Historicals are my kind of genre and I like to marathon them when I'm in the mood. I guess it doesn't matter whether they're long. It's the fact that I generally enjoy them as a genre.

Truth of the matter though, I made the mistake of watching a currently airing drama alongside my historicals and became engrossed in that airing drama that when it it disappointed me to a slump. Haven't watched an Asian drama of whatever kind for months and since I recently discovered English period dramas/adaptations, I think I'll need some time or a way to recover and gradually integrate Asian dramas again.

Oh that just reminds me. I've been meaning to watch Legal High and I just haven't found the right time. T__T I haven't watched a single currently airing jdrama in my whole life. Don't you get impatient when the subs aren't out yet?

I'd hate to see her grades on History go down. It'll be a disappointment to her Pa. :(

Yes, Daniel, he's the one I'm talking about. What a jerk. He did it anyway. Why does Laura fall for that kind of men? Jeez, it's all the more frustrating because he's good looking.

Hahaha! I wish we had the option to deselect. I would have avoided Chemistry for good. lol advanced Math--I don't think I wanna know! XD Thanks and yeah, fighting!

Ah, I keep on hearing good things about BBC's modern Sherlock. Must try to take a peek one of these days...

I'll be waiting for Border and Bitter Blood dramas to be fully subbed before diving in. Bitter Blood is about an estranged pair--father and son--who happen to be undercover agents. Sounds like comedy with action. :)

I love the main cast. Robert and Emma Timmins have a love in a relationship that would make even young couples envious. I like Twister and Queenie as well, and the awkward and naive newlyweds Thomas and Margaret--mygawd these two are priceless. XD

I liked Algebra and a bit of Geometry in HS but I didn't like coordinate geometry as much. (Ohlawdie, those slopes on x and y axes!) :P What I really hated back then were Chemistry and Physics. o__O

I enjoyed reviewing her a bit on WWII although I don't know if she retained anything. :P World history is one of her weakest subjects--kind of ironic if you ask me because my hubby and I both love history.

I am indeed in the mood for a marathon. Lark Rise's pace is comfortable and I enjoy it. I've started Season 3 and I might finish Season 4 before the weekend ends. :) And it's another love interest for Laura--they get handsomer by the season but more disagreeable than the last one. I feel bad for James Dowland; I think he was a misunderstood character but then again the romance between him and Dorcas never progressed much after the widow incident.

Part two coming up!

Everything. English, Geometry, Chemistry, Social Studies, etc. I only helped her with English, Social Studies particularly on WWII and Math. I never really liked Chemistry when I was in HS so I left her to review it on her own. :P

Which Sherlock is it? BBC TV or the movie series with Robert Downey Jr? I heard they made the TV series a modern adaptation. I'm looking forward to Oguri Shun's Border and another detective drama Bitter Blood, I think that's what it's called. :)

So sorry for the late reply! School is ending soon and I had to help my daughter review for her finals! O___O

High five on Wuthering Heights. I saw there was a version with Ralph Fiennes as Heathcliff but I immediately crossed it out of my watch list. I can't bear to watch another version--it's too heavy for me.

Whitechapel, I think, is a detective story where the criminal cases were like the cases of Grim the Reaper. I haven't the slightest idea whether it's too gruesome but I think since it's tv, they might have regulated that.

So sorry for the late reply! Oh goodness, these past days had been hellish and the week isn't even over yet! Tomorrow's the last day of my eldest's finals and fortunately my little one didn't have classes for three straight days. On the other hand, the placement test was put on hold and there isn't any certainty if the body which supervises the tests still has the time to reschedule it (with the school year ending and with so many schools to still attend to).

Gawd, last night I had to make a reviewer for my daughter--and it was geometry! O___O I tried my very best to keep my nose from bleeding! XD Thanks for the good luck! :)

Good for you, you've finished Whitechapel. I know another MDL friend who likes Rupert Penry-Jones and was wondering what the series was all about. ;)

I've started Lark Rise to Candleford season 2 and might finish it tomorrow. Marathoned 7 episodes in one day! :)

Part two! :D

Upon a recommendation of an MDL friend and because I was so happy with BBC's adaptation of P&P, I immediately watched North & South. Even though I haven't read the book yet I was confident that the drama will be as accurate. Well I didn't expect to fall in love with the adaptation! And the plot was more complex than Jane Austen's regency era romance plots since it involved many other things aside from romance.

