This is one of the rare cases where the drama is getting so much better during a rewatch. Now that I finally know who is who and what isactually going on, I can fully enjoy all the plots and all the subtleties. In some cases, I couldn't be bothered to watch a drama while reading wiki and reddit Q&As at the same time, and I would just drop it. But here. I don't mind, it enhances my watching experience. But this can be a dealbreaker for some people and I completely understand that this is not an easy drama to get into. Moreover, I don't think this drama is perfect in all the aspects. It is clearly low budget, and there are a few plotholes here and there. But I don't mind. There are so little dramas that are as character-driven as this one, with such a vast cast of all sorts of grayish characters. I personally would call this my healing drama. In other so-called healing dramas, it is often the case that in the end we find out that the main leads didn't really do anything wrong. But here both the main leads (and not only them of course) deal with their decisions, regrets and traumas till the very end, and will never truly feel that they can right their wrongs. This is very impactful to me personally - we all will do mistakes and hurt others. And we just have to live with that and try to do our best and find people who stand by our side. We can't let our mistakes haunt us forever.
Just 2 Questions, is there a hint of romance here. and if yes is it BL???PLEASE SAY NO
If you are the type of person who can convince themselves that the MLs are friends and roommates, then I guess you can watch it. But otherwise, saying that this has a hint of a romance is an understatement - it has tons of romance, just very subtle. But it's the kind of drama where we don't need a kiss to see that there are sparks flying.
Everything which you said is true except one point. LWJ never doubted WWX not even for a second. He just didn't…
Yes, of course you are right, I might have worded it too harshly there haha. But I feel like even LWJ felt that he didn't show WWX enough support back in those days, so when WWX comes back, LWJ with no hesitation says I BELIEVE YOU repeatedly hahaha
It gets extremely good by 14-15 (when the tragedy starts), but for me it got good in the opening scene, LOL. Maybe…
Oh, for sure, especially during the rewatch, as I already knew what was gonna happen, it was so painful watching those episodes... even watching WWX happy in the Burial Mounds was devestating, knowing what is ahead. At least after episode 33 we finally get some more happy scenes of him and LWJ...

Yes, I started enjoying it right around eps 14-15. Before, I was overwhalmed with the names, the characters and so on. It gets the best after WWX changes into a demonic cultivator.
I have to admit, that when I was watching The Untamed for the first time, I thought that Yanli's character is kinda bland and boring. Especially compared to the myriad of other, flawed and outgoing characters. But now, during my rewatch, I really have to admit that I was wrong. She's such a courageous character, even though she's lacking in her cultivation and the physical acpect. Never lets anyone down and always gives them benefit of the doubt. She's the true backbone of WWX, when everyone doubted him in some way or another, even LZ. Never treats either of her brothers better. Never puts unreasonable pressure on anyone, even though we know how tragic her life is and how hard it is for her. A true fighter. She has my full respect.
Production of OTT drama & CABLE drama is very different in time but still this is taking really long time
I kinda get the split, I think it really hyped up dramas like the Glory, or series like Stranger Things. It's just that I kinda don't see the hype growing overtime with a melodrama or a slice of life. With the Glory we were all waiting desperately for the revenge arc. And here I feel like the hype is just going to die down. So I really hope that part one and two aren't more than a month apart. Or I just wish they did a typical weekly schedule.
so the open relationship is dropped the minute she gets pregnant? well that's boring.
Imo the screenwriter had a few novel ideas, but the producer just went "wait- we can't show that on kTV" and they had to butcher the hell out of it, even if the initial premise was left there. I feel the sexual innuendos were treated the same way - like, the characters talk about sex pretty openly, we (almost) see erotic toys, but when they get to it, we barely see any action? Like, not that I'm waiting for something really explicit in a kdrama, but many dramas do show a bit more than that. At least let them have a talk about it afterwards, let the FL banter with ML in her usual manner if the ML was really a virgin or not...
I suddenly remembered this year's Wedding Impossible, and realized that NGNL is exactly what I thought WI would be after first few episodes. It was cliche, but there was an incredible chemistry between the leads and it had a lot of out of the box funny moments. Sadly, the second half of that drama was disappointing to say the least. But NGNL is really holding up! I agree a bit with the sentiment that the main couple's relationship could have started with more of a bang, but I'm not mad about their approach either. I hope the next episodes are gonna be filled with a lot of fluff, and that the FL will check if the ML brings her no loss in the bed as well XD
