I feel no sympathy for the FL. She deserved everything that happened to her. I hate it when people make dumb decisions…
She made a mistake - YES. And she had to suffer the consequences because of it. But she didn't deserve it. The ML made the decision to cheat. The moment he cheated, it was purely his responsibility and fault. Even if Rerng didn't enter the house, he would have cheated eventually because he wasn't over her and married the FL as a nicer alternative to Rerng. I don't believe he really loved her. Also, I am speaking from experience, the presence of a 3rd party definitely increases temptation but someone who is loyal will stay loyal regardless.
And yes, I agree with you on the ending. Can't believe the FL took the ML back.
I would have given this a higher score if not for that ending, which made the entire journey worthless.
The ML spent more than 3/4 of the drama falling in love with Rerng, going through heartbreak over her, and then fighting with her after his marriage to FL, and then lusting over her and sleeping with her countlessly. When it came to divorce, he suddenly remembered that he loved his wife? And that he wanted to be with her when the entire drama was about his relationship with Rerng?! He said he wanted to take revenge on Rerng but he was clearly lusting over her the entire time and couldn't stop thinking about her or peeking at her legs and body.
He proposed to the FL at Rerng's father's funeral to provoke her. He made countless remarks that may have looked like he loved the FL, but were a subtle comparison to Rerng and almost like he settled for her because she was the complete opposite of Rerng and because he knew that she would not betray him and have her own mind like Rerng.
It's only when he realized that Rerng didn't really love him and was merely using him - he suddenly got a wake up call and was completely over her. He did exactly what Rerng did to him, he used the FL and betrayed her.
And the ending - I am supposed to believe he genuinely loved the FL, and them getting together was true love?!
What a joke. I don't mind and even enjoy toxic relationships when a show actually has the guts to admit that this is toxic and wrong but 2 people are choosing it nonetheless. Either that or have the characters truly redeem themselves. In this case, there was none of it.
Also I have to say this - I am not going to deny that Rerng is a bitch. BUT she was who she was. Unlike the ML who slept with her, and then the next moment spilled bullshit like he loved his wife and then told her to back off. Even after the affair is discovered, instead of taking time to reflect and realising how Pim was going through pretty much two-fold of what Rerng did to him, he went crazy like a bull getting jealous over Terd making Pim smile. Instead of taking ownership of the baby and the fact that Rerng was pregnant, he treated her like shit. Yes, she deserved it. But at the same time, he acted like it was purely her fault. It freaking takes 2 hands to clap, and he was no innocent man who didn't know what he was getting into.
Had I known the way this was going to end, I wouldn't have picked it up again after dropping it years ago. Sigh. I wasted my time :(
This movie is extremely extremely disturbing, but the most disturbing part is how the son actor, Seo Youngjoo,…
I am glad I am not the only one who thought of that.. Also, there was a huge controversy and lawsuit of him slapping one of the actresses and forcing her to do an unscripted sex scene in this movie. Can't remember the details, but people are so quick to condemn actors / actresses for crime, but continue to support such directors.
Thank you so much for this list!! I'm always looking for some dark and twisted romance in my dramas bcs too much…
Same, I adore darker romances HEHE Bump Off Lover is so good, and even though it's not a romance drama, the romantic relationship was so dark and twisted I loved it!
I find it amazing how I started watching SK dramas in the 90s and she was already playing grandma roles then.. and 30+ years later, she's still at it. Safe to say that she's the quintessential South Korean grandmother.

I don't even remember my comment HAHA

I am definitely watching this.
That aside, he's a really good actor.
