Truuuuuue, would have been nice. Honjo is on her own in this mess with SML creeping up and complicating things further, but i also cannot blame him for trying his luck at least once. It is only after he is rejected and continues his pursue that it gets very uncomfy which, ugh seems to be the case next week. (maybe i am more lienent toward hajoon now bc i enjoy him in the weekend drama LYOL atm lol)

Honestly Shinyu also needs someone in his lane that gives him the needed kick in the ass to get his things in order, as he is as alone as HJ with his friend looking at him as if he has lost it completely now at dinner. Too bad the couple is not more connected with the leads tho, would be interesting, and helpful to untangle at least a bit of this mess haha

For real, this would have been too straightforward for Shinyu, Because he is like a boy on the playground who janks at your ponytail bc he likes you and wants your attention, and yet denies it when being asked directly. He has never learned to emotionally express himself in a healthy way and it shows and also that he is the first time in love overall bc he does not know fuckall how to deal with it or where to go from there. But with that parents and their askew relationship, i am not surprised whoops. Not exactly the best role-models to have, growing up. And he has no one to talk to about it to who could just give him the kick in the arse needed, unfortunately.

SY needs to grow up and a pair quickly or his (unfounded) guilt toward SFL gonna land him in front of the wedding altar after all with how not firm he is with everything. As i said the chars are a mess, but an entertaining one. It is at least not your bog standard romance kdrama due to that heh.

i really like the confrontation in the office between the leads with things that needed to be said, but lbr all these characters and their relationships are a mess. She is jealous of him and he of her, but no one is cleaning up on the aisle 45, okay then. It is still very entertaining tho 😂

I guess this drama's 55-51 pairing has the healthiest relationship lmao (they remind me so much on the older pairing in Behind Your Touch, just with 100% less 2521 parodies haha)

i love how Shinyu did not lose a single minute after breaking up with that cray cray crayfish and only made stop at a flower shop on his way to Hongjo lmao 😂 Wish he had this kind of energy a bit earlier but oh well it needed the certainty of his feelings for HJ in order to do so i guess.

We have hints of NY being a princess in joseon times so makes sense that ML's fam was as keen to marry him off to her as they are now. Maybe SML was her bodyguard or an official in the king's court. I bet they knew each other and she plotted with him back in the days as she does now. I love hajoon in the weekend drama Live Your Own Life as ML but here he is really pissing me off. The lvl of entitlement he shows in regard of HK is galling just bc she used to like him. Like dude you missed your chance she owes you NOTHING, now move tf on. Yikes, this is so weekend drama level writing of the second leads i cant lmao.

Today's episode confirmed that it is indeed past Hongjo's hand. Guess this explains why Shinyu looks like liking the touch a lot at times hahaha. But yeah, i think too that is her touching him moments before she died probably. Maybe past Honjo got murdered by his fam to ensure he is going to marry the princess (past NY) ...hence the curse/touch of bloodied hand.

From next week's preview it looks as though both second leads team up to break them up. Could be wrong since no subs there but still them talking is already 🙄

Oh a detail i forgot in my textwall is how... everything about SY's and NY's relationship screams arranged marriage that is done for status and power for the families, without regard of what the people involved want. It would explain why NY clings to SY so much too as he makes her look good... it is all about appearance, maybe even control, and not at all romantic feelings. The show did make it clear how SY falling for HJ was/is the first time he ever experienced romantic love and all these feelings (hence also his confusion, muddied further thru the potion ) so it feels it has been one-sided love (at a point at least since NY pursued him) from the get go and he gave in for his family's sake. I do wonder tho, if we get to see the past life parallel with him being forced to marry a joseon NY version (princess) while loving past HJ?

Omg, thanks. No i am not an english major but i am taking as a huge compliment since english is not even my native language (german here) 😁. I used to write a lot (of fic) for a decade or so, so i guess something stuck around of it and it definitely helped to improve my english by miles as it is like my native tongue to me by now.

But tldr: It is just a lot of rage and decade of english usage that made me very verbose in this second language, cue those textwalls haha.

We have clear progression in the feelings of each leads for each other, Shinyu in particular went from "ugh, i don't like you" to "i am forced to like you due to the spell make it stop", to "is it really the spell why i like you?" over "there are no spells so these feelings are just fleeting" to "No matter if there is a spell or not, I love you." What a journey this man took in 9 eps, lol. Him being so clear on his feelings for her after waking up (+ preview) tells us that he dreamed of his past life in detail and it also showed in him being clingy and soft when seeing Hongjo after waking up (not wanting to let her go, wanting be with her) as he was fully aware of having loved her throughout the ages.