I'll tell you right off: I don't like Wuthering Heights because it makes me feel wretched and want to drink until I throw up. I've seen the Jane Eyre version with Toby Stephens and liked it. Even though it was dark, it was shades lighter than Emily's WH. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is still on my ptw. ;)

Coincidentally, the MDL friend who introduced me to BBC adaptations also likes Rupert Penry-Jones and I think she's watching Whitechapel! :)

I haven't seen many wuxia dramas. Most of the wuxia I know are movies from when I was a child but it was such a long time ago, I barely remember their titles. Only that they were enjoyable and that the martial arts were awesome. :)

If you strictly go by the book (like I do), I'd go with the Colin Firth/Jane Ehle P&P. All the subtlety between them and Mr. Darcy's awkwardness are captured. ^_^

The Keira Knightly/Matthew Macfayden movie version had a number of inaccuracies and although they didn't affect the essence of the story, I found it a bit distracting. And I found myself thinking, 'oh no, that's not how it happened in the book' more than four times. But that's not to say I didn't like the movie--in fact I thought Keira and Matthew had great chemistry especially at the proposal scene!

I think I need a part two message to fit my answer to your #2 question! XD I ran out of space!

You got me! Or more like Oguri Shun got me. :D

I have to say the upcoming Japanese dramas appeal to me more than the Korean ones. Or maybe it's just my drama slump. :P

Oh, *yawns* with you! Yowakutemo sounds a lot like Rookies.

Other than that, I'll be waiting for Border (what is up with ghost detective dramas?) and Bitter Blood (wow Takeru-kun in a perm, hah!)to be fully subbed. :)

I can relate to writers who take pains in creating marvelous stories. One decade of patience to piece together a masterpiece is surely worth it, but to conceive another great story with layers of meaning--takes time and genius.

Twelve Years really seems so serious. The title says a lot for itself!

Enjoyed it a lot! I am going to start on Season 2. I am on Team Alfie though I'm not sure if he and Laura will get together with her being so into her career. Julia Sawalha did a fine job portraying Dorcas Lane. Dorcas is poles apart from Lydia Bennet but Julia did a terrific job at both!

Oh gawd! I am in for a hectic, hectic month of March. Next week my eldest will be having her finals so I'm grilling her to study English and Social Studies. My youngest was selected among the top 50 kindergartners in her school in the national educational placement test so I'm helping her as well. O____O

I guess mine would be fantasy, comedy and romance. I also like historical or period pieces, wuxia and martial arts. :)

Oh my! It seems that I gain more MDL friends from Europe because of North & South! :) I love N&S (obviously! XD) and P&P. Those two are actually my top two BBC adaptations. I've seen several classic novel adaptations but they can't seem to compare to Colin Firth orz and Richard Armitage <3.

Thanks again for the request! Who knew Richard Armitage could be such a magnet! :D

Acting and writing are both challenging. Although writing can be a comfortable profession for those who have boundless imagination. I envy people like that who don't seem to run out of ideas.

Oh yeah, Gravity had me curious as did Twelve Years a Slave. Not really a fan of Leo DiCaprio but I agree with that. They always make selecting the winner a tough decision.

I've finished Lark Rise season 1 though I haven't started season 2. I'm looking forward to every character progress even though I couldn't start it right away. It's just these past few days have been kind of crazy at school. School ends this month and these evaluation tests and year-end parties are keeping me out. :P

Uee is definitely the best pair off with Joo Won so far. Their chemistry off-screen is warm and friendly too! Though I heard Joo Won is comfortable with being all skinship-ey with Choi Kang Hee than the rest of them. I don't like her father either. He subjected her to a whole lot of unnecessary humiliation and hardship that she had to bear it all bravely thinking she had no family to turn to.

I'm not too fond of Baker King but he did an awesome performance there. Honestly, I liked him better than Yoon Shi Yoon in terms of emotion and depth of character.

Oh! Hearing that makes me want to take a peek at the films that were awarded. I see Gravity won a lot of awards. I wanted to watch the awards night but I'd have to wait for local tv to air it or some kind soul on yt to upload it.

Would you like to pursue your acting career in theater? Just thinking about winning the EGOT gives me the goosebumps. It's so prestigious.

Maybe because Intros recaps get longer by the episode so we can skip them.
