Because of the really good ratings and reviews I was tempted to watch it, but when I watched trailer 1 on viki the drama seemed more like a comedic plotline, which isn't normally my cup of tea (I like drama haha). Can someone tell me if this is a mostly comedic drama, or will there at least be some dramas and obstacles for the characters? How is the romance? Is it slow burn?
The opinions here are so horrible but I hope it's just a question of taste. I'm on episode 8 right now and so…
Thank you for this comment! I was highly anticipating this drama because I absolutely fell in love with Ashes of Love, who the ML and FL were both in. When this drama came out I didn't realize it was out until about a year after it's release, and by then the comments and ratings were all plummeted to the ground. I hate to admit this, but ratings and reviewes (especially the top useful reviews) tend to sway my motivation for a drama, and because of all these bad ratings I have yet to start the drama.
Is the romance slow burn? Dramatic? I'm a sucker for obstacles in a romance, something slow burn.
I finally finished this masterpiece! I really enjoyed watching the character development for most of the characters (especially sh'er, I live for his and sun's brotherly bond). As an avid romance watcher, I do admit the romance was lacking in comparison to other shows, but on an emotional connection between Sun and Change, I could really feel their chemistry without the need of overly-romantic scenes.
Now, for my unpopular opinion (I assume): (My rant would be so much longer, but I'm trying to make this as spoiler-free as I can, and that limits a lot of my rant) I really did not like Mimi Guli from the start. She's as useless as Shuyu for most of the series, but at least for Shuyu he was just a boring character, and the show really pointed him towards the irrelevant route... the show, however, really tried to portray Mimi as someone we should like through the story up to the end of the series. I don't like her, her personality, her character, I could never connect or understand her. I understand her circumstances, but the character had little to no backbone. If Leyan, a character who grew up sheltered, could get a backbone, I would hope a character like Mimi and her backstory would as well. Overall, she was just annoying lmao and a waste of screentime that could have been used to fuel more Leyan+Haodu scenes. //endrant
Otherwise, all other characters I could feel and connect and grow emotions with/for their actions. Highly recommend this series to anyone who's considering watching! Because aside from Mimi, I thouroughly enjoyed the series as a whole.
I remember when this was airing I added this to my 'to-watch list' for when it finishes, and at the time the rating was 8.5, is there a reason the rating dropped to a 7.9?
Wow, I just started the series and I'm already hooked! It's rare that a series gets me in the first few episodes! I look forward to what's to come in the show.
I have finished it! *cry* Anyone wants translations or spoilers just comment below and I'll do my best. I want…
Would you be able to spoil if anyone gets together in the end, like a confirmation that there are still pairings that survive to the end. Does anyone get married?
This was a light and enjoyable show. The first two episodes were laugh out loud funny in how they parodied k-dramas,…
I was a little dissapointed that the stalker ex boyfriend plotline solved itself way too fast haha, but props to them for really keeping the abused wife murder case going through almost the whole series
The beginning (first 2 episodes) were super cliche, but I really enjoyed the storyline from after those episodes! It wasn't as cliche as the first 2 episodes portray it to be, though once it got to the last 2 episodes it got a little draggy. I felt that they could have skipped out on one of the episodes, but overall the ending was super cute! (yay for happy endings)
Yeahh the earlier episodes are superr slow, if anything you could also skip straight to 20-21 since the mortal realm arc is rarely referenced again. (aside from when donghua realizes that fengjui was with him during his mortal realm trial) From 21 is when the real canon story starts!

Why'd they have to keep her for so long in the drama.
