Oh sure, but actor and character are two different entities. The actor did a great job, but the character himself is the greatest piece of shit. If he wanted to play a broader range he should have been required to pick another role, bc this sudden nicest man who did nothing wrong act is the fakest shit ever. The way this writer turd made him to a changed man thru two bottles of magic alcohol, i feel we need to add the fantasy genre to this crappy show. And yes given everything this abusive shithead has done for 25 eps or so, this is way worse than the magic hugs (which were shit too, mind)

-found greatest joy in humiliating TK in making him kneel in front of him and apologize in the tea-house, and that after he assaulted him first in the bathroom during that golf event. -He also stalked YD's fam every day FOR A YEAR, leaving unsolicited gifts (✔ on a stalker trait list) and harassed them with constant phone calls, and trespassed into their home several times -fanned the flames of suspicion regarding the paternity to achieve YD being thrown out of the Gong family and being isolated to make her crawl back to him -He nearly caused YD to lose the baby with the whole duress he put her under due to the anon post. Something he was conscious of for five hot minutes, before doubling down in harassment again to make her "come back to him" He openly threatened YD's mother when she refused to do as he said and blackmailed her he would ruin YD . Twice. -Gaslit YD after caught cheating to shift the blame of it onto her (bc she took too long or something) Also belittled her and generally talked down to her in their breakup talk. (I grew bored of it/you etc) also the whole "it took ages to get with you to second base" thing which yiiiiiiiiikes. Not to mention that he he started the affair with the other demon right after sleeping with her, basically. Use and discard, as narcissist and abuser do. - When getting YD his obsession shifted to the child as a means to control her, make her feel unsafe with constant threats to take Haneul away, if she does not come back to him and does as he says. - used granny as a means to get haneul and to push TK out of the family, so YD would be isolated or just for the sake of it to make their lives a living nightmare. Which he very much enjoyed and gloated about. - refused the offer of visitation rights from YD instead escalated everything to the world's most pointless custody suit, again as a means to control YD and punishment for her not obeying and out of spite for TK - never once apologized and took accountability for any of of these things on this long list.
But sure tell me again how one minute of crying in the dark redeems this demon and makes him worthy of pity/empathy. And how he did all of that just because "he felt lonely and misunderstood."

Ah, i see. Can't speak about that one have not seen it yet. But there ARE good older family dramas too, which are good and stay good all the way thru unlike TRHC lol
Some may call it filler but you also need those slower story bits where you pause and let things breathe, especially in regards of the leads' feelings and thoughts. Let THEM marinade in it, and see progress made, however small afterwards. Those quiet character moments in between the usual spell/drunk SY/love square madness that brings them closer and that was really done well in eps 6. You can say that alcohol served as a truth potion for SY, as it removed his prickly defense and left him bare. And oof that scene, i felt that. Hongjo felt it too. This goes way past the love potion, for sure. It seems to me that SY was never in love before, and now feels the full brunt of it, heightened by the love potion sure, but it is more than that. I knew that and told ya that "what is real and what is fake" is one of the central themes here and it was proven today. Already we have SY questioning if it is really the spell or himself heh.
In fact, they are both developing feelings at this point. Hong-jo isn't trying to stop Shin-yu every time he says he's missing her anymore. She is glad to be missed, At some point, she started to miss him too, and she's aware of it now, even if she is still denying it verbally.
Both actors are doing a phenomenal job with the small subtle emotions and microexpressions. The chemistry is soooo chemistring and the way they look at each other has definitely changed. And if that is just a fake kiss daaaamn then how is the real one gonna be? I also love how Rowoon shines in physical comedy, his drunk bit on the ground was hilarious "I am scared of buuuuugs" :( 😂 And his different versions of GET IT TOGETHER SY!!! feel like a challenge by now to package it anew each time hahaa. Plus the whole bit with the dog and the "paw" had me hollering. Hongjo trained Shinyu really good, a loser puppy indeed 🐶😂

AJH does a great job with Taekyung here but sadly his character is the punching bag of the narrative so all green flags in spite it is not worth sticking to the quite good first half since the latter one is abysmal bad in all regards. Once again is the much better choice here.
Kinda interesting how a quite a few of the currently airing dramas have FL's crushing on and pursuing SML at first (with SML being only mildly interested at best) and ML is the one slow-burning his way in (to her heart) Instead of SML crushing on FL while she only has eyes for ML. Outside of this lovely show here, we have also Behind Your Touch and Destined With You following that pattern. Is this gonna be a 'new trope'? 🤔
