Im not a family drama person, I am trying my best to not drop this, but it is really not helping
idk how far you are in, but if you are not far in, drop, as it won't get any better and even worse in the second half. If you are pushing thru the ending eps along with us as we are hoping our suffering having an end too, there is the silver lining of a wedding ceremony confirmed to happen now. I am not thinking it will exceed five full minutes at the end of eps 50, but hey wonders may never cease hahahaha
TRHC was my first family drama too and if i had only watched this one, i would have been pretty disappointed and disillusioned regarding the weekender genre. However i watched others in between, other fam dramas which, without exaggeration did everything much better than TRHC. Five Enough and Once Again are my big two which proved to me that this genre can be fun and worthwhile to watch. TRHC was simply a badly structured and written backyard melodramatic soap opera on drugs that had pretty much nothing common with the usual kbs2 weekender in its place.

Yes yes it is. Very warmhearted without villains and bullshit, just pure family stories and romance. Good flawed characters with even better development over time too, plus one of the most satisfying ending to a kdrama I have seen. Sadon couple is the cutest you will see.
If TRHC has been your first long and family drama I definitely understand that opinion but there are much better weekenders out there. Highest rated is still Once Again and for a good reason. It is everything TRHC is not tbh 😁

Howler Monkey arc is solved very soon after TK/YD get back together and work on convincing the fams, together. Magic hugs happen mich earlier, which means focus on rotten fruit arc can start earlier, leaving more screentime for airhead couple arc with birthmom too.
Nun Eka is the grandchild but cut out the whole shithead is my brother subplot. Tightens up a lot of the plot, less exhausting misery for leads and viewers and leaves room for other development. Shithead can still be wilding as always I don't care. 100% Less we are going to Canada wangsting too which was a complete useless storyline. Or if you wanna go the Kim Junha show route make sure to have this DNA test done right after eka's and not five fekkin eps later. Do not spin manipulative tales how gentle and kind shithead was thru sister mouthpiece. CUT THAT OUT. And this leaves is then again with 100% less Canada wangsting for the leads. I don't see a way to properly redeem the bastard without reshooting scenes tho where he takes ACCOUNTABILITY and apologizes for everything and then fucks off to the USA... which is the briefest way of closing the arc of this demon, short of killing or jailing him.
