The discussion board doesn't seem to be working on this page so I'm posting my topic here:Sorry this is a spoiler…
Not sure about best kisser per se, but KJH's "forget about 'no touching' today" and then going to town with SHS in mr. queen.... like the bit where he turns her around and pins her to the wall after he was pinned to the wall by her, the moments of breathless chase after her lips, daaaamn. It is forever etched into my mind as the first racy kdrama kiss i saw back in January. (just started watching kdrama in dec 21)
And in best CL fashion the kiss was never-ending/went on for over a minute. They both really owned up to the script direction of "kiss like you are starving" haha π
I didn't enjoy MPL much, but CL gave me so much appreciation for him as actor. The way he switches up emotions…
I hope so too, it's sad this stupid af scandal and struggle with his old agency happened when he was just in a better place (mental-health-wise) He was/looked so happy and relaxed in the BTS of Mr. Queen and then all this happened, ughπ I hope his indie movie will do well so he gets good script offers afterwards, as i really miss seeing him in a leading drama role. Like SHS he is able to carry a drama on his own with his acting abilities, like he really *lives* his characters and always gives them so many facets, bless. (He is king of adlibs too, so many of his Mr.Queen scenes you see in the drama are improvised/deviate from the og script, haha)
Oh yeah KJW is hella versatile, just how i like my kdrama actors (hence my love for KJH as you noticed haha, among others) I liked the romance in HPL well enough but the plot was getting ridic later on, and the drama in general would have been better if it were just 12 episodes. I really liked how healthy their relationship was tho. Here is hoping we will see him in more romcoms in the future, bc damn the kiss scenes alone are worth it haha.
So i am aware this is an older kdrama, but god the first episode... i am not sure if i can power through the cringe…
Yeah, i tried till episode 4 but i am not feeling it, any of it. Gotta throw it into the on hold pile and see if it gets less boring later another time. Tho when i watch the starting episodes on 2x speed this never bodes well for the rest of the drama lol.
So i am aware this is an older kdrama, but god the first episode... i am not sure if i can power through the cringe the supposed (already) romantic scenes cause me. It is super-cheesy and just one unbelievable situation after the next. Gonna give it time till episode 4 tho, if it stays like this i am gonna drop, SJK in spite. (Also... he looks way better in vicenzo, imo. That guy is like fine wine haha)
Why are they using a poop joke in the drama title? Isn't it a bit too much... lol
I was wondering the same... and then i started to learn korean and of its more amusing compound words. To explain... it is a wordplay, or rather a very literal translation of the word "shooting star" in korean, which is "λ³λ±λ³" (pyoel ttung pyoel) which is a compound word of "star poop star", hence shooting or rather sh**tting star. Well played π
(unrelated, but they also call (non food) fish "water meat", so yeah. Gotta love the korean languageπ€£)
I assume that someone will eventually clean this jangled English version, but this is what appear on the KBS site:In…
No prob. Translating small texts like these is a good opportunity to learn more/new vocab and train my (still pisspoor) hangul reading skills/speed, after all hehe.
I posted the translation of the (korean) episode 13 synopsis a bit further down, but lemme repost it in a separate…
"Go-jin confesses to /tells Soo-yung he truly loves Shin-ah, who is convinced that Go-jin has no amnesia. An angry Soo Young (then) reveals to Shin Ah that she is his first love,
Meanwhile, Segi convinces Masil-Jang to join hands to (be able to) dismiss Go-Jin from the CEO position and schemes to put GoTop education in crisis for his own benefit"(?) *
(*Context of the last sentence is a bit too fuzzy to grasp for me, but since one word (μν wihan) translates to "for the benefit of" in its conjugated verb form (μνλ€) I surmise he wants to jump in/take over GoTop Education as the new CEO when it is in crisis. One he has caused himself, at that. A plain and simple power grab. But i could also be a bit/way off, as context is everything when translating korean, so take it with more than one grain of salt hehe)
Fun fact. The hangul spelling of Soo Yo(e)ung's name is also the same like the word "swim" in its infinitive form- hence why the machine translation speaks of "the swimmer/swimming", lol π

I feel this may be the case, as, come to think of it, it would make more sense contextually to translate it to "Segi convinces Masil Jang to join hands with him in order to (be able to) dismiss Go Jin from his position as CEO."

