But yes. "Only dramas that inspire passion will stand the test of time." Look at all of us here, at 78k comments and still climbing because this drama was that inspirational. For me, maybe after the rewatch, I'm going to make this like the late Sir Christopher Lee's LOTR tradition, where he reads the book at least once every year.
And yes, I've read until the end of that first reddit page, which tells me I'm a bonafide luna-tic🤣

Came to the rewatch late half-unintentionally, half-intentionally because it is this episode. Actually one I've rewatched a lot of times for both research purposes and because I'm simply a sucker for angst.
Coincidentally, when I opened my downloaded file, I've stopped it midway again, so.🥺

Without further ado, here we go....
....TTJ sees what happened to YQY and PR from yesterday's ep by crow. Foreboding comes knocking...
...TTML recalls Fuyu making preparations in case she dies during their attack, and him being so confident that she would still be by his side no matter what. If only this series were longer, we'd know why Fuyu was loyal to TTML, even to the point of loving him, but we only get bits like this before moving on to the main event. (It's these little bits of unexplored threads that keep me, at least, from totally moving on from this drama.)
...For Fuyu, TTML vows to kill the person TTJ cares for the most, which of course includes the people who he had worked hard to uplift.
...this is the Ye family's glorious moment. Finally, we see how noble General Ye is, and that despite his image as a carefree man, Ye Zeyu could also be relied on to do what is right and protect the people. His care for Chuntao, and his smile when he takes up his sword makes him truly worthy of being General Ye's eldest son.
....YXW finishes creating the divine essence, and spits blood in the process, as the WOJ takes its toll on her. Lightning punishment gathers around her.
...when TTJ finally enters the city the same way TTML came in, how come YQY and PR aren't there?
....Despite having been neglected at the Ye mansion, TTJ recognizes the heroism of General Ye and YZY. And of course he sees the devastation TTML caused to his city.
....and the tower scene. TTML holds YXW and YBC hostage, while TTJ looks on. TTJ feels confident that no matter what, YXW will be safe since the bracelets ensure her life. So he decides to save.................YBC??? Just to spite YXW? He could have just said, "Kill both of them, IDC." Then proceeds to save them both. That would have spared him and her the heartache.
(Remembering that comment about a viewer not liking the eyeliner.....like, why? It's perfect, not too much, not too little. Was it about having eyeliner on guys that was the issue? I wonder.)
....even YBC is surprised she was saved. Really, why? The inner dialogues really point at spite. No wonder LSS wouldn't even give him time of day in the immortal arc.
....the tower is strangely clean when TTJ flies up to YXW. Where are TTML's men? (Yeah, I'm nitpicking just to distract myself from what comes next.)
............ok, let me do this again......
...when TTJ realizes YXW has the WOJ (which he should have already noticed way back at the wedding, but maybe he did, but didn't have enough time to ask properly, what with being nailed and all) he fnally learns the truth that YXW exchanged it for his eye and took on the curse he was willing to take for her way back in ep.9. YXW telling him the curse is about to be fulfilled on her makes him go denial mode, because that meant she would die a violent death."Why did you take matters in your own hands?" hits hard, but the answer to that strangely does not connect. "Because you are the DG"? No wonder TTJ is confused. "What DG?" indeed.
....TTJ of course doesn't understand what YXW was talking about, because the DG explanation seemed out of the blue. They never even talked about the DG before (well, not in what was shown anyway, maybe during their unaired bed talks?), so YXW suddenly calling him DG, taking into the context that they hated each other before, would for TTJ be a translation that she hated him so much she sees him as a devil.
Until of course she drops the bomb on him that she wasn't YXW, and through the power of the WOJ, reveal that she was actually from another time, another place, and that he was the stuff of her nightmares. At this point, I feel happy for LSS for finally confronting and processing her long kept trauma this way. It hurts for TTJ, but it should be relieving for LSS.
...TTJ is of course understandably confused. His points are valid: it isn't him, he doesn't know those people in her visions, he didn't do those things. His searching look at YXW says he wants her to understand all those things he said. (Erm, so the "who are you" seems misplaced. This should have been said right after she revealed she wasn't YXW. --again, nitpicking)
