i would be interested to see hard numbers for the domestic vs international market. one well kept secret in kpop is that you're not going to make real money unless you go international b/c the SK market just isnt big enough to make the serious bank. i wonder if something similar will happen to dramas and i'm not sure if that would be a good or bad thing.
The unique SK perspective is one factor in what makes many dramas great, but there are certainly dramas that could benefit from the story telling styles of other countries. if one day the foreign market becomes large enough to drive production choices it's going to be interesting
cmon platonic do no wrong i mean its basically a friendship just deeper. being sexually attracted is where i would…
makes you shudder to think about it doesnt it?
until someone has teenagers in their care it's difficult to understand what a precarious time adolescence is. their brains (which are still cooking) are trying to get them to do the opposite of everything they should be doing . they are immature and easily influenced. friendships and romantic relationships are healthiest between equals. teenagers can not engage with adults as equals; leading to unhealthy dynamics.
I did not choose Twilight because it's the most realistic one nor because I like the books/movies. It's because…
i would argue that the modern vampire craze was fueled, if not started, by Anne Rice, who's novel Interview With The Vampire was published in 1976. the newest book in the series was published just last year.
What you said. That series, especially the last book in the series (name mercifully forgotten), was awful. The…
there are places in the US where with parental consent and a judge's approval a 12 yo can get married, so i'm not surprised by the lack of reaction. by the time that came around fans had already endorsed (and even cheered for) Bella's unhealthy co-dependent obsession with Edward and his skeevy paternalistic attitude. if none of that bothers you a 19 yo getting married is nothing.
The first time I watched a vampire movie was Twins Effect which is a Hong Kong movie. I thought it was pretty…
in the next year or two a TV adaptation of Anne Rice's Vampire chronicles is supposed to hit Hulu. we can all cross our fingers and hope it's as good at the film adaption of her book Interview with the vampire that came out in the 90's.

The Author of twilight is a life long Mormon. as a group they tend to culturally segregate themselves from people who do not share their values. she was raised in a part of the US with a higher than avg concentration of Mormons and attended college at Brigham Young University (a Mormon school).
this is important b/c marriage at such a young age is not unusual for girls in the church. surveys find that Mormons statistically marry 4 years younger than their non-Mormon peers. they are shamed in horrific, mentally abusive ways for so much as having "impure thoughts" and are taught that the only acceptable way to scratch that natural and (at that age) intense urge is to enter into a heterosexual marriage. To marry Bella off so young and have her pretty much immediately get pregnant would seem perfectly normal and natural to Myer.
see i think twilight is very badly written (books and movies) has terrible effects and some of the worst acting i've ever seen. the movies were successful (the book mildly so before the films came out) but as we know commercial success doesn't always equal quality.
translations are rarely exact, but yes, k-dramas they do use words that equate to wench and rascal. swearing seems…
i agree with most of what you say here. but i think that words like "wench" and "rascal" have a place in modern translations for modern shows. the modern English equivalents of the korean words these are used in place of would often be considered coarse language. which is not the intent in korean.
Yeah, kinda guessed it but whatever....I am SINNER THEEEEEN :DDDDBut so are ppl who love me ahhh my little monsters…
honestly i think fan subs have and will continue in some way to drive the market. when you see a lot of fan subs in a language the show isnt licensed in then that lets entertainment companies know where new audiences are.
Oh, another one; this is great! I can't thank you enough for writing all this. Not everybody is familiar with…
when netflix 1st starting putting k-dramas on they would steal subs from fan subbers lol. i think it was BOF that had subs done by WITH S2, and it straight up said it lol.
