I have to say that the final confrontation between Magistrate Wei and "Mr. Xue" was one of the most oddly moving…
I found this rather anticlimactic. I think it would have done better to have more dialogue. Magistrate Wei simply revealed himself. Mister Xue Have a throwaway line of potential right and they killed each other. Can you imagine how moving it would have been if Wei Had passionately lamented the loss of their friendship and Xue's evil turn. If he had lamented what he had done because of Xue's actions. Granted there was too much death for them to live, But perhaps they could have died at the hands of the bailiffs.
Cool FL, Decent ML, and some comic highlights couldn't save this one for me. In fact, it was so self aware of its topic that it got in the way of me believing the real love story.
This is one of my early dramas and I enjoyed it thoroughly until the romance wasn't fulfilled. I don't much about kpop so D.O was just and actor to me. I enjoyed his character; especially when 'uncomfortable'. :-)
I just finished lady night and this review is the closest to my feelings. I have some frustrations, Specifically, The medical manipulation at the end and Mun-su's pulling away near the end. His rejection of her earlier on was similarly frustrating. I liked the characters. Almost all of them, even the selfish Director. I really appreciate your comments about all the characters around Gang-du. Such rich, well acted performances . Thank you for mentioning his supervisor at the work site. A minor but noticeab performance. Oh that said, Thanks for the solid review.
I have found more best of all time lists to be click bait lately. Is just name your list accurately. There are some good movies here but some that definitely don't belong on a BOAT. Steel Rain is a personal favorite.
I enjoyed it. It is an excellent blend of the saifi and historical genres. The movie is fun action packed with great acting. I will concede that it is over long and that I was tired by the time it was over. But there is so much to love. Check it out!
