I had such high hopes for this show but it's become a generic idol drama after all 😐
It is certainly not an idol drama. it is a drama that does not focuses heavily on romantic, stylized storyline delivered by pop idols or traffic stars. it is a drama based on an exciting, captivating and refreshing storyline with plenty of family plots, political intrigues and personal endurances and sacrifices in wartime delivered by plenty of side characters alongwith the main cast. One has his/her own choice of dramas, but this is certainly not a generic idol drama as you call it.

she was literally out to death by her family, she doesn't even bear her family name any longer, why the hell he has to go to on his knees for their approval of marriage. This is so out of character and unnecessary.
am on episode 10, must say this drama moves fast with a very entertaining, refreshing storyline. To me it has a better pacing and doesn't waste screening time in repetitive themes as in Royal Bethroal.
just started watching, looks intriguing with a great cast. can't form any specific comments at this moment except one, what is wrong, whhat trend is it that the make up artists cover people's face with white powder, especially the leads, the first scene shows the male lead all white in the face, red lipstick, the make up is so heavy, too heavy and it just doesn't happen here in this drama, it is everywhere,, all period dramas have painted the face of the cast as if they were performing operas on stage!
I only wish the screenplay writer, the director, editor and hey makeup artists too could see comments here so that would know what a failure they have made out of this drama wasting a good cast. Only a few dramas actually drop in ratings when they reach the finale, this is one of them.

It Is beyond me why screenwriter would change the novel to this extend with the consent of everyone Who matters. This is not an open or particularly sad ending but It takes away all the built up expectations of some satisfactory closing scenes (wasting precious time on flashback, damn) after all they have put viewers thru watching a downhill going drama from mid half.

screenwriter, I would think. I have also read somewhere that the author of the novel wrote the screenplay herself/himself. If he/she thinks the screenplay would make her famous, she can think again, and think hard.
the end of rip.32 shows the emperor riding off with the FL in a desert after he went to ask her to go back with him with a 3 years separation passed in between, and she did, hence the couple riding off together. This ending is quite shitty actually, they waste time on flashbacks instead of moving forward showing what happened in the three years they were separated. There are bonus materials on mangotv app, don't know wh as t they contain.

Am rewatching It for the third time, the editing was fantastic,too, the entire drama flows with great consistency, nothing Is left to viewers' assumption, events flow nice and steady with great pacing and precision.. What a piece of art this drama is Indeed.
I have always liked the leads, but following dramas that takes up episodes after episodes to narrate the past is so not my forte. I endured dramas based on this trope but eventually paused or dropped them entirely. I have paused watching this drama but spotted a recent preview showing the drama back to the present, so glad to see it, am going to pick it up again.
I know, I know, it was years ago that this series was aired, but it is the one drama that I rewatch over and over again in all these years, especially season 1. It was so unique, so well written in diagnosis, quick and witty, yet deep and pungent, the entire cast came together to deliver an unbelievable piece of art.
