anyone gets just as annoyed as I do when Yeong Ho says that Joo Eun's body belongs to him and he can do with her…
it would be creepy if he was actually serious about it, but i think he's trying to be seductive and/ or he's teasing her. sometimes i feel stuff like this gets a little lost in translation, esp since the korean sense of humor is so different from the western sense of humor.
Only If he knew her from a long ago from school days with out her knowledge I will find it logical for him to…
why? haven't you ever met someone and liked them almost immediately? several of my former boyfriends are guys i met and like romantically right away. When my husband asked me out for the 1st time i barely knew him, he was just some dude that worked in the same shopping center. With in 3 days i knew he was the man i would spend my life with, 11 yrs and 1 kid later i'm posting here lol.
I'm not gonna lie, I really don't like Henry's character, only because I feel his acting is not natural and is…
actually if you listen to it, especially when he gets a few words going, he's pronouncing it perfectly, with no accent and he's enunciating every letter, not even rounding off the sounds north american English speakers tend to drop. he's also speaking pretty slowly. i think he's talking like that specifically for the benefit of the korean audience who will have a better chance of understanding or picking out a few words if it's spoken that way. it also sounds unnatural because he's sticking to a script. the English lines he's given hold up from a strictly "correct/incorrect" point of view but the word choices are certainly not natural.

i kind of agree, but in all honesty if you take away the English he's pretty on par with the "cute side kick" archetype which fits really well with the Korean sense of humor. what throws me for a loop is that he's obviously speaking English for the benefit of people who probably don't speak it so well, so it's kind of stilted and the rhythm is off even though he grew up in Canada. To me this makes the performance, which is supposed to be exaggerated, feel too unnatural.
since i am currently watching it. This drama is...Over rated. This comes from someone who has watched the better…
i think the hype comes from So Ji Sub. i'm fairly certain SJS could star in the worst piece of crap and people would be raving about it. this si a pretty good show AND it's got SJS in it so the response is going to be "OMG THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER!!!!!!"
my favorite thing about this drama thus far is def. that Young Ho started to fall for Joon Eun before she had started to lose the weight. in ep 6 it's mentioned several times that she still has weight to loose (imma suspend my annoyance at the fact that she's 137 and treated like a friggin whale) and he's the one making the moves.
Why are there people posting a review while there is like 4 episodes online? If they want to write something about…
there was discussion a while back when Skye had the suggestion forum up, but to my knowledge of viable solution wasn't found. MDL isnt run by a team of professional coders, it's Skye and Jin. two regular people who also have jobs and lives. even the great staff here are just volunteers who give their time and effort so we can have this wonderful community. if that means people can review a show before it's done airing, so be it.

i'll play devil's advocate, often when you see early reviews, if you go to the users profile you'll see they're fairly new to the site or not very active. it seems it's usually just a matter of the reviewer not being very familiar with the site and all it's features.
i don't do the sad dramas. as soon as i get a whiff that somebody might not make it to the end i start digging around for spoilers. i watch dramas because it's fun and it makes me happy, if i wanted to be sad and unhappy i'd ruminate on the sad things in my life.
Anyone know of some Japanese dramas that could be called "slap and kiss"?
you'd probably be more likely to find this sort of thing in anime. the Japanese have a very strange disconnect when it comes to anime. lolicon is a good example. they see nothing wrong with sexualizing characters made specifically to look like children because it's not real, it's just anime and therefore perfectly legal.

You can find a lot of this on American Soap Operas, too. Luke and Laura (very popular couple) from General Hospital…
on american soaps you get a lot of push and pull, grabbing, slaps (usually the woman hitting the man) and forced kisses. it's quite different from the Thai genre where rape and physical abuse is pretty common and treated as little more than a physical manifestation of the man's frustrations and passions. on american TV you would never have a chick live happily ever after with her rapist. women who stay with abusive men are portrayed as having something mentally wrong with them.
there was an article in MDL a few months back about abuse in Korean dramas. my thoughts here are pretty much the same as my thoughts on that. in a nutshell, this sort of thing is perfectly fine as long as the society producing it does not tolerate this sort of thing in real life. unfortunately many Asian societies have a lot of gender inequality built into the culture.Combined with strict adherence to certain stereotypical gender roles you can end up in a place where young men and women see this sort of thing tolerated and accepted on TV and then tolerated and accepted (to varying degrees) in everyday life.
i think he's definitely one to watch. yes, he's hot, but I've watched him in a few dramas and just wasn't overly impressed with his acting, but he was pretty good in faith and REALLY good in Noble my love, if he keeps improving he will be just as good as any of the big names out there.
