Anyone know of some Japanese dramas that could be called "slap and kiss"?
you'd probably be more likely to find this sort of thing in anime. the Japanese have a very strange disconnect when it comes to anime. lolicon is a good example. they see nothing wrong with sexualizing characters made specifically to look like children because it's not real, it's just anime and therefore perfectly legal.

You can find a lot of this on American Soap Operas, too. Luke and Laura (very popular couple) from General Hospital…
on american soaps you get a lot of push and pull, grabbing, slaps (usually the woman hitting the man) and forced kisses. it's quite different from the Thai genre where rape and physical abuse is pretty common and treated as little more than a physical manifestation of the man's frustrations and passions. on american TV you would never have a chick live happily ever after with her rapist. women who stay with abusive men are portrayed as having something mentally wrong with them.

there was an article in MDL a few months back about abuse in Korean dramas. my thoughts here are pretty much the same as my thoughts on that. in a nutshell, this sort of thing is perfectly fine as long as the society producing it does not tolerate this sort of thing in real life. unfortunately many Asian societies have a lot of gender inequality built into the culture.Combined with strict adherence to certain stereotypical gender roles you can end up in a place where young men and women see this sort of thing tolerated and accepted on TV and then tolerated and accepted (to varying degrees) in everyday life.

you have fallen prey to drama logic.

i think he's definitely one to watch. yes, he's hot, but I've watched him in a few dramas and just wasn't overly impressed with his acting, but he was pretty good in faith and REALLY good in Noble my love, if he keeps improving he will be just as good as any of the big names out there.

Is it just me or is the Chick that plays win's mom the lady that played Lee min ho's Thai mom in city hunter?
i tried researching it on the web, no luck, but i swear it's the same lady.

I loved EP 16. Place/location was so awesome, music was very much apt for the situation, both the leads made it…
i'm not usually one for those sort of montage scenes but it was really well done here

the beginning is so boring does it get better?
from comments i've read the 1st nine episodes are kind of slow. someone called them "filler" but after that it's supposed to pick up. i' speed watched my way through the 1st six and it's already more interesting.

For me, I'm REALLY glad they made changes. In fact, when they announced they're doing this, I was already hoping…
i just caught up on this and i already love it more than any of the other versions. i haven't wanted to punch either of them yet. i wasnt feeling the blonde hair in the posters but shockingly he pulls it off. Also, Aom and Mike need to get married and bless us all with their beautiful talented children.

i have tried every incarnation of this story, the anime ,the Korean version, both Japanese versions, the one from…
i'm pretty hopeful for this version. when i watched the original full house i really liked it, then I rewatched and realized it's hours of 2 people with great chemistry cleaning yelling and cooking. not very romantic. the Thai version on the other hand focused much more on the leads developing feelings for each other. rain's character was a d-bag for most of full house, but mike's character in the thai version softened up a lot faster. i'd really like to see that here.

i generally dont mind a bit of push and pull or mean guy melts for the girl, but this story takes it so far beyond. What's almost more disturbing than the glorifying of his behavior is the way the people around her deal with the situation. no one ever tells her "hey, your obsession is unhealthy" and any "you deserve better" is peripheral at best.