That is one major flaw the show's writing has, the leaving out of too many details to fill them in a only later eps. It makes the show not really a good watch when airing as they leave too many blanks for the viewers to fill in themselves. It should be more clearer on how the scenes we saw at the end with their past selves is exactly what SJ also saw. And a few more scenes from the past would have been helpful too atp, but oh well. Also the show remains unclear on why SJ does not ditch the biatch even with his feelings for HJ, except when you go clue-hunting throughout the eps that make him look a bit less bipolar lmao.

First his feelings for HJ were unwanted, bothering then he was questioning if it wasn't real after all, and thus maybe feeling guilty toward SFL which explains part of his passivity. The other are clearly family obligations with his father not caring one bit for SJ's feelings (setting the date without telling him etc) and yet another was his belief that his feelings for HJ were only temporary. It is what he just called them in last week's episode, which ain't fair to anyone. But now he KNOWS for sure he is in love and has loved HJ thru past lifetimes, even. Nothing more clearer than that to finally finally stop hesitating, which he did in coming back for HJ and confessing to her. And in today's eps finally calls it quit with SFL.

But of course witchy bitchy won't go down without a fight. I always kinda thought that he is magically compelled to stick around her, at least to a point, and now we have seen her going to creepy flowerman stalker with SY's clothes. So um, yeah. Definitely bad magic involved here. I bet his sickness got acerbated by the curse and bc Hongjo was no longer in the possession of the box. (I think this is why she got sick as well) As soon she was again, it feels a lot of things got better for him and them too (also the bloody hand being her past selves' explains why SY seemed to like it at times is amusing me ngl lmao) Kinda wonder what the spell was HJ did then after retrieving it, which is another stupid withheld detail that suspends viewers in confusion for too long (on the other hand, the non-linear storytelling makes it perfect for bingewatching) but seeing how she tells SY that the spell worked it has to do with him, i guess.

Hongjo in general has given up all pretense to not have a lot of feelings for SY in this eps, like gurl is even worrying about him when she herself is feverish, and asking JK for details. Ngl, SML appearing right after stalker hunted her and him giving her sleeping pills is sketchy. so i am happy she remembered SY's warning words and did not take the pills. Better being paranoid than dead, i say 😂 It may be a red herring but hajoon plays the bad guy with a kind face so well, lol. In general she was worrying a lot about SY, calling, texting and missing him. Absence makes the heart grow fonder indeed. Not her being super disappointed when the text she got back then after waiting and waiting was from JK checking in with her instead lmao. Of course she is hesitant to give in to these feelings due to the whole NY situation and all, but she no longer denies being in love with him as the whole episode shows. She was so happy when he returned to her at the festival instead to go on the trip (another scene we may see today???)

Speaking of, this whole scene was pure distilled kdrama romance bombast, so beautifully done with the fireworks and swelling music as they walk toward each other, the world falling away as they only had eyes for each other. The whole past scenes with the horse ride and its changing of seasons has been wonderfully, aesthetically pleasing cinematography in general and well seems that SY has always been a flirty boi, but only with past and present Hongjo, which makes sense as with her he can be himself and comfortable, unlike with his fam and NY. So cute that her past self did blush in the same way but of course their story will have an inevitable tragic end. Otherwise there would be no curse and need for a do-over in modern times heh. I hope we get to see more details of their past life, and a lot of filling in blanks left in the last episode, bc this is really needed to have any kind of story coherence that gets lost more and more the more the writer asks the viewer to fill them all in themselves, lol.

There is not that much in eps 9 to talk about, but here my way too long takeaways anyway lol:

No, it won't since it is customary to film the first 10 eps before the drama starts airing, so they have a little headroom to find and film with a new actor in his stead.

Shinyu heart-eyeing his phone screen reading HJ's worried messages, not noticing a word his friend is saying or anything else around him... this man is so in love omg

Also not Hongjo staring at her phone and messages sent every minute and being so happy when they are finally marked as "read." These two, i can't 🥹 🥹 🥹

Yep they used to do this release everything weeks after airing two episodes a week (despite almost if not all eps already released) crap but then they cracked the code of getting all the viewership if they release it worldwide after airing, instead of losing most of it to pirate sites lol.
