I like the female lead so much better. there is waaaay less self pity going on here and the pathetic has been toned way down. Her clothes are, imo much better. i also love that the way she looks hasnt been the center piece of the show. in the kdrama it felt like that was all anyone talked about to the point that the writers would insert a conversation about her looks in odd places so it felt almost like a product placement or they were trying to meet some quota.
the 2nd leads arent as funny as the k-drama and after 17 eps the male lead is barely in it at all and i havent seen him in anything else so i can't tell if that's just the direction he's getting or if he actually thinks he's the terminator.
I'm going to watch it for Sheng Peter. I hope it will be a good remake, although there are a little bit too many…
most Chinese dramas have at least 5+ minute opening and closing credits that are counted in the ep run time, sometimes even previews so it's not actually going to be 30 hrs.
i am very discouraged by the comments that this gets worse b/c i really don't like Aaron Yan's character and if this is what you consider "romantic" i feel sorry for you. i'm on ep 10 and have only seen maybe 10 collective minutes so far where WenKai isn't being an awful, petty emotionally stunted human being who is using abuser logic to justify his treatment of Yutong.
is anyone else getting the impression that the synopsis is wrong?
many versions of the Faust legend have redemption as a theme, Faust was supposed to serve the devil in hell at the end of their deal but b/c he continued to strive to do the right thing he was forgiven and allowed admittence into heaven
i can see them maybe saying the male lead will redeem himself like faust did but that's a pretty thin connection to be naming your drama after something. it would however be something dramas have done before lol.

yea, i dont know how much stock to put in that though. asian dramas are notorious for taking great liberties with their supposed name sake literary works.
if it is true that they are trying to base this off the Faust legends the synopsis itself would suggest that they are already going waaay off script. the play that is being referred to is probably Goethe's Faust, since that's the one where you generally see the love interest as an integral part of the story. in the faust legend there is no curse instead his immortality is achieved by a deal with the devil Mephistopheles who has a bet going with Satan. revenge is not a motive. other versions have Mephistopheles serving Faust for only a period of 24 years.
