So far the drama feels like a two hours bed brand PPL with some acting scenes in between. Not really that exciting. I appreciate tho that it ain't the typical mid-twenties actors/story, and taking a more mature approach instead.
Hope we see less ads in ads in the next eps tho lol. Like i get it is a somewhat accurate portrayal of their working progress/field, but i would appreciate if the drama would get less minutiae with it all and focus more on the characters and their stories, tbh.
It is a slow but logical build up and burn for what appeared to be fast-tracked at first. ML falls first but is the biggest denier of it in the most adorable pouty way, bc feelings are icky haha. Last episodes he really didn't care to keep up the facade any longer and even accidentally called her his GF at one point which showed how he sees her. I mean of course bc there is *history* here π FL had a crush on her senior cop (Sml) for a decade so at first it seems she ain't interested buuuut sneaky ML is sneaky and slowly worming his way into her heart to the point where it eclipses the teenage crush.
Thing is they are both awkward as hell in a dorky way since they both led a life so far which didn't allow for romance, so it is their first serious love too. Thus they dunno how to go from there but the desire for more is growing further regardless. Doesn't help that they are both Idiots in love where each of them thinks it is one-sided basically π€£ But yeah their partnership, trust and #somarried behavior with and for each other is perfection as is the chemistry between the two leading actors π₯π₯π₯
"SeulHae is not happy about the news of her being assigned to the detective team even though it was her lifelong…
Yeeeeep like before she was always "I want to be with sunbae in one unit" but now where she is, she is like meeeeh what's so special about it? I need to see CCW instead. Such a big change wow.
Oh hell naaaaah. I love Na In Woo but i hated SML and his constant disregard for Sobong's wishes, boundaries and agency. His fixation on her was obsession not love and really creeped me out. Particularly in the later eps. Plus he was constantly overstepping his authority and super rude to Cheoljong, even as it wasn't warranted any longer "in order to protect the queen. Like NO ONE ASKED YOU TO BOO (least of all the queen) STEP AWAY FROM THE MARRIED ROYAL COUPLE DEALING WITH THEIR OWN SHIT AND GET ANOTHER HOBBY: TOUCH SOME GRASS OR SOMETHING π (the fan fight between king ML and SML is still frikkin hot and one of my faves tho, especially since CJ put him in his place haha. And so is the whole "She is my woman" scene between them in an earlier episode)
(I guess starting my kdrama watching career with extraordinary you as second and mr. queen as third drama ever left me impervious to SLS to this day, since the SML's within were such assholes, lmao)
Enjoying this so much! I was itching to start this but waited until Tomorrow concluded. I caught up pretty fast…
πWelcome to the club haha π
I have started to watch "Bring it on, ghost" only to have to watch something "similar" to bridge the long days till the weekend is finally there again and with it S H O W T I M E π
The digital box is just under the screen in this scene!! Shot at 27:54.Also, she don't look at them, but just…
It could be also an acting slip up as looking at the people next to you when talking is a natural reflex and the scene was pretty hectic with her being held/carried away. It happens and is no biggie imo as long you don't play a blind man and constantly look ppl in the eyes during your dialogue scenes like Ahn hyo seop did in lovers of the red sky lmao πππ
My friends are still talking about that ghost speaker part, that it was so "ridiculous and un-realistic" so they…
I used to watch ghost hunting shows aka where a group of people goes into haunted locations with equipment to find proof of the hauntings. Hence to me the idea of using electronic devices to communicate with the dead is very logical and nothing to get worked up about lmao. What are they supposed to do instead? Sit down using an ouiji board spelling out everything letter by letter? Lmao an episode would be 5 hours each then π€£π€£π€£
That is hard as the show feels so unique but the closest to it would be Mystic Pop Up Bar I think. It is more…
No problem. β€οΈ After that hotel del Luna is probably the closest thing. I loved both of these dramas so I'm not surprised at me enjoying FNOS so much tbh
can someone give me kdrama recs with a similar main coupleI'm obsessed with this kdrama
That is hard as the show feels so unique but the closest to it would be Mystic Pop Up Bar I think. It is more somber in tone and slower aka needs a bit till the plot gets rolling and the bg of characters is peeled back buuuuuut it has the same screenwriter and thus the same quirky quality of characters, supernatural setting (evil spirit antagonist) and situations. Plus a fated past life love story that is like a red thread thru it all.
I really enjoyed it after the first few slower eps and FNOS often reminds me tonally of that drama. Particularly when it shifts to something more serious/sad/heartfelt.
