CHELE <3 I wrote a post on DB before the episodes of last weekend, so this text in the spoiler tag is regarding eps 38/39, but tldr is that Taemin has constantly shown a staggering lack of emotional intelligence and empathy for the ppl around him. So while i don't see TM as evil, sometimes or rather often people who are THIS ignorant and callous to everyone around them and their pain/perspective are even worse than the bad people who actively choose to do harm. With TM it is the complete and absolute absence of awareness for me that in turn made me incapable to feel sorry for him before the reveal. Especially since he saw himself as a victim in all this, while paving his own road to hell with the choices he made (before the reveal), alienating every single person around him. (If HS with her infinite amount of patience and kindness gives up on you or rather indirectly calls you a crappy person, you better sit tf down and rethink your life choices tbh 😂 🙃) (which he now thankfully is doing, but it really took THIS much to make him reconsider his stance)

Hence why TH had all reasons to having felt resentment because for all the things TM did and has treated him throughout the show. TM has hurt him too, not just paper wife, and that is a fact. Yet TH was the one who made the step toward TM and encountered him with compassion and kindness instead anger, fully understanding where he is coming from and must feel after that shocking reveal (not about the things he did before it tho, but TH let it all go anyhow, showing to be the bigger person.)

So to zoom in on that sentence of him "having resented him for taking the gallery (which was PAST TENSE!) is very unfair and distorting what actually happened in this scene or why Taeho sought him out in the first place. Namely, to ensure his brother does not leave like this/comes back, and knows that he plans to be there for him now, going forward.

Hey, if you want a show with UEE that is centered on her and slow burn romance this would be a good pick. But this is also a family drama, means there are several story arcs of different characters and couples, either belonging to FL's family (mother, siblings, nieces/nephew etc) or to ML (cousin, Aunt/Uncle, grandma) And most of these family need your patience bc in weekenders characters always start out as their worst selves and get their character development along the way. And i really adore this family drama, all things considered. It is competently written and well structured. I think the biggest flaw it has is its very slooooow first half (after the starting 15 eps or so), but ever since eps 25 where the leads start dating the writing and pacing has been great and the plot is moving well. Of course you have your usual tropes of a weekender with annoying/toxic characters that require your patience or ffw button, screechy, frustrating parts, the chaebol power struggle, a delulu sml who accepts not a rejection for way too long, and less engaging subplots. But the main couple is, imo, one of the best i have seen in a weekender ever, with the way their relationship develops from bickering dislike to being e/o support system, loving and trusting each other. Uee and Hajun are so cute and natural with each other onscreen too. They have an effortless chemistry with lots and lots of (warm) hugs included and no break up nonsense once they are truly together and committed. Even if 50 eps seem daunting, you never know when you don't try it and also you can speed up the other parts and just focus on the leads... that is what i have been doing till halfway through where everything else finally picked up too :)

Debatable.

Nothing concrete really, just my own impression, as in the behind the scenes the TRHC leads seemed amicable with cameras near them, but they never seemed to gel as well privately as the LYOL leads do (hajun even said that they become such good friends that he is missing her on a day off haha), so it all remained quite distant and stilted, which translated to the screen where they did the bare minimum together, never more. And always standing/sitting away from each other at covid safety distance xD They were only professional with each other, but not really comfortable like UEE and Hajun are from the get go, as you can see here at their promotional photo shoot for the tv show poster before they started filming:

Plus there was FL's breakup with her long term partner irl and it seemed to have taken a toll on her and her work too, as she was like a ghost the last ten to fifteen eps or so. Aka only physically present but not more. TLdR: They never clicked together but worked together because they were contractually required to. Dunno about the others in detail, but everyone appeared to do more of their own thing when not filming. You rarely got pictures of the actors together hanging out, or them interacting on social media. Meanwhile our man Hajun is out there liking every post of Uie makes on insta 🤣

Been there, done that. Writer already got that out of her system. They already broke up before they truly committed to each other. Now they are rock solid and planning their wedding. Remember when they dated before the whole TM incident happened that insulted and hurt HS so she backtracked after not even a day of dating? Yeah. They didn't see each other then for a week where he told her "to either come to the place where they always met, or he'll leave for the US again, but the choice is up to her" Cue her realizing she loves him and going to find him. End of episode 25. Since then they've only grown closer and stronger together. Writer ain't pulling the 'HS father was the secret murderer of TH's parents bull crap or something don't worry.

My bi heart has room to appreciate both leads, tbh 😁

Also their poster photoshoot way back was such a good indication of how much they gonna slay as main couple as they are already oozing comfortableness and chemistry with each other <3

HML's main plot is weak but most of the characters are lovable and or their character progression is done well. Also it has like LOYL a very strong, adorable as heck main couple who supports and defends each other Definitely worth it for their story alone as both actors have a great, fun chemistry and lots of small, natural skinship akin to LOYL here (even more small touches i'd wager) I really liked the sense of community in this family drama too, it is found family and family combined.

In fact I made an (incomplete) comment as i watch thread on twitter. Mind that i came off fresh from/was in the midst of watching the trainwreck TRHC at that time, so my commentary is colored by that. Aka HML is what TRHC wishes it could be if it hadn't had an all around inept dumbass writer 😂 (since it is a bit similar in a way)

I actually would love that. During their sham of a marriage TM never once gave her a chance despite her trying to make it work and compromising a lot. Hell he was not even treating her with basic human respect, which was the worst part. He never even tried, at all. But things are different now, so maybe they can start over in honest and without prejudice clouding every of his interaction with her. However I really want arrogant wife to apologize to HS for the shit she pulled/treated her out of unfounded jealousy about TM. (Not sure if we ever get to see that, as high up her horse that cow is tho, seeing HS always below her, but it should happen) But imagine them all getting along as a family unit, they would be unstoppable 😁

Good to know you are watching Doctor Slump too. I like it due to the main pairing as i am a sucker for the two people unlikely finding and supporting each other despite and against all adversity and odds trope. Which is why i love Hyoshim and Taeho together as well, btw 😁

Yes, especially coming from THRC where everyone was dressed from the walmart bargain bin 💀 this is such an improvement in this weekender. The suits and coats are so on point, perfection👌 Also Hyoshim's wardrobe is very classy too now, you notice she is already practicing for her chaebol wife life 😂 (jk, it is to show that she values herself now in taking care of herself etc etc)

I confess i made my own thirst post regarding that, but it was more the formfitting white suit shirt and shoulders/back combo of Hajun that i liked in that scene haahaha 😁

Well, it is, um, the way i write, nothing personal toward you honestly. I am blunt in general, is all. But also I just cannot fathom why you would think that given all we have seen regarding HS by now, and i actually already talked about that in my initial post. Hence why it was a bit superfluous to repeat myself here. I still stand by my words tho, but they were not meant to offend, just to reiterate my thoughts on the matter. Nothing more.

The noise i made during the Taeho/mole scene tho. Because he knew everything, prepared everything, just perfect. I love characters being portrayed as oblivious when they are not but you would not know if you don't look past TH's laid back attitude and see how KEEN he is in reading people and observing things around him. Hence he is underestimated, left alone/not taken seriously, which seems by his design, almost. i noticed ppl dislike when he is smug and aloof, but hey he does his due diligence here, so he is allowed to 😂 Besides, he is never that for long and rather engages with someone on a personal level. And Hajun portraits the duality of TH perfectly too. The way he flips a switch and is like okay, enough serious bsns time for funsies now is flawless 😆

Well we will see how it goes with TM's paper wife, but she should indeed know better than to mess with HS by now... I hope 😂
