Currently In A Drama Hiatus
On Taxi Driver Season 2 Feb 9, 2023
The "this show is not available in your region" viki ghost is haunting me again :(

Ah well, for now i have to content myself with the first season (anyway)

I think there are a lot's of good drama out there which are currently being telecasted. Don't waste your time…
Aww, maybe that is a hint to give it another try then, if you dunno why haha

Idk, I just didn't see it on your list, that is why I mentioned it ๐Ÿ˜ It is the drama with Lee Jehoon and Shin Min Ah. Or rather the reason why I caught/catch up on all his works after watching it, since he really impressed me with his acting there. Particularly in the emotional scenes. The start of the drama and until they really find common ground takes a bit/is slow, but it is so sweet (and raw/realistic in places) after that ๐Ÿ˜ญโค๏ธ

I have yet to watch TD, but this drama is/was the first where i came across Lee Je Hoon and i am super impressed…
Oh btw, since i stumbled over this comment again... I picked TD up now since the second season is very soon airing and really like it so far. Not only get i another chance to enjoy Jehoon's acting, but i also get to stare at his perfect nose for another 16 ish hours hahaha (also his voice, very nice๐Ÿ˜)

Yeeeeah there are like.... a handful at best and people treat it like there are a dime a dozen like idk office ceo/secretary romances lmao. I would love to see more stories with married couples going thru and beating the odds, ngl. Because while new relationships etc are interesting to watch there is something comfortable about their familiarity with each other, especially in this show now where there is no ill-will left. (I think the next best thing to it is friends to lovers then, heh)

Because (for me) Flower Of Evil's leads' conflict centered around their marriage (if they truly know and love each other) and showcasing/testing their bond in general is also what made this drama so special, imo.

Just saw you haven't tried Tomorrow With You yet? Give it a go if you wanna see a good good married couple dynamic, even if the main plot is a bit stupid but the lead actors definitely sell the strangers to spouses dynamic and their affection for each other so so well.

Okay I havenโ€™t watched not even one episode but seen clips, so he is trying to get rid of her and even set her…
Nope, it is not. I mean there is a synopsis at the top of this page, this should give you a good idea what the plot is about :D Don't expect to watch a simple rom com tho, as this drama is about marriage and its failings and what comes after, and all the interpersonal in betweens with flawed but realistic characters. While the tone is much more humorous in the first three episodes it gets more complex and serious after that. And yes, it is about them (the leads) ending back together, but how to get there is all up in the air for now. It is a very interesting drama imo, because as said, none of the characters are cookie cutter perfect or in the right. It is all kinda gray instead of black and white and i like that.

I love Lovestruck in the city one of my all time favorite kdramas
Yeeep, hard same. I rarely, if ever, hate a FL and instead try to understand where a character comes from,, but dear gawd i DETESTED her with the fire of thousand suns. Even the supposed reason/sob story for her actions and being like that was weak and shitty. She was such a manipulative/gaslighting, callous asshole who not gave the slightest f for the people around her. I have never rooted this hard for the leads to NOT get together, but alas my efforts were in vain. The only memorable bit of this drama is JCW's raw acting in the cafe when he breaks down, crying in such many small ways. Wow goosebumps (and when he tells her to fuck off ngl)

Title Strangers Again Spoiler
Honestly speaking I am very much confused and as I see I think everyone is... I can't guess anything about the…
Eun Beom is the type of person who shows his care through actions, not words. And his gestures are not of the grand, obvious kind in most cases, but each is very telling on its own how he feels and that he cares. Like a lot. In this episode alone he

a) took on a case he didn't want to initially, but because Hara had to deal with her family issues, he even went as far as convincing the client he is the better choice. He totally had her back here, so she could fully focus on dealing with her family. He could have run away from the very complicated case, but he didn't and Hara factored into the reasons why he pushed through.
b) he got all pissy and territorial at his colleague mentioned that he once had feelings for Hara. The way he stopped and glared at him, oof. And the things he said right after, like the lines he drew between that guy and Hara were as long as the Chinese wall.He retained his petty streak toward him even in court ๐Ÿ˜‚
c) He listened to her, like basically the whole episode, despite being swamped with work and said case. He bore the awkward position being between friend and ex wife like a champ. (I really wanted to give him a hug there, poor guy. Like he has always regretted setting up that blind date, but i bet never more than in that moment xD )
d) he leaves his scheduled family dinner for her, after Hara called him, despaired and is making sure she gets home safe (and apparently lands in bed with her according to preview... whoopsie xD Could also be just a dream or something, of course, as previews tend to be misleading)

Great episode (7), but frustrating at times. The parallels between Eun Beom and Jae Gyeom were significant. Their…
I think these valid question will be, maybe not answered in tomorrow's episode, but definitely discussed. Seeing how appear to land in bed together, it feels more like snowballing but this time EB is speaking up (preview.) And he needs to, too and assert his own needs/wishes etc unlike during the years of his marriage, or else nothing will change. What became clear more than ever tho in todays eps, is that their lives are still so intrinsically linked to each other and with all the care and love for each other, there won't be a "moving on" for them. However they have to find a way then to live together that it is satisfying for both and not just Hara's needs are met like before.

I think this is what the remaining episodes will be about.

