is it a worth watching drama? and is it considered better than other recommendations?
Yes best wacky comedy turned mystery thriller i have seen this year, leaves you guessing till the end. Don't be in this comment section atm tho, it is a minefield of spoilers. Best go in blind.
It reminds me of "My perfect stranger", the culprit's motive does not convince me. But it was Indeed a plot twist…
he killed because he was excited to see their last memories flashing in their eyes and witt him being a complete psycho that is as good as any motive tbh. I actually prefer it sometimes when there is no grand plan for murder, but the killer just enjoys it bc it makes it all the more evil.
This should honestly have had its end in this episode so the characters have time to heal in the last one, but noooope we are going to drag it all till the end and then have a five minute epilogue or so π
Also yebun redeemed herself kinda but she still annoyed me for full 50 minutes or so, lol
Currently watching and fucking hell bong yebun is the dumbest FL that has ever lived. That is all i have to say. And that is not a spoiler, but a fact lmao
So the healing spell actually worked, but then the gardener used black magic on him using the plant in his office…
exactly. All the spells worked, the leads were just led to believe spells are not real due JK's intervention. Which was needed to make Shinyu realize his feelings of love for Hongjo are true and have nothing to do with a spell (well they always had been since he was attracted to her from the get go. The spell only enhanced them so that he stuck around her and got to know her and form a connection for real as well) but they worked all along. Which especially shows in Hongjo, because after the fair skin spell, she never ever blushed in the way she did before (noticed that?) it is not just others noticing her skin to be glowy, but especially the blushing that went away. And HJ herself remarks on that too.

her crush on SW feels like a teenage one on an idol vs the real, mature connection she has with Yangyeol. She is herself with him whereas she only shows her best side to SW, changes voice and demeanor to "be more attractive." For example he was the only one who got her to eat after days having not when her grandpa died. Things like that.
But she has never stopped to notice how his treatment and perception of her has changed, how much he has softened toward her, so she still thinks he is the same jerk in a way and would never see her in a romantic way (it is why she reacted this way when he said "date me instead") It does not help that YY doesn't know how to approach this more directly and how it is not the right time for it either with the serial killer on the loose. Hence he is loving her in the way he can rn, which is very much acts of service, protecting her, making sure she is safe and sound, checking in with her, catching the killer that is after her. Because only after that is done and she had some time to heal can their relationship change and bloom into something more. Hence i believe we won't get classic lovey dovey scenes with them and more of a last episode hint/realization and/or hug (after a timejump)
Today we finally get a new eps, felt like weeks without somehow. Unfortunately we only get one episode this week too due to the Korean holiday (I think) π

yeeeep this is what i have been saying all along hehe. The spells did actually work and Hongjo even said so with the fair skin spell (notice how her blushing went away?) but the curse of the creep had the healing spell nullified it seems, and Shinyu is constantly around the cursed plant for hours on end. Hence his worsening condition.
Can someone PLEASE trip and fall into this damn plant. Assistant guy, you have ONE job.
I'm looking forward to the next episode. I'm already invested in the main love triangle with the fitness trainer…
Same, i am glad none of the female characters are taking their shit. Hyoshim calling Taeho out on his misogynistic comment was so good and very much needed to set the tone that this does not fly in this show. I am so glad to see the female characters are written like that bc i still have war flashbacks of TRHC's Yeondoo in mind who wasn't allowed to do anything without a man and even BEGGED her abusive shithead ex to pls pls pls leave her alone, yikes π¬ Hope it continues this way as their dynamic with their male LI's is really fun. (this author really loves her enemies to lovers trope because all the couples embody it and start off disliking each other lmao) And now we have also a lady who is gonna school FL's egoistic student brother, heh.
Too bad we only get one episode again, this weekend, ugh. Thus the introductory phase feels like lasting forever in the show.
That isn't the case if you're paying close attention. He dumps her when she shows up uninvited in EP3 when she…
Exactly, well said. And it is the polar opposite with Hongjo. He checks in with her several times throughout the day, fusses over her, worries when she does not text back instantly, makes plans to meet after work and eagerly so. He texts and calls her whenever he has a free moment, tells her that he misses her when they cant meet for a day. He is a cuddly puppy with HJ who seeks her proximity and hugs, loves to hold hands or cuddle in bed/sleep next to her, and is so very down to kiss her whenever she wants lol. Also he plays along with her cute antics, is even charmed by it instead of annoyed. (that octopus clinging to his leg scene <3) He is so whipped lmao, to the point that he is even ignoring the bloody hand despite knowing it is her "causing it" he is staying with her and even afraid as hell to lose her because of it.
Like this is the same Shinyu who sat at NY's side like a robot, and supposedly was cold and distant, did not like physical contact or hold hands. When this is just due to NY and him never ever having loved her, because this guy actually LOVES to cuddle with his gf Hongjo, lmao.
The ending sucks, but what sucks more is how all the female characters were literally thrown away so the men can…
This is indeed the main issue I have with this show. The abysmal treatment of any and every female character within. Talk about fridging them all so the men can be sad for a hot minute and 'gain motivation.' Shitty writing with misogynistic undertones, quite frankly.
