i laugh about each post here saying SHS' acting is bad or overdone, because it is ridiculous and says more about your cluelessness than anything else. People here wouldn't recognize complex and FLAWED characters and portrayal by its actors thereof, if they were to hit them over the head. And no, nuance is not a skin cream either, yall. Jfc, this is the worst comment section of a drama i have seen in a long time. There is a reason why i am just watching/enjoying this drama without setting a foot into this toxic cesspool here, but gosh yall being hung up on the same dumb shit week after week annoyed me too much now after all. Like sure it is your time wasted but so many here would really profit from simply stop watching and moving tf on to another show. Enough other drama fish in the sea m, especially rn (like i have 14 ongoing dramas on my watchlist) So no need to fixate on what you so obviously dislike. Geez. 🙄

Oh speaking of which, everyone being mad about YP not moving on, pls redirect your whining at his psychotic father who never dealt with his grief and is stuck in it for over a decade, including bitterly blaming other people for it. Feels still like an ineffectual usage of your free time, but there it is at least not misdirected, lol. (since YP obviously stuck around because of his relationship with her mother that is as good as his mother by now which seemed to have been missed by so many here, but w/e)

Still shitty of her to continue to play dead without letting him know she is alive/safe in some way. Especially now where she knows he is working at taesan and about the slush fund that is intended to be used to incriminate him. Among other things. She should really knit less scarfs and less villa squatting and finally do something useful ugh. idk, type up a letter or diy one from a magazine (TRHC style, remember?) to send TH an anon warning, it really is no rocket science, lmao. But nope, her character is reeeeally wasted till now, since the writer wants to drag out the conflict till the end 🙄 And of course it is intended to let TH run into the knives speared toward him, which is so superfluous if she would use some of the many ways available to warn him. Her (plot-induced) passivity is so annoying, ngl.

I had high hopes at the beginning that she would help HS into self realization of her situation, and bond with her before Taeho could but nope nothing. Disappointing tbh. Like her having found a community in the villa is nice to see, but it is overall very pointless for the overarching story and her character. (They also have all magically stopped to wonder about her identity some 15-ish eps in, which was so very plot convenient wasn't it? 🙄)

Atp i wonder what even her purpose is anymore, since she is of no help whatsoever, lol. Her character reminds me of SFL's dad in TRHC in ineffectiveness/pointlessness, with the difference that he at least did sent a warning letter and talked with/warned FL as well, lmao

Ngl im annoyed with grandma that she doesn't warn her oh so beloved grandson in any shape or form of what she knows so he can be prepared and safe from what is to come, but I guess that would be too much of an easy fix for the writer to take, alas. 🙄

hehe, yeah. I think TM and THee being cuckold children is very possible tbh given all the scenes they have with Yeom. (but no one knows except for evil cow and her underling) That being said tho, personally i would still prefer if TH walks away from the chaebol clown circus in the end for a more stress-free life with Hyoshim. (Maybe teach at the university HS studies as it was mentioned that he actually intended to take that career path before hearing again from his grandma and returning to SK) It suits Taeho way better to do so, and if he wants a big family he better gets started on that soon, lol. Let's see where his way will lead tho.

As said i am happy as long his fam is punished, evil cow first and foremost, and TH gets to know the truth about his parents for closure, and reunites with his grandma. Ideally before his wedding with Hyoshim, at that lol. Can't say i care what happens with his cousin tho. but there are only two options... either he doubles down on protecting/covering up for his criminal parents or he finally stops being such a damn naive/gullible mama boi and breaks free 🤷‍♀️😂

Anyway, to add something semi-constructive to the reply notification you get for this: i just have seen pics of them together and you are correct they looked as awkward as ever together, I cannot begin to fathom how they won this prize, but i guess its the weekender effect 🤷‍♀️ I don't like commenting on people's bodies tbh so i won't. tbh, i don't want Taeho to be responsible for all of Taesan either, like i said before he is much happier when having his department to work in but not being the leader of everyone and everything. He never was trained for that either.I am just guessing that the drama is building him up to some kind of reformer structurally for Taesan, which will be bringing him toe to toe with his shitty fam. Beyond that we gotta see where his way leads. But i honestly think he would be happier to leave it someone else to live a more stress-free life together with Hyoshim. But TH won't be sitting idly by either and let evil cow scheme further, nor should he. Atp, i doubt the leader to be TM in the end with all the shady shady things and all covering up he is doing but maybe this will still change if he ever manages to wise up and break free from his parents and expose his mother instead to cover up things further than he already has done, that is (which i doubt ngl, he lacks the guts at least rn)

But you can't convince me TM ain't Yeom's child as is THee, so this is what i meant with TH being the "true heir" (for the lack of a better word) aka the only blood-related Kang grandson. And reason why evil cow hates him so i think. But as said 20 eps are left so much to happen still. I don't reserve the right to be correct with what is a wild guess either. I actually really don't care much about this part of the drama anyway, beyond evil cow getting punished and Taeho being safe and getting to know the truth about his parents in the end, so he can have closure and a happy married life with Hyoshim and future kids. In fact i would have fully stopped caring for it a long time ago were TH not involved bc this whole Chaebol struggle for power plot is rather annoying/trite and TH's fam can go swim with the fishes or deathmatch each other for the "throne" for all i care. But it also standard for a weekender about the rich/poor contrast, so i gotta endure that nonsense to reach the good bits, i guess 😂 (I am far more invested in hyoshim's part of the story and her continuous way to independence with Taeho at her side + deadbeat dad's looming return and its effects on her and her fam)

