i guess it's just not been the case with the shows i've watched.

EVERYONE in when love walked in is dubbed, even when it's with their own voice. that is what typically happens in C-dramas when they leads are native Chinese speakers they are generally dubbed over in their own voices. supporting actors may get dubbed over by a different voice actor and actors from Taiwan are usually dubbed by native speakers as are korean actors but it is unusual for native speakers in lead roles to get dubbed by a different voice actor.

Zhou Mi is a native speaker, he was born and raised in mainland china. he has been in several Chinese dramas where he was not dubbed and has been a host and guest on multiple chinese music/ entertainment shows. it is extremely rare for a Chinese drama to dub over a Chinese actor with a different voice.

this was the first highly popular gender bender story in North America. As the writer is from North America they arent in a position to say if Mulan was the 1st popular gender bender in other parts of the western world, and they obivoulsy know that these sorts of stories were popular in the eastern world long before Disney's Mulan. i took the "we all" to mean all of us north americans. maybe it was just a poorly articulated idea?

i think a long review is fine. the people clicking the "unhelpful button" are generally doing so because they disagree with you and can't imagine that the opinions of those who disagree with them could have merit.

personally i like a longer review, especially if it's negative, that way i can see what it was this particular person didn't like which better informs my choice in deciding whether or not to watch something.

for example had i not seen this before your point about all the talking that is just there as filler would be important to me, b/c i don't like that either. your point about the lead actress bombing the generbender this is also informative because that wouldn't bother me.

your longer review is, therefore, in my opinion much more helpful than
"OMG Lee Joon Ki oppa is so HAWT!!!!! 10's all around!!!"

it was OK, but i can definitely see how someone might hate it. to be honest i skipped long stretches near the end.
