment but I have to ask. Have you ever get the ick from an actor because they remind you another celeb with bad personality?
Edit: I've deleted the second part of my comment to prevent unrelated association to take root on other people.
Ive been lurking from weibo and douban and they say that Chen Feiyu has more haters than fansEven when the drama…
He is a bit hit or miss for me but so far he is killing with this character. I thought it would be another broody male lead role, I'm glad it isn't and character's playful nature brings out CFY's strengths forward. Yet, I'm still unsold at scenes where he should be all scary and overpowering, those scenes are working for me. To be fair, most of these actors with milky white skins and frail bodies hardly look intimidating, it is something I came to terms with C-actors.
That line where he said 'You're taking it out on me' when she was being irritatable. I don't know why I like it…
ikr, they're so real as a couple, so much so that I feel like a third wheel for watching them XD. The comedic undertone is making it all work and I wish more dramas was like this. They are certainly in danger but I like the we can wing this just fine vibes.
This Ruling girl. Even if this girl ends up trying to redeem herself by sacrificing her life, I still won’t…
I mean, she is no saint and have no compassion for Sima Jiao which is fair. Even she is planning to kill him she still thinks about the snake and LTY. So, I'd say she is pretty solid. She is looking after her own people, she is not going after Sima Jiao for personal gain. Could she try to find a better way? Such as asking LTY, yes. But, she is trying to do what she can, can't blame her just because we like the male lead.
you can watch iam nobody series season 1 and 2. She acts their as Feng Bao Bao
She is great in nobody, her sense of humor paired with touching emotional delivery was top notch. Her character was like a broken overpowered doll, pitiful, loveable, awkwardly funny and eerily beautiful.
Wow, I wasn't expecting that much intimacy. I love how Sima Jiao isn't another cool unfeeling male lead character. That guy was prisoned for 500 years yet still can find a way to be playful. Love that. Ting Yan is one of the most relatable female lead characters, her a worker's holiday mood is so real and I love how she has her priorities set straight, eat, sleep, have fun, be good to those who are good to her, mind her own business, loyal when it matters. Wasn't expecting much but I'm pleasantly surprised.
Sorry but she is carrying this. I mean, I like Xu Kai, he looks fine but for me he can't lead a drama at all.…
He is one stable actor that I'd say, I always check out his works but also I've only seen him in too subdued characters for me to apperiaciate. And the character where he had more rizz the script was not up to par. Idk, he always makes me think that he could do so much more.
