Yeah if watching (more) family dramas taught me one thing it is patience with an unfolding story, sometimes to a ridiculous amount even. (looking at you TRHC) But here, all fine the progress is very slow but there, bit by bit approach and development of feelings and relationships. Hope for more past life infos next week tho.

Been doing that for 25 weeks as The Real Has Come was airing, so doing so 8 weeks is nothing in comparison 😂 Then again i do enjoy the messiness of it all, it is unlike TRHC at least entertaining and the romance is romancing (not comparing these two shows, just the viewing experience you described, mind)

Nah, he may play the all experienced and suave guy, but in truth SY is a complete awkward doofus in relationships and in front of Hongjo in particular. Like he said his heart has never beaten this fast for anyone and he was never in love with anyone either before HJ, so these feelings are all new to him and overwhelming. He is so virgin coded in matters of the heart it is endearing 😁

No surprise he is kinda behaving like a boy on the playground pulling the pigtails of the girl he likes bc he does not know nor has it learned better. With these parents and their imbalanced relationship it is not really a surprise he is incapable of healthy emotional expression, though. While his mother may be genuine in her affection for him, his father does not care for SY beyond appearance and status that he upholds as the "good son." It is the same with NY, she found him to be a shiny pretty thing to possess and a man "befitting her status" so she pursued him till he probably gave in or his father told him how she would be the ideal match, powerful connection and all. So everything about their relationship feels like an joseon arranged marriage kinda deal, with no affection held beyond the surface. NY just wants to keep him at her side because he looks good there and makes HER look most of all (they envy her all for such a handsome bf after all) , no matter if he is happy there or not. It is all very superficial, psychotic, and overly narcissistic. A curse of its own kind, if you will.

Oh for sure, his possessiveness makes no sense. It is just that i can momentarily disregard it for this episode alone, but i have not forgotten his weird ass behavior as though he is her husband (to be) I also don't trust him fully bc as we see next week he gets back to his shady self with SFL, so yeah. Would have connected the characters and story better if JK would have been a longtime friend or something, but i also think that he maybe plotted HJ's death in the past with the princess NY. Most likely supported by past SY's fam too. Hopefully we get to see more of what happened in the past next week.

Hajoon is/was also in Crazy Love, in case you have watched that. That is where i know him from most as i have not watched his other works yet, outside the new weekend drama that has started last weekend :D

the first two episodes are introductory but it has already a way fresher and much more modern feel than TRHC. The leads are going to have an enemies to lovers dynamic with their bickering (and Hajoon/Taeho being a brat) continuing next weekend. Both fams are trash in their ways as it is usual for a weekender starting out and we have a disney-eque designated villain this time, no subtility at all which i can appreciate the commitment for lmao. Has some very typical things for a fam drama you will recognize, but i really like how it is set up and structured so far. Every character is well introduced and all. The maknae couple seems a lot of fun this time around too. And thanks to its gym setting it reminds me to work out on the weekend as well lol

Remarkable is also the lack of a second female lead swooning over a fully uninterested ML, so we get a break from that shitty trope at least hahaha

this was actually the first episode where i liked his character. Idk, maybe watching Hajoon as Taeho in his newest drama is getting to me, but he was even endearing here with his bad flirting and even worse date ideas to impress the lady. Car camping in minus 12 degrees, cool cool, literally 😂 Too bad that HJ was way past being impressed and down bad for Shinyu atp, so even the chicken PPL could not help matters. And also my endearment for JK will only last a week, as he seems to get back to being shady next week, with SFL no less. Oh well there is always watching Hajoon being a brat in LYOL, i guess 😂

Still, i detected no lies in the things he said, With SY being as shit in communicating his promise made with NY (not that she intended to ever let him go, black magic and all but he does not know that) toward HJ which would have saved her a lot of heartache and confusion and problems, i don't blame JK for reacting as he did. It will be different when he is outright rejected by Hongjo and still is gonna meddle but since no one in this show is ever taking a clear stance... well the messy relationship car keeps cruising 🙃

Ikr? But i bet not even a quarter of it registered with Shinyu with as close, nearly pressed at him, Hongjo was. I liked how Rowoon added a visible gulp here as he looked up, it was very subtle but showed his "suffering" well 😁

Maybe it is because i have been watching a lot of weekend dramas lately but i am not bothered by the slow pace atm, i still am very much entertained. Even or because the characters are sort of a mess like i know it from family dramas hahahaha. The leads make it work imo (and i sat thru 50 badly written eps of The Real Has Come the past six months, so in comparison this is a breath of fresh air and a masterpiece xD)
