I watch this drama for KJH if anyone has not noticed that due to my essays about his acting each time lmao, but i really disagree here. I think she does a really good job and goes toe to toe with him in their shared scenes - especially during their bickering rap battles with loads of dialogue in one scene/take. Not easy to do, by far.
GyeJoel is also a wonderful chaotic and hilarious/quirky character with the duality of heads in the clouds but realistic and tenacious enough to not take the easy way out and knowing what she wants and resourceful in how to get there. I really enjoy their dynamic thus far, and the way she stands up to Kkokdu, and ISH portrays it well.
Also don't forget to rate the episode 3 separately in episode guide tab, so we can push the show's overall rating to 8 at last (not that it matters much in the bigger picture, but you know... optics/looks nicer lol)
KJH is a true artist, had my eyes on him since 2015. He is an actor of par caliber, from a BL to small roles to…
Yes. couldn't agree more. I keep catching myself zoning in on his acting/expressions and missing the dialogue/subs due to that because it is SO FUN watching him gooooo/do his thing. xD Several scenes of Mr. Queen with him will forever live rent-free in my head. And incidentally it is always the highly emotional scenes (SHS two confrontations w/ him and the aftermath where he talks w/ his brother in eps 4 and 5 respectively, or...whenever he is yelling/going off on his corrupt ministers. Sooo soooo good.
The one where he yells at the human scum as Kkokdu in today's episode was also a fave of mine. Like i love his comedic acting, but his depth/abilities really shines the brightest when he is in serious/emotional scenes. I hope to see him in a serious drama soon too, like i would pay all the drama monies to see him as the cunning villain/anti-hero in a thriller or something. Hopefully his career runs into more stable, straight lines after this drama, he so deserves it.
I came to check the comment section after hearing the OST by KJH lol.. such a beautiful song!
It really is, and the lyrics suit the drama so so well, too. Either way, here a link to the official mv on YT and the song on Spotify for your yall's convenience:
βThrough the daily lives of his sisters and neighbors who do not lose their laughter in all kinds of storms,…
Ooof, as a current learner of korean (still quite basic as i take it sloooow/casually) i really felt that. Korean is pretty much a guessing game/assuming the correct translation/meaning like in a language quiz show with no winners or prizes xD
And the word "context-dependent" haunts me in my sleep ever since xD
Agree. Maybe this drama really started in episode 3. So they were smart to invite cameo in this episode, not ep1.…
Yep. This is why i won't get tired of repeating how utterly stupid it is to give up/drop a drama after ONE single episode, tbh. All stories, and especially those focusing on romance instead of action, need some time to breathe/develop at first. It is just the most basic 101 of .... how storytelling works lol
I've been trying to unpack why my reaction to Eun Beom's lack of communication in their marriage versus Ha Ra's…
Yeah, she rushed into it as reaction on finding out the truth about her divorce with EB. Feels like a defiant action (now i have to move on, this will show him) than being emotionally clear and ready enough for this new relationship. Ha Ra is very much with her heart still with EB instead with SML, as it usually should be but tries to force it with new guy since moving on is what she is supposed to do now. Them being on such different pages and speed tho is quite painful to watch tho. Idk why she is not talking to him about it, but i think it is more about admitting to herself that she did rush into things and cannot forget EB as she is *supposed* to do than losing what she has now with SML. She fakes it until she makes it, stubbornly so, tho i think she will very soon get to the point where she sees she cannot continue it like that.
Oooh this was a truly good episode with a little bit of everything:
Bickering rap battles, Kkokdu being a troll, him taking out the trash in murdering a despicable garbage person, KJH comedic acting chops with 10 (micro)expressions the second and moments where he added depth outside the comedy, Kkokdu playing GTA Korea with his insane way of driving, character development/more background for GJ ( i really like her tenancy and unwillingness to take the easy way out) llots of chaotic gods trio screentime, a nice sibling dynamic between her and her brother, Kkokdu being bad at flirting, Kokdu being bad in teleporting, him failing in kdrama tropes (contract relationship) and people skills (reading their intentions, apologizing), a good, smooth pacing and a pleasant dynamic between the leads outside the bickering (the commands, she enjoys it a lot lmao, but also the more serious bits are nice).
Really liked it and i feel sorry for the people who outright rage-quitted (see comments and reviews) after one singular episode. Ah well, their loss. π
Please think before writing ridiculous comments. Indeed, you can dislike Ji Chang Wook's dramas, but if he keeps…
Having seen a lot of his works by now, I also think "If You Wish Upon Me" was his best acting work to date, so it is a shame that people can't or won't watch it. It is such a good drama and deserves more attention.
First you have to care for your favourite then talk about others he already a top actor with one of the highest…
Nah. SHS ain't underrated for a long time (since 2016) now, that is a complete western misconception that somehow still persists. In SK she is known as "quote queen" because she always delivers and has been regularly nominated, and winning awards for her acting in the past six years. She is well known and beloved by netizens and in the industry. PD's and writers vying for her to be in their projects bc they know of her worth and quality, but she is quite selective regarding her roles. I love JCW as well, but pls read a least her wiki/mdl page before subscribing to such an uninformed information about Haesun. Thanks.
Same, but she hasn't agreed to the offer (yet) so MDL is once more prematurely with cast/crew additions, sigh. Here is hoping tho, bc these two together would be acting masterclass supreme.
