i don't think so. like an earlier comment said, she is meddling because she wants to break up the alliance (via the marriage). she doesn't actually want to be with wei shao. i have a feeling she'll try to cosy up to qiao man's ex-fiancé tho if her husband dies.

i keep rewatching the intro and outro for possible conflicts between our couple. i'm relieved most of them are over with / resolved. i'm just so anxious they'll separate because of some misunderstanding now that things are going well.

alsoooo she's not wei shao's ex but his brother's. tho qiao man hasn't realised it yet. xiaotao only got confirmation that su e huang was ever engaged to the weis, but she wasn't told *which* wei she was engaged to.

i'm happy our couple are bickering more but annoyed they introduced the two extras now.

we finally got some breathing room after the cousin was chased out of the household, and then she arrives. ugh.

i liked reading your take on this, and i agree :) i think the fl's actions are reasonable. he doesn't trust her, and she doesn't trust him. she also knows that his ultimate goal is to annihilate her entire family. her moves so far are defensive. i never thought that her intentions were to initiate war, but she definitely won't just sit and watch her husband massacre her clan. she just wants to give them an out.

her clan are selfish (even worthless) bystanders at worst but not instigators. they will probably always try to scheme to get out of something unscathed. lol.

why did he ask manman to arrange for the concubine? mind games? i get that he can’t refuse his mother directly, but i don’t think he wanted to take a concubine either (even if he doesn’t have feelings for his wife yet).

the rating was much higher two weeks ago. :( it's sad if the sudden drop is only because of the ending.

finally, a "palace drama" that i can easily binge-watch. i just love that it has some snarky, conniving female characters, but they don't pit them against each other.

when i reached the part where they were making a wish at the pagoda (the very last scene in the outro) only halfway through the episode, i became very sad. lol. also—i swear, every time i watch song zu er cry in a drama, i end up crying as well.

this was such a beautiful story. i don't know if i'm going to be able to fall sleep tonight. if i do though, i will be dreaming of a different ending.

i'm so curious about xuanye's dad's friend. chi xue felt like the elder hated demons even though he claimed to have married one. he's also waiting for the gate to the carefree land to open.

i was just about to ask if anyone could explain the feather landing on the for hire sign and which "cause" it severed. i didn't quite catch which shop was hiring or notice it was xuanye's dad who put up the sign. then your comment is the first thing that pops up. lol.

"master's wife" is my favourite line :)) their cuteness gave me anxiety tho because i knew the writers would serve the bitter truth after we've had our tiniest fill of sweetness. lol.

banxia is such a well-written female character, and song zu er really brought her to life. everyone—from the leads to the sidekicks, the characters in the arcs, and even li xian—is so memorable.
