I feel the even episodes bring us much more content and development than the uneven ones. First episode 14 and now episode 16 being much better because screen time of mendacious mooncalf is/was reduced to a minimum in both.

They talk for a bit and remiscence about old times and he asks her if she is married and has children and she denies both. She rushes to leave and is shown talking on the phone outside of the restaurant. Obviously talking to her child. I wonder who the father is here and why is it YD’s uncle?
Fallacy fairy is texting TK asking to meet up as “friends” and waits for an reply in a phone-staring way as banshee is pointing out in a non-screechy way for once, but he left her on read while eating with (not) wifey. Lmao. YD sees the text before TK did and is not pleased about it, tries probing him about it but gets a non-answer. They talk about the near murder of BN by granny, wondering what it was about. At work she is snapping pics of and mildly flirting with her new/old co-worker (dressed up in their clothes) from the US, who seems to like her. Hyung Woo is coming there to pick her up without telling her, sees them and is upset with her afterwards while she yells at him to not come to the company just like that. He rebutts that they have to keep up appearance of a married couple and also very jealously introduced himself to the dude as such before. He definitely has more feelings for her still than she for him. I think I would be more invested in their story of finding back together with various detours taken, if YM wasn’t as sour as a basket of lemons all the time. Such an unlikable character thus far who is rude to EVERYONE no matter what or why, yikes.
Bong Nim is tutoring at the school. I feel I could improve my hangul with her too haha. She also finds Jang Ho looking very down in his office at his desk, staring at what she knows are divorce papers. She asks him if he has eaten (korean way of asking are you okay heh) and he hastily hides the papers, tells her not to worry and instead go back to studying. I see what the writer is doing here, setting up these two to get to know and maybe love each other over the course of the story. JH would find a much better, welcoming home YD’s fam for sure.
YD is driven by hallucinatory harlequin to her destination, and we get our leave phone with the enemy scene from the preview. It is just YD being a klutz especially when showing an easy af unlock combo to the lying lora. She is able to block her father’s number on the phone, but cannot do anymore as YD returns to retrieve it.
Love the scene of Yeondoo defending her niece when she is bullied at the playground because she has no mother, and near tears. She protecc and attacc the brat in form making her nearly cry in making fun about her not having an uncle (or aunt, idk) and asks her how she feels when someone does that. Good learning lesson for the kids and they scurry away. Soo Gyeum is thankful to her aunt and makes YD promise to not tell her dad about it bc she does not want him to be sad for raising her on his own/ he always gets sad when I tell him about something like that. Aww, she is the cutest. She tells YD that she is glad that Jinjja has both, mother and father and never has to go through the same as she does. I am so glad to have Taekyung as my son in law and your husband. It would be so hard on your own but you are not and he is all a mother could wish for.” YD is smiling through the pain at that. Instead to return to her room YD is going outside. Soo Gyeum sneaks in to visit her new favorite uncle and tells him about the playground situation and swears him to secrecy too. Also that she saw YD leaving so TK is worried and tries to call but she left her phone. He goes searching for her.
YD is sitting alone on a swing, flashbacks to all the various occasions of TK being seen as Jinjja's dad and gurl is sad. YW and his daughter have a heartwarming scene too, because he heard everything what Soo Gyeum told Taekyung. He is consoling her in the sweetest way (you could never disappoint me and it is okay to be sad, but pls tell me about it in the future) She ends up crying and hugging her father.
Taekyung finds her and tells her that he heard from SG what happened on the playground. Very emotional scene where she is opening up to him. "will my child be treated like that too. I am on my own with the child, but everyone is seeing you as the dad and you are not. But i find myself thinking fortunately TK is here and keep relying on you, but you won't be for long bc you are not Jinjja's dad. Will i be able to do this on my own?" (and various other bits but it take too long to translate everything) TK has tears in his eyes too and he awkwardly pats her shoulder. Damn give her a hug, you dork. But ofc uncle appears and heard the TK is not the dad bit, dun dun dun dun. Doubt they are uncovered that easily, tho, but way to ruin an emotional leaden scene between the leads lmao.

I am not a fan of the whole single parents are doomed theme going on, but SK sadly still places a stigma onto it and the writer uses it and set up YD through the episode and various sitatuations to rethink her easy coasting to the deadline. Especially if she is dyslectic and hid it, so she is pretending and fooling her way through her life to be smort instead of illiterate all along.
Honestly i would not laugh about illiteracy normally, because it happens to people of all walks of life. But joseon granny has been so high and mighty about her superior education, status and smarts that her being exposed as such is ironic poetry. There is also a lot of potential for character growth for her here, too.

He has been only tolerating the family due to his mother and kept his distance (before YD changed things ironically) Goldi Golddigger would ensure much closer ties to the old bat and control over TK since she is joseon's old bat's person and does what she tells her to, no questions asked. Cruella would also side in all of his matters with her instead of him. The old 🦇 would have great influence on his life through narcoleptic clown and would make certain it would be horrible and far away from the family company etc.
YD however is her own person and made clear from day one that she won't bow to the senior toddler. She speaks her mind and is a wildcard that would ensure TK's independency further. She is on his side and also gives In Ok more power in the household. Since her son is no longer isolated from the family and also has his own now with YD and the child. Far less control about how TK lives his life as well as less control in general through a strengthened In Ok. Him being closer to the family and more and more acknowledged means him being also closer in the whole family business heir question. Worst case scenario for Joseon Granny right here.