Cleaned the initial terribad translation up, as it is a good exercise in korean for me π:

Meanwhile, Segi convinces Masil-Jang to dismiss Go-Jin from the CEO position and plans to put GoTop education in crisis to become its savior"(?) *

Dear Crazy Lovers, Monday is still far away, so please tell me do you know any drama that gives similar vibe while…
Mr. Queen... whoops, you got that covered haha. Welcome to Waikiki, then? Not really mystery but enough craziness and comedy to make up for it and with surprisingly wholesome romance subplots. Vicenzo is great too, and is a lot in the dark, quirky humor department with lovable characters and a badass, smart ML/FL. Lots of scheming from the villains too with Vicenzo finding *creative* ways to counter it, hehe. That drama is a long time investment with 20 episodes a 85-90 minutes tho, but well worth it. If you liked Mr. Queen, you will find yourself right at home with Vicenzo (has a somewhat slow start like CL too)
Low rating? Negative comments? Where? I only see ppl raving about it here in this comment section once they took the plunge :D
The drama is underrated bc it did ran against/in the shadow of ABP for a long time and Disney+ does a pisspoor job of promoting it. So all the (still too little) praise it got till now has been word of mouth and fans on twitter etc doing their best to pick up the disney+ promotion slack. Here on MDL stupid ppl also rated it very low when there were only two episodes out and they saw "amnesia" in the tags and never looked any closer. Their loss tbh.
Plus why care so much what other ppl say? I could repeat myself in telling you that this drama is way more than what meets the eye at first, a refreshing, tongue in cheek take on kdrama romcoms with a slow burn, believable cnaracter and enemies to lover progression ... but why not try it for yourself? MDL is not to be trusted, in general. Like I have seen highly rated shows where i was bored out of my mind (i never got the hype about 2521 for example, it was a just a solid 7,5-8 show for me) and other drama below 8.0 rating where i had a very good time. In the end it comes down to personal taste and this is always subjective.
So just try it? And if you do, as a tip, stick to it thru the very slow first episode. As it really picks up after the introductory phase (episode 4, at its latest) Bc this is one of the rare dramas that gets better with every episode instead the other way around. Imo, if it can stick the ending parts now, we will have a kdrama sleeper hit on our hands that will win over ppl in time... and already doesπ
Edit: which i just saw you already watched, so good choice haha. Leaving it here tho for any other potential lurker as that drama deserves more love than it gets, tbh.
I just changed my list of favorite actors and Kim Jae Wook is suddenly at the top of it. I watched Her Private…
I didn't enjoy MPL much, but CL gave me so much appreciation for him as actor. The way he switches up emotions from comedic to heartfelt at the drop of a hat and that in a very believable, expressive way is now up there for me with Kim Jung Hyun (who is capable of doing the same and i miss seeing him onscreenπ)
Ep 1 was suck for me. It doesn't do justice to the rest of the episodes. Episode 2 is starting to get more interesting.
Yuuup and tbh, i tend to power thru even "boring" ones on 2x speeds if it has elements I like... then i wanna see how it ends xD This is where you notice i am still somewhat a kdrama newb as I probably need to get better in being more ruthless regarding dropping shows that I don't enjoy as much haha. But yeah, one episode or even two is far to early doing so, imo.
It is frankly a hilarious, wacky dynamic AND does the duality of a well executed enemies to lovers progression with believable character development, and many subtle, heartfelt moments in between with grace. Imo a very underrated gem.

I feel one single episode is generally not enough time to gauge the quality of a drama. I personally give every drama i start at least time till episode 3 to 4 to see if it is worth my investment. Especially since some shows tend to start slow but then it picks up once it is past the introductory phase with the plot. Which is totally the case with CL, btw.

(And i really liked how the soft and loving reunion kiss in the ending episodes contrasted their first one: https://youtu.be/XA8Gb0_kT2M?t=44 )