....TTJ's relief at YXW saying all those won't happen to him anymore suddenly turns to anger that YXW could think of him as a devil, and a devil god at that. (Kinda misplaced again, but it does lead to the next thing.) YXW's answer really is a high sounding explanation, one that seemingly doesn't care about him and his feelings at all.
....the close up scenes change from them touching each other's foreheads, and then YXW's forehead touching TTJ's nose bridge. ---nitpicking
....TTJ slightly flinches when YXW's hand touches his chest.
....why is it that whenever someone sacrifices their life for another, the ending's always, "let's not see each other in the next life"? Like one existence is enough.....
.....they say even when you're already dead, you can still hear something for a few moments. LSS does remember hearing TTJ's "YXW, are you abandoning me too?" later in the immortal arc. (This doesn't make it easier to watch.......)
....and Tia Ray comes on... making the scene even more difficult to watch....
....so does the lightning punishment still happen even if YXW's already...gone because TTJ still has some of her essence left thru the bracelets? ......not making it easier to waaaatch
.....gravity doesn't work like that...
....yep. the scene needs to explain why they can get the scene by themselves by showung that NBY and his army finished off TTML's men.
.......in a close up, when TTJ gathers the broken bracelet, his hands are bloody, as if they were cut as he held the broken pieces. (Not helping with the pain).
....the long walk home. At this point, TTJ just seems zombified while carrying YXW.
.....not YXW saying "who says I'm going to be with you for life?"
.....the scene ends with their first meeting on the frozen lake.
....didn't NBY see Gen.Ye and YZY dead on the streets? What is he asking that for? Nevermind YBC.
....that scene with TTJ in YXW's burnt room shouldn't have been a dream. It fits being an actual thing he did upon waking up and him hearing DG fits his state of madness, that he now hears DG outside of his dreams. The next scenes now don't make sense with him exiting his room without his cloak, then then at the next he runs with his cloak on.
....TTJ's progression of emotions from denial to anger to bargaining and to acceptance is so hurtful to watch.
....See, his hands when he caresses YXW are bloody, as if he had just come from YXW's burnt house and gotten hurt there... tsk tsk editing.
.....so....who exactly called for the ministers to meet if TTJ is with YXW? Can't be NBY, he's too naive to be governing in place of TTJ. YQY?
.....YQY is such a soldier. He had lost the love of his life, his father, his brother, and his sister (nvm the other one) and still manages to stand up and walk. But was the pale makeup necessary?
....NBY reaching out to YQY because he's TTJ's only remaining family is touching......and not helping with the pain.
....should Xiaoyao be credited for YQY instinctively knowing how to use PR's power?
....I love YQY's eye rolls.
...the extra lines of dialogue feel so out of place with YQY and TTJ's actions during the fist fight. No mouths were moving there.
.....it's so unfair that yQY is the only one bloodied up during that fist fight. No, the divine essence can't be credited for that because YQY also has PR's essence which can heal. What gives?
....to have TTJ ask if YQY understands why he wants to be with YXW is moot and beside the point. Of course he understands, didn't you see PR die beside YQY??
And of course this episode ends in the middle of a conversation. Again.

It's a cultural thing. Like, if you're chinese (and please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I only google my way out of things😅) you can call someone you love as your white moonlight, or something.

Besides, isn't it romantic? Interpret it however way you want. Mine is, TTJ's love is like the moonlight, cold, not as overly bright as the sun, but there to chase away the darkness.❤❤

Again, my take: TTJ doesn't mean to execute XL, and imprisoned him to try to reason him out like what he did to YQY. Things to consider tho is that 1) XL is a prince loved by the Sheng, and 2) he has the pride of being a crown prince, nay, an emperor in his own right since his dad passed away. Of course, two suns can't shine on the same sky, but it will be difficult and dangerous to execute XL. Plus, personal feelings will tell TTJ to save him. Thus, reasoning out is the way.

What TTJ needed was time to talk with XL, buuuuuuutttt porridgegate happened. So.😑
