that's what i also think—they're two sides of the same coin. the fact that they each stirred emotions in me, in all of us, shows how well-written they were.

du cui que embodies everything i hate about incredibly smart / capable women—conceited, manipulative, deluded, cruel, arrogant. just pure evil. i like how she compares to the other two "crazy exes" in JQ's life. i pitied and at times even respected them, but i hated dcq to the bone. the actress should stop playing villains, she's too damn good at it! i could not stand her.

i love xiuwan and her growth despite having such a consistently narrow-minded mother.

their relationship isn't romantic at all tbh. the fl's lack of any sense of romance has even become an issue among some people. personally i don't mind and find her character refreshing. it's such a beautiful drama overall though.

literally the only female villain in the show that annoyed me from start to end and had no redeeming quality about her.

i think JQ not being one of the things she lives for is very in line with her character. i also wouldn't be surprised if she never says she loves him out loud. i've come to accept that the "romance" in this drama isn't really very romantic because of her character and story.

not the lin family members endorsing their loved one/s to Lan Xiang. the girl who didn't even want to get married is now everyone's wife and mother. lol.

around episode 5 i think? the second case was more interesting for me and the pacing got a little better. i can't say i will stick around til the end yet though.

i personally didn't like the first few episodes so much, but it got better.

sooooo many good moments today, but if i had to pick faves: nanke panicking then proposing + jin qi fainting. lol.

and then Lan Xiang, who wasn't even there but somehow found out what he said, seeks affirmation from JQ sheepishly :))

thanks for asking these questions because I thought I understood what happened when clearly I did not. lol. i thought 1 was a flashback :)) and I didn't realise he resigned—I thought he just went on leave when it was peaceful again.

I also thought they were just showing the passage of time with the seasons, and then, BAM! he's back in Jinling :)) I swear the whole episode was 70% transitions, 30% content. lol.
