Yihe is a very good university for the major she is interested in!
Thank you all for the responses! I could have missed that cause those episodes before Yihe felt a bit draggy for me and I might have not paid enough attention, but it definitely makes sense now.
Also I have a question - why did the FL still decide to go to Yihe uni even though she 'discovered' that ML got a girlfriend? I thought she was in class 11 at that time, wouldn't she have time to change her choices of university if she gave up on him?
What I find a bit icky is the fact that JX is just too rich for his age and circumstances. He is supposed to be in a lot of debt, plus his dad is in a hospital, and at the same time he is trying to pay for his studies. And he manages to pay for all of it, and then 2 years after finishing uni he has a flat, a car, and some savings. Also his career is just a tad too quick, from intern to chief engineer in just 2 years. Dunno about China, but in Europe it's far from reality. I feel like he should be at least 30, but then the age difference is a bit too much for how yound FL is...
but it's just a minor flaw in this heartfelt story. I haven't seen such an engaging romance in a while. The chemistry is out of this world. I could complain about the side characters being underdeveloped, but for a long time I've felt the opposite about romances - like there is not enough of cute moments, maybe 10-15 mins in every episode. But here the romance is basically the whole drama, and I still can't get enough. I love it. Love the character development for both leads, and love that even though the romance is very idealized, it still covers some important topics, like the ML not being accountable for his dad's sin. In some other dramas it would take so much time to deal with it. But here it's just - ok, it wasn't you. Love it. Also the way the ML talked to his friend and discovered that FL probably likes him. Very realistic. And how he initially asks her out. Not anything grand, just a normal boy addressing his feelings pretty awkwardly, as he should. This mix of realism and fantasy was just perfect.
Woah. The first 8 eps were okayish, bit too slow for me personally. But after ep 9... this is one of the best romantic relationships I've seen on screen for a long time. Maybe since My Beloved Summer? I'm on ep 13, and even if the show would go to shit from this point onward, those eps would still be the golden standard for the genre. Like I don't wanna drag other shows here, but if I had any doubt if there truly is no chemistry in SYIM19thL, then I no longer do. It just doesn't compare. I'm going to Oppenheiner's premiere now but I wish I could binge HL tonight hahaha
I feel like most comments are from people who don't like fantasy genre in general. The plot might have a few loopholes…
Lol, this is not even a proper fantasy. It basically has one fantastical element. Other than that, it's a straight up romance. I see no connection. And I am 100% sure that a lot of people here came from Mr. Queen, which had as much fantasy as this one, if not more
Another small example of bad writing is the 'I'll confess to you 3 times'. Scratch that she confessed a million times before, but it was supposed to raise the stakes and make us feel like maybe she'll give up on him after the 3rd time or sth. But no, there was no suspense, he announced that he likes her after 1st? 2nd? confession and the whole thing was quickly forgotten. The writers seem to have seen it in other dramas and decided that it's romantic but never really went through with it...
There are quite a few things that I don't think are done well with this show (though don't let that affect you…
Nah, there is no reason, and it makes even less sense when you consider that FL met the ML 'first' in her 18th life, and she looked different back then...
yes, her tone is awkward because she sounds so happy in the present time but like kindergarten teacher tone. It's…
It would make sense for like the first 1-2 episodes, when she is portrayed as detached emotionally from reality, but there's been no change whatsoever... She cried a couple times and that's it, her behaviour didn't really change.
MDL is becoming so toxic😞 You can't ask anything anymore without getting attacked.
You can't ask anything? XD bro, you've been at it for more than a year now, asking questions like IS IT A ROMANCE? IS THERE A TRIANGLE? under every drama in existence and informing everybody that if it's not a romance you won't watch it. Just read the reviews or watch the show yourself, stop spamming every comment page. We are not the toxic ones here.
I think I finally figured out what I don't like about SHS's acting here. Her character is acting like she's older than everybody. That's why her relationship feels out of place, cause even when Seo Ha is an adult, she's still treating him like a kid. I think it's more of director's fault rather than SHS, but that makes me feel weird and as if the chemistry isn't here. She also acts the same way to her niece, and to her sister, which is equally awkward. Like in no way does she act like I act towards my sister who is 7 years younger. And that makes every relationship awkward. I feel like in other dramas where a character is hundreds years old, at least they are acting the age that they look, so even tho the difference in age is concerning, the difference in acting - not so much.
Surprisingly good! Bored me a lot in first 4ish episodes, but later it got better and better for me. I love office dramas where the characters do some actual work. Even though I'm not sure about the nature of their work, their department seemed like a weird hybrid of marketing/sales/development all at once. But I'm not so familiar with the back office of cosmetic industey.
It's great how every single plot by the end is resolved, and nearly every single character gets character development. I especially loved Jae Un, I thought at first that he'd be the bad and disgusting character, but he turned out really sweet and caring, not only to his love interest, but to his friends and family. Overall highly recommend! Pretty solid and sweet, hard to come by these days.
This drama is legit has audio problem and it's not just in one episode and apparently , that was not a good comment…
Yes, exactly. I feel like there are 2 kinds of people: either "why not drop it immediately if you don't like it" or "its only a part of the series, you can't criticize based on only 2/4/6 episodes". It just doesn't make sense, we just can'twin...
Lol the only toxic and rude people I see here are those trying to pump this show up artificially and being nasty…
I'm sorry, but you call yourself mature and then call others a dumbass, retard, butthurt dumb kiddo and idiotic? Sorry to break it to you, even if this is an answer to a rude comment, this is not mature. You tell sb to go to a psychiatrist just because they comment the things they don't like on a drama they don't like and the other way around? What should they do, post positive comments when they don't like a drama? Just wow
