But the 2 moms had a very good conversation while on their vacation trip together. After listening to Qi Xiao's mom gush about her dead husband, you can see why Qi Xiao is like what he is. And we get to learn more about Ruo Xin's mom in the process.
1st 13 chapters pretty much deal with FL kidnapping and her eventual return to China. She originally went to Cambodia as a volunteer. Possibly drama might have changed location (?).
Also, in novel ML never taught her how to use a gun while she was a hostage there. And the flower he gifts her was the national flower of Cambodia, the rumduol. Not the one we see in the drama.
The concept of the Yi Tribe is confusing to me... why is it that some can have children and some (like that Chi…
Actually, with regards to Shen Yi Deng: her tale that she would die young when giving birth is a ruse in order to gain the others' sympathy (as she tells them Si Teng cursed her). She likely could have given birth if she wanted to (there was a point she was talking to herself asking herself why she had even thought of giving her husband a child). But the main reason why most of the Yi kind don't attempt birth if their significant other is human is because at the time the child is born, they become very weak/vulnerable (their powers dissipates). Thus the reason Qiu Shan wanted Si Teng pregnant.
As for the Bamboo one, in the novel, she had at least one child, but died due to illness. The one we see handicapped by the Bamboo's own hand is an adopted child (Bamboo has a diary of how she took care of this girl--the one the child Si Teng reads). She "thinks" like a bamboo--that the bad parts must be cut away as a form of discipline.
For those who have just started or catching up, you can just stop @ ep.27 because I think the real story have…
Ep 28 [when Bai Jin talks to the children] to ep 30 (up to 24min mark) then the alternative ending episode follows the extra story that the novel's author actually wrote. If you really want to go to the end of the novel before the extra story, then you will need to stop just right before the 13min or 14min mark of ep 28.
There are 2 endings. Alternate is a happy one. There are no love triangles and no secondary couples, at least…
Drama-wise, he is part Yi too, descendant of the Celestial Tree. Bai Ying's powers is what "healed" him, otherwise, when he gives it to Si Teng in the first ending, he went into that "comatose" state like he had when Bai Ying made him fall from that high place.
Novel-wise, he is a descendant of Bai Ying and then he got a portion of her power that Si Teng gave her that was originally part of Shen Yi Ding.
And yes, in the novel, Si Teng pretty much split from Xi Xi wanting to give Xi Xi a normal childhood life. I can't recall whether like in the drama if she didn't take any of the adopted mother's powers. She definitely didn't suck her dry like with Shen Yi Ding, but the adopted mother did age quickly like we saw.
The biggest difference from drama and novel is DZG/QS and Bai Jin. Re: Bai Jin In the novel when Si Teng talks to Bai Jin over the phone for the first time, she makes mention of his ancestor in the white robes with the fan. In the drama, you can tell Bai Jin was hiding something when she makes mention of his ancestor, pretending he didn't know about the fan when it was clearly in front of him (and he constantly in black clothes, which is the opposite of what his ancestor wore). Novel: the birds on the fan supposedly represents each Yi creature that Bai Jin's ancestor managed to defeat.
Also, in the drama, a big black bird is shown flying over the cave of Shen Yi Ding as it breaks/collapses followed by the scene of Bai Jin walking in the forest with the black bird flying/following behind him.
Can't recall if when Bai Ying takes over WQK's sifu's body whether he ended up dying or not (drama he didn't).
Novel-wise, the story ends after Si Teng disappears telling QF she doesn't know how long before she can be human again. Then it starts the extra story (pretty much what Bai Jin tells the little kids). Have yet to watch the final 3 final epis, Vietsubs only up to ep 30 and I was trying to downlaod the SP.
Can someone tell me if the story/plot of the drama is cringy or cliche? I really like Nana's acting so I want…
The examples you gave doesn't happen in this drama.
Maybe I haven't watched K-dramas in a long time, but I actually like this one. Some say it's slow, but I don't think it is. Some say it's like the very early K-dramas--which is what I like because I was a fan of K-dramas till I pretty much stopped watching in the mid 2010's and switched back to C-dramas and J-dramas.
The tropes many mention...I feel this drama does slight twists on them.

But to each their own.