I had low expectations when I started this, because I've read that the show's ratings in Korea aren't great. BUT…
With streaming and all in this day and age i would not put so much weight on the ratings as a deciding factor of a drama's quality tbh. Most people just watch it later at their convenience instead of live. Plus it is in a competitive date and latenight timeslot on paid (cable) tv. All factors which led to the bad ratings/impression i guess.
I guess with all that controversy around Africa intro Netflix probably just had a hard pass on this. If it was…
yeah in the age of streaming and "watch content when you want instead to follow a schedule" tv airing quotes have lost their meaning. Not fully of course but to a larger part, i think. Tis a reason why weekend makjang dramas with 50+ eps score as high, as it is often the older generation tuning in then who happens to still use the good old tv to watch, afaik.
It is a plot convenience but a much needed one, as you cannot have the characters scribbling on a piece of paper…
Plus.... I think the point could be moot soon anyway as SH is meant to be able to communicate with the dead like CCW does according to the synopsis. And in the preview to eps 11 Choi said something of SH's power being awakened as well, so maybe it will be that, if the synopsis is not faulty. We will see.
Can someone explain to me why using the speaker to listen to ghost is not creative? It solve lots of issues especially…
It is a plot convenience but a much needed one, as you cannot have the characters scribbling on a piece of paper while they are chasing the evil spirit. Like imagine you watching the crew chasing the baddies with time being of the essence since xy is in danger and will die if they don't stop yx and suddenly they halt to pause for several moments, bc they have to leave detailed direction for SH on paper, lol. It would be like general choi as he tried typing to explain smth to SH lmao. It is just not practical for the flow of the story. and would be jarring instead.
It is not so much based on IRL science than the belief of paranormal researchers/ghost hunting groups that ghost communicate in higher/lower frequencies than humans do and as such devices are needed to communicate with them. Of course none of it is actually scientifically proven, but the idea and eventual GI box built by Ah Reum in the drama is based on the same principle that devices are needed to "bridge the gap" in communication with the dead.
Plus in the drama, the box is only meant to ease their work with SH, not for the general public/to make bank with it, or something. So personally i don't get when ppl are hung up on this fact, nor trying to explain why having a device for SH to communicate with the ghost crew in a FANTASY drama is unrealistic and a drama-dropping dealbreaker, lmao. But YMMV, i guess π€·ββοΈ
i feel the drama waited too long to tell KJ and Woori's bg story and to have as many couple moments as they did. Should have happened in the first three episodes instead right before the events of the eps 6 ending, yknow? For me it made it hard to get even mildly invested into them as couple and i think having their story earlier would have helped a lot here. It would have given KJ another facette and little more depth than just nice but bland "Church choir boy" that he was for the longest time (for me anyway) too.
So as it stands now, my streak of NOT developing SLS remains unbroken (57 k-drama and counting. Guess i am a main leads shipping gal, lol) .and i am glad for the latest episode ending tbh as it promises SOME kind of development for the story at least the next eps.
My issue with the drama is not that it ain't exactly like JTV. Like it is obvious they have to change things to adapt it to korean culture and audience. What is an issue i have with the drama after 5 eps is the pacing. Obv. they have to make sacrifices since you cannot pack 5 seasons worth of story into 14 episodes, but the pacing is still very much off imo. Either it is going at lightening speed with little to no explanation what is happening and why or it crawls to an almost halt in lingering on the most mundane scenes without any care for its limitation of time/eps (that teenage woori school singing scene is a good example here)
For some reason the show does not know any middle ground here, which makes watching it quite jarring. Bc rn i ask myself how/when they even bring in the romance between leads and even a quarter of the important events that happened in JTV with almost half of eps now aired. Especially since little to no progress had been made storywise thus far. π€
Yeo Jin Goo is such a cutie pie in this, but i dunno if i can endure the FL any longer tbh. She is such a whiny, entitled and mean brat who does nothing but complaining and being unreasonably caustic to Yeong Goo. Life is hard boohoo, i get it, but eat a snickers and stop being so miserable all the fucking time. Uuuuugh, i can't remember to have ever watched a drama with such an unlikable FL.
Honestly at this point (halfway through) i ship the cute robot with gainng self respect and leaving her whiny ass wallowing in misery as she does best. Apparently she needs a bf who treats her like shit back, like her ex did with keeping her a dirty secret. Seems like they suit each other since she has as little redeeming qualities as the actor ex bf, lmao.
