This isn't a 50 eps family or 120 eps daily drama, so i think we are safe from that in regular kdrama (nowadays) π π π
Gives me warflashbacks to Cha Chawoong in FNOS tho after he fell into coma, so i expect it being used in the way here for the story of their past lives π
Saaaaaaame π i bet my proverbial hat that a lot of what we see now with the whole "we love each other but cant be together" is reflected in their past lives in the exact (angsty) way.
All my ongoing dramas are teenager right now as they are all stuck in their angsty phase hahaha, I think i should try watching a silly romcom on the side to even things out. But the good thing is having the angst now like here means happy times later than the other way around. Not sure when i have seen so much "we cannot be together" pining packed into a singular drama tho, oooooooh delicious.
More tidbits later, have no time for another essay right now π
Also i guess we have reached the "comatose ML in order for him to dream about and show us their past lives in full detail" part a la From Now On Showtime. Noice π
"You are in denial right now! You started liking someone, but won't admit it."
Pot meets kettle as HJ is giving love advice to the kid. Look who is talking π
And the best is, the kid knows what is up and called her out hahahaah. They really use vino veritas and children wisdom as tropes so hard here. I love how they keep figuring things out and say the truth when drunk and, in HJ's case, talk with the boy π
Here is the highlight reel i talked about further down-thread. It features a lot of char and story details of the introductory episodes, so if you don't want spoilers maybe best not to watch:
Whether or not the spells are real, Shinyu and Hongjo are real to each other. Like, they squabble, and never make…
Aww thank you. I used to write a lot in the past (hobby-wise) so i kinda look at characters and story from a writer's pov bc old habits die hard apparently. If a story grabs me i love to understand the in and outs of it and of its characters. Glad you like that haha
Character and family Descriptions from KBS site :https://program.kbs.co.kr/2tv/drama/hyosimfamily/pc/detail.html?smenu=e126f2Kang…
There are a lot more chars here than in TRHC which means a lot more story focus on them and a lot more love lines. Handled and structured well as i expect this weekend experienced writer to do, this has a lot of potential and things to explore.
There is also a woman who has her eyes set on Taemin so you can expect for this loveline to happen and the love triangle being much more the "make leads realize their feelings for each other" sorts. Look at this character chart, it is pretty obvious:
I guess Na Yeon cheating will give Shin Yu a βvalid reasonβ to break up with her when he finds out about it.…
Yeah that is probably his way out. What ppl do seem to forget when saying why does he not break up with her is that there is a lot of obligation and pressure is put on him being the good son and act and date "according to his status" and NY's fam is powerful so breaking up without harming his fam is not easy either. It is a cultural thing too. Filial piety and all.
The spell works. Since they didnt see any sudden change in fair skin spell and the doctor saying about neuro coupling…
Yeah. As said, the whole episode was supposed to make them think none of the spells work to let them take a long hard look on their feelings for each other (especially Shinyu) without falling back on that excuse of it is just spells and doubting their validity. Kinda like a pause button but whether they do work or not is still left open by the narrative π
Friendly reminder that the obvious person actually was the killer in Crash Course in Romance" too. So that argument "how it would be too obvious if that person would be the killer" is not fully valid. Sometimes writers do enjoy hiding someone in plain sight, for example with the viewer in the know but characters in the dark, just saying :D
