You are right on with the characters, though it does pull a reverse TRHC meaning it gets really good halfway through and everything picks up with FL moving out, leads dating, the main and couples plot progresses etc, so it is a matter of having enough patience to get through its circular beginning where things hit a complete standstill for almost 15 eps i think? (Outside the leads with each other, that is, bc they progressing nicely. Big bro also gets better later on but also not, lol. You will see what i mean. The other fam members stay their egocentric parasitic useless self, i fear, at least thus far. FL's mother is true villain of this story anyway. Either way the drama has been consistently good since 25 with a lot of stuff finally happening after the writer woke up from her 23 hours/eps power-nap lol

They are both webtoon adaptions where the time travel do over second live chance is its own genre by now. So ofc they have similar concepts but a different focus.. To say they are the same is to say all family dramas are the same because they (nearly) all feature a chaebol fam and a working class fam and those family members are toxic/useless starting out, When it is just certain tropes and concepts being used commonly.

Just made a surfshark sub for 2 yrs at the start of the year, so i am quite new to vpn myself. It does work flawlessly with Netflx and D+ Plus in any region, Amazon Prime detects it for some reason when i am on an european server, same for Viki and refuses to play vids, but switching to US/Canada etc servers helps here to circumvent having to turn off my VPN. Which is weird, but whatever.

I only have to pause surfshark for one show i am watching (Live Your Own Life) bc it is a viki pass plus show in the US whereas i can watch it here in my real region with viki pass standard. So not a prob either, since the vid just needs to start and i can resume my vpn as soon as it does. It took a bit of getting used to it and has some quirks sometimes, but when you know how is surfshark overall a good choice for streaming. It has a SK server too which unlocks livestreams

Yeeeep this is why the subs vary greatly at times between kocowa and viki. Hell my own translation outside of plain misunderstanding words due to phonetic similarities or missing vocab, differs from both too. Korean is funny like that 😂 I often find viki better but it really depends on how subbers interpret things and hit or miss the right tone and nuance of words which is all but easy bc you basically playdo your way through translation with Korean 🤣

i disagree in a way, because outside this one insane "Your mother abuses you bc she is just jealous of your youth, be understanding" scene of that dumbass coworker, the writer showed the gremlin as consistingly horrible throughout and did not paint her behavior in any way or form as positive. Before Hyoshim broke free, zero waste granny had been pretty much the writer's megaphone, then Rubi and now Hyoshim is the one who puts a mirror and zero tolerance toward mother crocodile tears.

But it is true that writer nim missed her chance to tone her down by now. But i am starting to believe that this is not nor has ever been the point with this demon. I don't think she can believable change to begin with as deep she is up her own entitled ass. She is a pure narcissist who uses and manipulates other people but cares only about herself. And she drags others down with her, bc she is miserable, so that is why everyone else has to be too. Such people don't turn around and are all kind and empathic and be more respectful of another's person's needs, agency and boundaries because she only sees herself. And it would be TRHC level of redemption bad if she suddenly were all that. (remember junha magic alcohol bottle of redemption? Yeeeeah)

I think the point here is of others to exert their boundaries with greedy goblin and limit exposure to her as far as possible. It is also why TH, even when/after goldgobbler knows of his, well, rich af background, is the most ideal partner for HS. Because he can handle the money sucking vacuum with asserting boundaries for himself and his future wife while packaging it that she is thinking she is doing them a favor instead, lol. (Hajun with his natural charm is perfect for the role ngl) The only small bit of redemption possible for malignant mom is imo when she starts liking Taeho without knowing of his wealth but beyond that? I don't see it happening anymore, because how TM is a foil to HS in a way so is this gremlin and the evil cow. And the latter pair trudges on without any amount of empathy or remorse for their actions. Different approaches to the how and why, but both are as equally as horrible, morally destitute people.

Nice, so the dip was indeed due to the holidays, but no surprise it rose it again. It has going consistently strong story-wise since eps 25 with its progression and all. So it is good to see people's interest reflected in the ratings. Times have changed tho for weekenders tho. Back then ppl wondered when a family drama would breach the 30% mark as it was bound to happen along the line, now 20%-25% max seems to be the gold standard for fam dramas in times of online streaming... which more and more people use instead to watch while it airs. Either way, hope 20% is next because the show really deserves it, and more, by now.

It does not need a revision for that to make it 2,5 months on good terms for the leads tho. Dating is another thing that is pretty fresh. But HS visited TH in the hospital in eps 12 where first signs of attraction were already noticeable, and from her side as well. (It's just that she never had the time/space to process that till around ten episodes later, that is) And they were on friendly terms there already which timeline wise was after the "funeral", so yeah.

Independent of when the filming started for LYOL the timeline of 6 months makes no sense. 4 months does tho. So we should probably file it under writing error as the numbers four and six are very distinct in korean and she said six.

It is a pity it took HS in the show so long, but now she is very steadfast with a zero bs policy toward the infernal manipulator. Especially in the most recent episodes (where her secret dating becomes... less secret lol) And it is wonderful to see. I appreciate the writer portraying this character as consistently horrible and doesn't excuse her behavior either, nor changes her magically with the snip of a finger. By now i actually doubt this narcissistic shrew will ever change and at this point a redemption arc feels undeserved. So not sure where they are going with the manipulmomster (not a typo but word mash), other than her going on my nerves, that is 😂 Take care :)

Because the moment she would actually talk and fess up to ANYONE the taesan main plot would have been solved and we can't have non-convoluted things nuhuuu. Also big bro is gonna be coming around with helping, it was clear from the scene when they said goodbye and HS turned around to TH. And Hsung should too, as it is unbeknown to him in his best interest to get the 1920 era oni out of the way. Remember he is poised to take the fall along TH if the rotten apple fam has their way and free rein without anything being done. So their fates are, more or less already entwined. Plus they gonna be brothers in law anyway, might as well start early with working together.

afaik, the korean age was abolished lately (one or two years ago?) So they only count the international age by now, i think? Not 100% sure tho, beyond korean age being no longer being a thing as it always complicated matters in daily life or so.

Yeah i was having six months in the back of my mind but it made no sense given the season and everything we were told. Like, we would have gone thru a full summer with them (like in TRHC) and it has always been fall at best. Four months is much more likely, also with the way they shoot the drama as they go instead to finish all eps up after another.

The irony is that TH would have continued not to care and lived a more laidback life away from them without his aunt demon motivating him to take charge with being destitute in any moral and humanity that she and her family is. She build him up to reach that point with her paranoia and and criminal actions.

Timeline is always iffy with weekenders, since much of it is day to day storytelling and yet around four months have passed since grandma moved into the villa (give or take) Since LYOL is always close to our irl date (see christmas episode etc) Hence the leads do know each other for so long at least too, by now.

The best i can say is that it comes from a place of care instead of greed and egoism like with the gremlin. I loved how HS told her how she would never break up with TH even as mother guilttrip mentioned the gym/her work several times as a gotcha. (Also yes, as he mentioned TH should move to another gym, like yesterday lol) So i guess we make this more a problem than HS sees it to be. (Next week we have HS yelling at her momster for being so disrespectful to her bf and i am living for this haha. It is good to see even with all the opposition they won't go down without a fight)
