There are so many ppl here going "she should date SML" and i feel a lot is due to ML not being your typical romcom ML. Which i love, and his weirdness. It is refreshing in a sea of samey confident, suave ML's tbh. And GKP plays the weird cute so well, already did so in Chicago Typewriter. The narrative also makes him more sus than he really is, typical misdirection, a la Flower Of Evil, i bet. Probably a criminal profiler or something and he is just a very socially awkward bean who thinks he has nothing interesting to say, so he is silent a lot. I can relate to that introvert kind of thinking tbh.
Nothing new here with PMY as perfectly prim FL as she always plays those roles *yawn*, but I really love that we get this type of a character as a male lead, for once.
Shipping SangEun with GwangNam more than anyone here! 🙋😂😂 Their chemistry is the best. Idc if he's her…
Can we not ship the gay character with the female lead, please? This is all kind of yikes, because there are enough straight dudes in the show for shipping purposes without you straightwashing the one gay character we have in a "mainstream" kdrama since a long time.
Oh hi friendo👋 It is good but such a downer, lol. I need to watch something fluffy after this. Tbh, i didn't…
Bossam Steal The Fate is from 2021, so not really an oldie🤣 But yeah it is a historical drama on viki and i am watching the currently airing Good Job atm with the same ML/FL like in Bossam. And since they are having a killer chemistry, i am really curious about that drama and their characters there, heh. Haven't watched a period piece drama in a while too, so it is a nice change of pace as well :D

See, i didn't even watch the trailer,, just went in blind after reading the description😂 But it is an intriguing watch nonetheless, just needs some balance with lighter dramas lol. I also love body switch etc as a narrative device to learn a new perspective/cherish what you have got, so this drama definitely ticks off that box. Hope it does not get too dark tho. We will see.
Oh idk actually, i may pick up bossam steal the fate or something in the rain, on the side. But for now i am gonna stick with kdrama as it helps me with language immersion since i am still busy learning korean, or 저는 지금 한국어를 반년 넘게 배우고 있어요, as i would say now 😉😄 )
Ngl, i lost count how often i had the wish to poke the characters and yell "DO SOMETHING!" in the hour of episode…
I mean yeah in FoE this one plot point was also out there, but it all made sense, not only in the end but in the narrative in general. Its pieces fitted together, no matter how over the top the plot was at some moments, because it was coherently written. But here in IYWUM, it is simply just jarring it does not fit the narrative nor tone/theme of the drama. It lost itself in stupid makjang (action scenes) that adds nothing but whiplash and frustration for the viewers.
Sure, the characters in FoE had rare moments of dumb/misunderstandings too to drive the plot further, but at all time they had agency instead to be rendered to puppets at/in their own show. The not calling the police thing is such a good example for it and i cannot tell you how loudly i yelled at the screen for her to do that xD
Long story short... you can introduce new elements to a drama, sure. But make it make sense, and it does not. At all.
OMG 30 mins in and Im hooked, been waiting for it and forgot it was released first episodes now Ill watch 2 eps…
Oh hi friendo👋 It is good but such a downer, lol. I need to watch something fluffy after this. Tbh, i didn't read the tags or even visited this page after putting it on my PTW, so i mistook it for a comedy or at least something much lighter. Welp, after five minutes it was clear that i was wrong 😳😅
It was fun in the beginning, but felt like a task to complete in the end. 6,5/10.
I only can recommend people who are interested in crime/investigation/romance paired with comedy/found family crew to watch "From Now On Showtime" instead. This drama here is really just a poor version of it, tbh.
Thanks for sharing this. My impression is that the curse words have been eliminated, although they might have…
Yeah, korean is very context dependent, and the "aiiiiish" for example can mean either "oh my god/oh no" (in an exasperated way) or "oh shit/damn it." It depends on the situation. Like it is said, it is also (almost) never translated literally bc this simply does not work well with korean to english. thus translation liberties are applied with subs.
It will be a few years of learning for me still, but ngl, i am really looking forward to not needing any subs anymore when when watching kdrama.
Not sure if I can post it here, but can you recommend some romcoms for me, please? A drama that can give me some…
Most purely romcoms fell flat for me if you look up my ratings for those, but these are the ones i really liked. Aka dramas who offer (a little) more plot than romance alone and are/were, in parts, really overlooked/undervalued by the general viewership:
From Now On Showtime Dali And The Cocky Prince Crazy Love Our Beloved Summer The Law Cafe (currently airing) Sh**ting Stars Thirty But Seventeen Tomorrow With You Chicago Typewriter Romance Is A Bonus Book I'm Not A Robot Shopping King Louie Weightlifting Fairy KBJ From Now On Showtime (yes, mentioned twice bc it deserves more love)
It's so silly I love it... sometimes I wonder if the writers are trolling us or are just plain bad LOL the team…
Everything about the writing feels like trolling, like alone the way FL always stumbles in a very elaborate, sheer ridiculous way into the arms of ML is very tongue in cheek kdrama trope usage tbh 🤣
You know the writer created conflict for the conflict's sake without any rhyme or reason when ALL the characters…
Ngl, i lost count how often i had the wish to poke the characters and yell "DO SOMETHING!" in the hour of episode 14 alone, but tbh, the whole subplot in the hospice makes no sense for a while now, and is dragged out for way too long already. The writers completely forgot about team genie, telling the story of and helping people/fulfilling their last wishes, which had one of the most important pillars of the drama narratively, for some stupid, cheap makjang that could not be more jarring.
(I really want to sit drama writers in the Ha Yoon Ah school of how to end a drama in a satisfying way in tying up all loose ends. (Because From Now On Showtime was one of the very few dramas in 2022 which did that, so far.)
You know the writer created conflict for the conflict's sake without any rhyme or reason when ALL the characters suddenly have been hit with a dumb stick and are subjected to passive viewers of their own story. Which, sadly. has happened in episode 14.
Love the acting and the characters, but dear gaaaaawd is it frustrating to watch because the writers are forcing nonsensical conflict and actions, or rather passivity on them. I hope the last two episodes are better, but after the disappointment of big mouth, this seems to be the next drama that flails and flounders in the end. Alas.
The site that most people watch this on (VIKI) didn't release the latest episode yet. Not sure what the reason…
Oh the more you know, haha. I mean the pre-subbed thing would also explain why the bossam reference wasn't translated properly. Anyway, thanks for the infos, didn't know that before.
Yay, two new episodes of my favorite trash drama (meant in the most lovingly way) is just what i need after a crappy day *gets popcorn and lies back* 🍿 🍿 🍿
I try to be honest (which is why I pay $$ for vpn and Viki Plus), but if I'm going to pay for Viki Plus, I want…
BOTH episodes should be up now. Was the case for me. I always wait for official streaming service releasing the eps, if i can these days due to buffering being atrocious very often on dramacool and co (for me), especially if i wanna skip around.
Tho I don't fault anyone for watching it on alternative sites, of course. I still use them for Disney+ kdramas and the netflix ones that are bound to release only months later in my country (tho since i plan to get vpn soon, this won't be a big issue anymore, hopefully)

I mean tell this viki, not me. I am not defending them, it has been just my experience thus far. In fact, i hate that they basically earn the money while fans do the work for them, unpaid. Would have been better if there were a standard of translation and people being paid for their labor. Instead of them getting a shitty little viki pass and chance of a raffle once in a blue moon.
That sycophantic remark was really unneeded and rude, tho.

But yeah the way they drag it out and let him roam like that is very odd.