That would have required FL BIH/Yeondoo to actually be present though which 🙃 But they looked as enthusiastic during the award show as they were during the weekender, so it kinda fits lmao (compared to the current weekender main couple who justifiably won the best couple award, it's night and day tbh)

i mean this is as good as any reason then to get rid of grandma, bc then she cannot object to TM becoming chairman in spite of not being blood related to the Kangs. And have you noticed how she also always only refers Taeho as HM's grandchild, but never TM? (HM did mention seeking out TM bc "he is her grandson too" and evil cow seemed to have not even thought about that) It would also explain why evil cow is hating Taeho for seemingly no reason. Like he has lived his life away from them and never did anything to them, so there is literally no reason for her hostility in itself other than Taeho "being the true heir" and she knows it. Oh also of course to cover up her double murder of his parents. But i actually think the first thing is her main motivation to resent and wanting to get rid of him. So her actually illegitimate child will rise to the highest position, not Taeho. (nvm that he had no interest in it, at least before he knew the truth about his grandma. I think now he found that motivation to shake up things and shake them up good :D)

Gosh this whole chaebol nonsense really feels like a sageuk "struggle for the throne" plot ngl with TM and his parents being the evil ministers wanting to keep the status quo and corruption etc and Taeho being the reformer prince going against all opposition to root out the bad eggs, always in danger of being disposed. Tell me i am wrong here. 😂

I really liked the way she cared for MH (TH's granny) when she was under the weather like it was genuine concern aww. It now feels like a small community of people there and it's something MH noticed too.

And also all the things she keeps saying about the gremlin is spot on and feels like a wink of the writer to the viewers. I'm happy that other than feared with that colleague's shitty apologia of how mothers are 'just jealous' they aren't excusing HS mother's behavior but showing her as consistently horrible without excuses for it.

This waste of space is too sleazy for me to see any sincerity tbh. He actually is the gold digger that the other assholes mistook HS for. Idk if he finds sincerity along the way but at this point I also don't care anymore.

However I do think also that only Taeho is a 'true Kang child' while the two others are 'foul eggs smuggled into the nest' and actually the children of the underling Yeom. His sentence of being unable to be with the one you love all your life is yet another hint for it imo. Bc otherwise this literal criminal devotion to evil cow all the way through and over decades can't be explained.

Ah thanks. yeah i saw that on twitter. Hajun was asked if there is going to be a wedding for the taehshim couple and he basically replied in character that "he wishes to marry hyoshim and hopes she continues to love him (aka Taeho.)" Something like that, it was cute, but i definitely will ffw to the parts that interest me... which aren't many in an award show tbh 😂

haha, it is just that i am a very regular poster here, so i yell a lot about LYOY. As for progress, going great ever since eps 25. Read my above post for it, but gist of the manner is that you are best advised to focus on the leads (together) scenes only for the first 20 ish eps, apply a good amount of skipping to the rest (just enough to still understand what is going on) and enjoy watching it. At eps 25 the writer does snap out of her 24 hours power nap tho and the show has been going strong since.

I love how we went from omg, nothing happens at all for 15 eps or so to all the couples' relationships developing and deepening, villa residents forming a real community caring for e/o with HS gone (out of necessity but still good), oldest brother stepping up, leads being cute, domestic and married already with just missing the official papers basically. oh and there is also a main plot happening i guess 😂 aka TH being re-awoken to the shadiness of his shaaaaady/criminal fam, which hell yeah go off king. Annoying scenes are finally mitigated with warm, funny ones and it is not just suffering all the time. I love how things are moving atm and hope they keep it up so we can solve all of the main plot things in the next 10-ish eps with the baddies punished, and have some room for nice heartwarming scenes and good familial and character development, and ofc Hyoshim's and Taeho's wedding, as it is tradition for a weekender hehe. Ideally they marry a few eps prior to the ending, so we get to see them moving in together and some happy marital life scenes like in OA or HML, but we will see.

(I think they are going to build up TH as some kind of reformer to root out the shady business and people from Taesan. Hence he will still face a lot of adversity and the threat of the slush fund foundation keeps looming. So TH will need all of HS' and future bro in law's support he can get here)

Also i cannot remember when a weekender lead couple made me last giggle and kick my feet so much like HS & TH do. They are so stinkin cute. Especially the goodbye scene in front of HS' apartment had me grinning like an idiot. Adorable as heck <3

I am just happy the show portrays HJ (thru other characters) as the selfish, immature prick that he is and does not make up excuses for it. I really liked what Hyosung's wife ( i can never remember her name lmao) said about him, because no lies detected here, just facts. Even gremlin beating him with the rubber gloves is/was a rare W for that horrible character 🤣 (she enabled his whims for a decade tho in babying him, not to forget.) I am still cross that Mirim is stuck with a dude like that ngl, but at least it brought my best gurls to talk to each other. I really hope we will get more scenes of Hyoshim and Mirim going forward. i just want them both to have a bestie outside of their relationships. But tbh i don't hold my breath for it to really happen, sigh.

Oh, and since it was mentioned that he is "nearly 40" by a character (Hsung's wife?) i think you are correct with your notes about characters ages. Which makes it all the more embarrassing regarding his character ngl. Can't shake the feeling that things do not line up time-line wise (in general) tho but idk.

I bet the bit in the preview is them practice kissing for a role or something and it leads to real one or feelings or some other typical kdrama stuff, haha. I would love this trope were it not HJ, tbh 🙃

I did not read anything about the plot before it started airing (beyond the "parasitic family" part) so i am not bothered by possible changes made before/during airing. Either way, it is high time Yeom meets truck kun, at full speed. That underling is as despicable as his evil master holding his dog leash tbh.

Not only Uee, but Hajun also won as best actor and Uee and Hajun together the best couple award 😁 (very justifiably so, they have excellent chemistry and comfort levels with e/o. It shows they really like e/o friends-wise behind the scenes 🥰 ) Basically they won everything there is to win (regarding the nominations heh)
