Seriously, I donโt get why he get back together with his ex. They didnโt look like a couple at all. He never…
I don't like it either but it is understandable. It is, as said, his way of rebelling against fate to prove he chooses his destiny after all. A stupid one, but it is in the line of him wanting normalcy in his life and the longterm gf belongs to it, or rather taking the next step is what he is/was supposed to do before Hongjo upended everything. But it is also a matter of if this is what he really wants still, and the preview is saying NOPE hehe.
Also has probably to do with their past lives, parallels and such. Hope we don't drag that messy triangle/quartett? out for too long. Ain't looking good if he is two-timing and HJ is "the homewrecker."
in 4th ep he was so sweet even though he didn't want to, but what happened in the 5th episode.. that was a 180ยฐ…
Characters like people do not operate in a straight line, there are always back and forth, especially in a time of crisis. Which is reached here for him as it's the double whammy of being forced toward her, of having no choice but to love and to be with her. First that love potion forcing feeling onto him for her, now getting to know she is his destiny no exceptions. Hence why he is rebelling against the whole notion of it now, even more than before. Familiarity breeds contempt as they say. Plus her lack of accountability for her actions and his general growing confusion about his feelings (real? Fake?) is also something which galls him and makes him lash out. Still he is waaaay too comfortable with her to be this blunt, and he should tone it down a little. But that is part of his character development I guess. ๐
She also blushed when she first went to the new office because she was nervous, embarrassed in front of her boss.…
I mean yeah sure but in the context of the last scene it is definitely not embarrassment or anger (she tries to blame it on the latter and he sees thru it) and the writers made it to a telltale sign of hers especially for attraction, so yeah. Also if she were not attracted to him she wouldn't be willing to kiss him (body language, aka leaning in just the slightest bit, eyes closing a little) I bet she will stop the kiss before it happens but still ๐
He definitely should not have accepted the proposal, but he did so in order to try to fight the spell and 'destiny.'…
yeah i think that is what is going to happen or rather is currently happening which will lead to him breaking things off then again, causing SFL to go wilding after HJ like she did in HS, basically.
I love that there is kinda a battle here for which lead is the bigger asshole while i am just thinking ooooooh…
Also i am looking forward to watch Hajoon as ML in "Hyoshim's independent life" very soon, but in here his character and SML is as interesting as a piece of untoasted white bread. Like... why does she even like him? Bc she complimented her once? Guuuurl, pls.
I love that there is kinda a battle here for which lead is the bigger asshole while i am just thinking ooooooh flawed characters, so much room to grow. Like naturally they are not their best selves yet and stuck in their ways still. But that is what the 16 eps are for heh.
Granted i am not a fan Shinyu got back together with his ex, but it is understandable, like he got to know that he has a destiny and it is inescapable. So it is in human nature to be contrary and go noo i don't want that and do the opposite, and this includes his ex. Bc that is the woman "on his level" he chose for himself... or rather was supposed to choose. But even without a spell this longterm relationship wasn't really healthy anymore. Like he never really told her about things that happened in his life, wasn't emotionally open to her (beyond the issue with the sickness) Their relationship feels... fake, lacking depth and is now what he is settling for in order to escape a set path of destiny. But is it really what he WANTS?
Now that is the question here and what makes the show and dynamic between him and Hongjo so interesting.. Because what is destiny, what is chosen? What is the spell and where do his own feelings begin? I love love love this conflict and how he is already torn between what is real and what is fake (also regarding his ex, that comparison of his with the real watch and the knockoff can be read either way) Also not liking how rude he is to her at times, gotta learn to channel his feelings/frustration better, but for all its faults, he is real and himself with Honjo as she gets under his skin in all the ways he hasn't known before nor (currently) wants her to. Which makes him lash out like a rude teen that shins need to be kicked, in order to create (emotional) distance haha. But that is the difference to whenever we see him with his GF, where he is very restraint and seems uncomfortable. He is holding back a lot of himself with her, it seems, while Hongjo gets to see the 100% authentic Shinyu, arrogance, flaws and all.
As for hongjo, she seems torn like Shinyu almost. On one hand she definitely is annoyed by him (and with him being so candidly RUUUUDE at times i don't blame her) and being thrown together with that guy in the name of destiny but on the other hand also misses him around when he is not with her (low-key for now) and grouses about him calling but also when he is not calling ๐ Like Shinyu she is trying to escape this set path and form her own destiny with SML, but it does take an observant kid at the local subway ppl place to point out to her that she seems to expect ML to further pursue her. So what will it be then, huh? :D She is a loner and having the puppy ๐ถ swarming around her made her definitely less so but she is trying to convince herself that she does not want his company that it is better that way and yet they are drawn to each other, everything in spite. Is it only destiny or real attraction? Her blushing at the end speaks of the latter, but the question what is real and what is "fake" (aka inescapable destiny instead feelings for each other they have chosen) is going to stay as a huge theme here and i am here for this.
The og title "์ด ์ฐ์ ๋ ๋ถ๊ฐํญ๋ ฅ" (This love is a force majeure/force of nature) is definitely more than apt, for sure, By this rule the disaster spell should actually work ๐
@bloomingtide Could it be SJ and Joon Ha wedding ceremony? This would really be worthy of this writer.
lmao now THAT is what I would expect atp. But it is clearly AJH's profile in the pic here and SJ's actress is not as petite so it is not a scene from eps 9 either:
Oh of course in kdramaland seoul where there are just three streets and two neighborhoods -rich and poor - Honju and SFL ( i don't care enough to remember her name lmao) knew each other back then, and SFL was an arrogant snobby school bully. Not surprised.
์ฐจ๋ผ๋ฆฌ ๋นจ๊ฐ ์์ด ๋ ๋ซ๊ฒ ์ด ๐ Ten minutes in and this line killed me as Hongju touched him in the taxi, all conked out on alcohol. "I'd rather have the red hand."
