Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me…
Your questions are all over the place. You started out with the differences between XL and Jing's giving up on life and you continued by giving chenrong Army's motivations as an explaination for XL's reasoning. There are 2 different topics IMO.

"But when you say XL needs a happy ending but it can only be with XY"

First of all that's not what I said, and second that was a question that you still didn't answer. You keep twisting everything, while missing the point.

I wasn't talking about the Chenrong Army, but about XL. IMO chenrong Army and XL had different reasons to fight till death. The soldiers because they wanted to keep their heads up when facing their ancestors, while XL because his sense of righteousness didn't allow him to abandon them. The captain goes down with the ship basically.

So if XL would have kept a life to himself to have a happy ending with XY, while everyone else around him gave their all on that battlefield, would that have looked better in your opinion?

Because XL has the sense of duty, unlike jing, who forgot about his grandma, about his clan, about his responsabilities and all he could think about when he died is that he is to weak to live in a world without XY. XL choosing life for himself would have meant a betrayal for all his comrades who gave their all on the battlefield. By the same token, jing choosing death for himself meant a betrayal for everyone around him. But he didn't care about that, his world was too small and he was too selfish and weak to live independent of XY.

Jing never wanted to heal, he chose to remain a cripple, because he had no identity left. He is just shiqi, XY's…
He didn't want to heal his crippled leg because he was not interested in becoming Jing anymore, since XY didn't want Jing, but shiqi, the man who XY took pity of and the one who was dependent of her. It is not healing that he was looking for, but XY.

I would think Jing has XL's endorsement to be the one for XY since XL himself cannot be with XY. 🐍👍🏻👌🏻🦊Otherwise,…
In the novel I don't believe it was specified and I don't recall the order of events in the drama, but when did Jing had that conversation with that maid of his, when she told him that Hou's wife had something important to tell him? Before or after he went to XL to ask him to stop XY from getting married? I do not believe he expected XY to come back running to him in an instance, but I believe that at that point in time he already suspected that the kid is not his, so his objective was to stop the wedding and the only one who was able to do that was XL. He knew XY has feelings for him, so he sorta gave her back the chance to choose XL, the chance he took away from her with his 15 years trap, but at the same time he was aware that XL won't choose her, because of his loyalty towards the army. Cunning as a fox.

I agree, but that's not what I was trying to point out. I interpret that scene differently, I didn't get the impression jing's focus was on the army, but on XL. He was relaxed, because he knew XL will send XY back. He gambled on XL's loyalty towards the army and he won.

That scene never happened in the novel. I don't believe jing cared about the chenrong remnants, what he cared about was XL's choice, the choice of remaining loyal to the army, at the cost of letting XY go. I believe people mentioned this before, but since the gamblin den was also under his power, he obviously didn't care much about those slaves either. His world only had XY in it, he said so himself, which IMO it's just a form of dependency and I don't see anythinf healthy in it.

Of course he approved of him, he was the only one who had no other purpose left in life beside XY and that's obvious by what he chose to do when she was assassinated. That's what XY was searching for all along after all.

Just want to add to what some viewers psychoanalyzing Xiaoyao and Tushan Jing... suggesting it would be 'healthier'…
Jing never wanted to heal, he chose to remain a cripple, because he had no identity left. He is just shiqi, XY's companion. But he would have been fine with being her slave too, at least that's what he said. I don't see anything healthy about their relationship. She speaks, he listens, she demands, he executes. That's all there is.

Jing needs to improve his combat skills. I dont blame him for walking into this obvious trap on top of agreeing…
I am just so fed up with Jing already. I didn't notice just how useless he îs while I was reading the novel, but seeing everything on screen I really can't with him anymore. His happy ending makes the whole story not worthy. This guy has no identity left beside being XY's companion.

Your post is highly biased. If you're going to compare her reactions, consider her response to XL's death versus…
I agree with everything you said, except tushan jing. I am not good at psychology, but why do I feel that it was not XY who become his equal, but rather jing that gave up on his identity to become the person XY wanted by her side. Their relationship's dynamics never sounded right or healthy to me, I kind of see them in an enabling type of relationship, if that's the right word to use. Does she need money? Jing will give it to her. She likes music? Jing will sing for her. She needs someone to carry her basket? Jing will do that for her. She wants to spend the rest of her days on an island? Sure, even though Jing never expressed any interest for the ocean. I could see XY making some progress in the long run, but I do not feel the same about Jing. I could see her going on with her life even in jing's abscence, but I am not so sure he could do the same in her abscence. When XY died in the merlin's assassination, that was it for him. He forgot about his grandma, about his clan, all that he thought about îs that he can't live în a world without her. On the other hand, when Jing died, even MiaoPu was reason enough for XY to keep fighting. Was it because she still had the will to live regardless of jing or just an act of selflessness and kindness? Would she have done the same if it was XL în Jing's place? Why did SirBi said that even though Jing is dead, he îs still relieved that she chose him instead of XL? The way I see it, her fear of abandonment goes hand in hand with her having a dependent type of personality. XL saved her life not only through love (lovers' bug) but also by pushing her away from him and into someone who loves her enough but on whom she is not dependent on. Her dependency was on XL and lovers's bugs stand as testimony (if I die, can you live? Is that a question, a motivation or a bit of both? ) , not on Jing. She was dependent on her mom, not on the Qs'stown's folks. On the persons she loves, not on the ones she just cares for. By the same token, XY became Jing's dependency. What's left of Jing by the end of the novel? He has no identity left, beside being XY's companion, Shiqi. They all lost something down the road, what did jing lose? Ironic, but while I can see how XL helped XY become more independent, I can also see how XY turned Jing, by his own choice and free will, into someone who's fully dependent on her. But I guess that's what she searched for all along, someone who could never abandon her.

See, I would also want that, like SO much. But on the other side, it's kinda better that XY won't find out everything…
I understand and I do get the whole point, but what to do if I love XL more than I love XY. As a viewer, I need some closure too.

Oh how I wish XY to find out everything XL did for her. XY is exactly like TianEr, she believes Jing saved her, because he gave her a few drops of honey, but the one who actually saved her and made her independent was actually XL. She saved Tianer, not skinny. I so wish for her to live the rest of her life knowing the truth. Why are you so selfless, XL?

Because they wanted to face their ancestors with their heads held high. Because they couldn't forget all their comrades that already served their lives on that battlefield.

Lol, that whole scene was so ridiculous. I honestly believe they made it on purpose, to embarass Jing even more. Such a tool. The cherry on top was Hou's last hit, I swear I couldn't stop laughting, jing was sitting there, doing nothing, basically just waiting for Hou and FFYY to finish whatever they were doing, so they can take notice of him already to finally push him off cliff.

And chapter 43, when XY got to spend a few nights with XL.

They really turned Jing into a clown, yet again he failled to protect XY, he loses the battle to Hou and he ends…
Wasn't he supposed to be one of the smartest guys out there? He not only fell into a trap yet again, but he also took XY with him. That all scene is ridiculous, honestly.
