I enjoyed it for what it was - a simple drama about friendship. It definitely wasn't awesome in terms of storytelling, production etc, but lots of redeeming qualities.

I guess I have to see the ending to understand, but I always thought that was at least the end that he was heading to - as unfair as it seems.

Same! I usually make a point to find out if the ending is bad and avoid those with sad endings. But I started this one live.
I am, in a way, impressed that they were brutal and didn't flinch in killing half of our team. Life is like that, warriors do die.
Lots of people lamented about Yan. I mean, I knew he would have a bad end so told myself not to be too invested. Alas he had a very tragic end, but that's life isn't it. Life can be cruel. It was fitting tho, he redeemed himself by saving his brother and since it is xuanhuan I have some hope his spirit could survive in some way

Shocked to find out this drama only has 12 episodes! I kinda like these shorter runs. Easier to digest.

I read recaps to speed it along. Episodes 6-8 were the most tedious for me as I hate love triangles 😂
