I have to say that 50 eps family sagas is not my fav. I only stumbled onto Eagle Bros by chance. I prefer the shorter 12-16 eps dramas. Of course, you don't have that luxury with c-dramas. They are almost always 30+ eps. I'm the same. I used to finish every show I started but nowadays, I'm more selective. It is better for my mental health to drop a show early than suffer through it and then regret the decision. ;)

Thanks for the tip on Wanna Be. Have to say that one slip passed my radar. ;) Sounds interesting but when you consider there were over 150 dramas releases each year in China, originality is hard to come by. BTW, speaking of Family Dramas, I'm watching Eagle Brothers atm. It is tropey and melo but love the leads. :)
I would like to read every review you write šThe reason why am dropping this drama..36 episodes (why does china…
Thank you, @Nelly for your comments. Unfortunately, that's a lot of Asian dramas in a nutshell. Most are tropey and a lot of tropes are based on watching the FL suffer to some degree. If we are lucky, we get growth and redemption with a HEA ending. Is it a bad thing? It depends on whether the show can deliver something we can get behind. They want us to be invested. It is a thin edge. I have watched shows that made my blood boil but is a smash hit. They are formulaic for a reason. After writing 320 reviews, I can spot a trope from space. LoL
Oh, don't get me started on length of c-dramas. Even the government knows that and institute a 40 eps limit on series but what do productions do? They cut a 70 eps series into season 1 and 2! It is all about return on investment over there. ;)
Even though I rate this drama higher (8.5), I agree with everything you said. Like you said, it started off so…
Thank you for your kind comments. I think you nailed it about the ML. I actually watched several of his earlier dramas and in all cases, the chemistry between him and the FL is a struggle. Yes, they all pair up in the end and have a HEA ending. However, he didn't make me swoon. He is a good actor and delivers solid performances but being a romantic lead takes a certain je ne sais quoi... ;)
agreed on all accounts, although I think 8 is still too generous for this. My main issue was with the writing…
I totally get your point. :) In my defence, my score is based on the show as a whole. If it was based on the plot only then it would be lower but there were some good bits. The biggest problem for me is more the "failure to launch" aspect. All the stars are aligned towards the end but what was finally delivered was lame.
So spot on! Your review sums up exactly how I feel about this drama, even down to the comparisons to k & c dramas.…
Thank you so much for your kind words. I feel the same. Some j-drama romances can be toxic as all hell but when they want to bring on the sweet love, they can dial it right up and throw in the matching set of skinship. ;) That is one aspect K and C dramas seldom do well.
My question is how did so many people fan girl this drama without having any sense of critical analysis? I think…
I would love to read your review if you can type it out again. :) You nailed it when you say ppl fangirl over a show/star. Ask no questions when your idol is on stage. It is mob mentality. You don't want to be the lone distractor. I don't set out to be critical about any show nor would I go in with blinkers on. ;) I just write reviews as I see them. Warts and all. Cheers! :)
thanks. nice review. sometimes. i cant get into side stories.either i dont like specific actor/chatacter , or…
Thanks for your kind words. I have to reread the review. LoL It was a while since I watched it. Hmm, yes, it has the potential but it really wandered around the garden path and the pacing and the plots of the show got more and more inconsistent as it goes along. That's the problem with a 30+ EP drama. Some show has a clear focus, some just seems to lose track and pad it out as best they can. Sadly, this is the later.
God, your theory! I actually felt pretty okay about them breaking up, because clearly they had a lot on their…
Thank you for your comment. It made my day! I know the ending is open to interpretation. I would like to put my own spin on it and I think it is a nice ending and it is plausible. ;)