I donโ€™t love this drama (nor Do I dislike it) but I Do love the oh so cute, sweet , adorable , dorky main couple!…
Try Thirty But Seventeen/Still 17, if you have not seen it. The romance takes a while to start as there is trauma and character growth to go through first but it is super sweet and wholesome. The drama in general is very feel good and warm, but also rips your heart out in places as it tackles trauma and ptsd and how to move on from a life that basically stood still ever since the traumatic event. Also Shin Haesun's and Yang Se Jong's acting is stellar <3

Also Salon De Nabi. It is slice of life show about a hair salon and its people working and customers coming there, their lives their problems and friendship/rivalry. The writing is clever with some social criticism/life lessons included (it never gets too heavy tho), plus a cutie pie first love romance on the side. Highly recommend, as this super-underrated drama deserves more love and attention in general. Kim Hyang Gi is also FL in this drama, as a bonus :D

Title Kokdu: Season of Deity Spoiler
I just watched ep one and so I want to ask Do Jin Woo is dead right???
Yeeeep. Kkokdu has taken over the wheel and it is/continues to be a wild ride hahahaa. No offense to Jin Woo, but after three episodes with KJH as Kkokdu, i see why the writers rushed to kill him off quickly. Because losing the timid restraints for KJH acting-wise, is a very good thing/development ๐Ÿ˜

Also hi friendo, welcome to my new comment section home until this drama is done haha

No offense to the fl cause she's actually doing well here and I only wish her the best but I just cannot stop…
Saaaaame, But at least we have the mini-reunion of Lady Choi, Royal Chef and CJ ;) Would have even loved a cameo of sorts by SHS but she is booked and busy elsewhere either way.

I am glad i am not the only one who gets so caught up in Junghyun's dynamic/lively acting that i forget about reading the actual subs xD. I swear the amounts of times i had to rewind because i just kept watching him do his thing hahaha. He is such a force and joy to behold, especially with characters that allow him such freedom and duality/range such as Kokdu. I am so so so glad he is back.

I am glad you picked the drama back up because it gets better with each episode and is about to find its footing…
Oh, i'm aware it is far from perfect, i just take this drama as my silly fun watch of the week, so i don't actually pick it apart or discern it as closely. Plus my love for KJH and his acting makes it easy to roll with whatever he does in this drama lol.

You make me sound more proficient in korean than i am, hahaha. I mean yeah, after almost a year i have a good grasp of the letters/most common vocab and can follow along words and differentiate them in hangeul pretty well and quickly, IF i read them along as they are spoken out loud (like in subs), but i still struggle when i have to read korean texts (especially longer ones) on my own. So in that instance i also read like an elementary kid, out loud and veeery slow xD It is definitely a skill i want to work on in my second year of learning as the main focus. I am also abysmal in spelling korean words, and speaking in general xD But oh well, since i mainly learn korean to understand kdrama w/o subs i am putting my emphasis of learning more on listening, vocab/grammar and reading than the active skills, lol. Thanks to my daily dose of kdrama, my listening skill is the best developed ofc hahaha

If you use spotify and listen to korean songs on mobile, they often have now timed lyrics to go along the song. At first it was overwhelming even with slow songs, but it really helps to just follow along and get comfortable with hangeul. Even if you don't understand what the word or words mean, it helps to get a feel for the sounds and how the words and letters are pronounced. If you do this, definitely start with slow songs and don't get frustrated if it is still too fast to follow along, you will get there with time :)

Why don't you see a lot of KJH fans defending her here and at viki. How do you know every hate comment here is…
You know when i read through this long thread i am simultaneously sad and happy that my korean is long not sufficient enough to tap into knetz and the comments there, but it way more of the latter as it sounds too much of a hellhole and bother lol.

I think people in the industry are well aware of his vast abilities as actor, this is why they didn't give up on KJH and spoke up/helped him. I don't think they would have done so for a less talented actor.

Honestly, this is so refreshing to see how this supernatural character is more a petty grinch of death than solemn deity of demise that broods about his cruel fate 24/7. Nah, he is too busy playing and reenacting fighting video games and trolling everyone xD

I dropped it a week ago, because the first episode was not good, but I'm glad I picked it up again yesterday.…
I am glad you picked the drama back up because it gets better with each episode and is about to find its footing now. Some or rather the vast majority of shows do time to find the right rhythm and pacing after all, which is why dropping after a singular episode is, imo, seldom a good idea.

The problem with NF subs is that they truncate too much at times and leave out nuances that i, as korean learner slowly are able to differentiate via dialogue. Viki on the other hand is on the other side of the spectrum, losing itself in details and too long sentences that become overwhelming to read. (especially when you like me use dual subs (korean/engl) whenever possible) So while dual subs is nice and neat on Netflix, I sometimes have the half of my screen covered in both hangeul and the english subs on Viki xD So both have their advantages and disadvantages and it comes down to personal preference, and of course availability.

The other factor is the drama itself here. The pace of dialogue etc in Kkokdu (give the titular man back his "k" as it is in hangul = ๊ผญ๋‘) is very fast and there is a lot, especially during the leads' bickering rap battles, as i call them xD So i get that as viewer without further access to and knowledge of korean can be overwhelming. For me, it is the best part of the drama thus far, as i just go with the flow of the actors and their words and acting and see what i can pick up during it. I tend to miss the subs due to that, so i rewind to rewatch the scene for context and just because it is ... fun. So dynamic and lively, but yeah definitely can be difficult to keep up with hehe.

What definitely helps to fill in some blanks is reading the recaps on dramabeans which have a nicely structured summary without the author coloring it with their bias and/or opinion about the drama every two seconds. (Hence why dramabeans is hit and miss for me and almost always veeeery much of latter with so many shows prior to this one.... but the recap there are actually decent so far, for a change. Comments there are a mixed bag of "I agree" and "WTF" but that has MDL covered already anyway haha) Hence as much as i love the rapid-fire and amount of dialogue/bickering and banter i am glad that the writer showed mercy in not throwing in an over-complicated story on top of these xD
