Person Hu Ge
I need to stalk you before your role as Guo Jing brainwashes me to avoid all of your dramas--and movies!

@dapinaymrs: He lived dor a while in USA so may have American citizenship and that's why he hasn't gone to military…
Hmmm...he did spend time growing up in the US but I don't think that's the reason why. All able-bodied and mentally stable men born in SK receive notice for their mandatory military service.

I remember he received his last year while RP was airing however he postponed it. Yoochun has asthma and was graded 7 (re-check up after two years) before finally making it to Grade 4 (reservist/civil service). Last year he said he'd concentrate on acting, so I guess he's still doing that until now while Junsu and JJ have publicly announced their plan to enlist end 2013/early 2014.

I don't think the song-and dance made it back to China. But they say the Japanese noh drama of LLW is very popular.

I'd love the idea of adding personality traits and star ratings! It would make the article a fun read. Tell me more about it and how it would look like!

My time zone is 12 hours earlier than yours; 13 hours if you're on DST. I can work from 4pm until 10pm (GMT+8)but I'm usually free nowadays.

Laughing like crazy at that commercial clip! XD

I heart you for making this Stalker's Guide. Like you I think PKW can take on any role!

I first saw him in the movie My Tutor Friend 2 but his portrayal of Kimura Shunji is his best ever yet. I didn't know he sang and released a mini-album! His singing voice is surprisingly good! Q__Q

this is part 2 again because the text was too long! XD

Written history about Gao Changgong is very limited though his fame is carried through the song and dance Prince of Lan Ling in Battle which became popular even through the Sui dynasty and even in Japan today. I haven't read how the song & dance came to Japan but it is the topic of a noh drama that were passed on through generations. Ironically. China lost this song and dance I think in the Tang dynasty (after Sui).

There was no mention of the name of Changgong's concubine. I wish I could understand Chinese so I can read from baidu! I even tried searching for his supposed grandson but nothing came up. :P

All right! Let's do it! :D
I did a collab with fuyushita_risou on Bridal Mask before and we used piratepad to chat and work on our article. we could use that if you like and I can pm you the link. Is it okay for us to use the format the Guide to BBJX?

I know, right! I was thinking about Lu Zhen when I read that part. :P But I have this feeling they won't touch on it.

No, I didn't. One person posted that Gao Changgong was born into the wrong family and that the Gaos were one of, if not THE, worst royal clans in Chinese history. LLW accepted bribes just so the emperor wouldn't be suspicious of him and he often stayed at home pretending to be sick so he can stay out of royal court and out of His Majesty's sight.

Well the Fourth Lord did have a bit of a bromance with YWY in the earlier episodes. LOL XD

Though honestly the idea may not be as far-fetched. From the posts that I've read so far, the Gaos were notoriously good-looking (with Gao Changgong as the fairest of them all! XD) but they also had loose morals. I remember reading on wiki how Gao Wei's dad valued He Shikai (an important Qi official) and played 'immoral games' with him that he gained so much power from being close to the emperor. Later this person even had an affair with Empress Hu, Gao Wei's mom! O___O The minute I read that I immediately thought 'A Frozen Flower'! :P

Writing the article is very tempting! I think we can base it on the Guide to BBJX article and make it more like a character intro with a little teaser on their historical background.

Aiya, so that's why! They should have made the extension with the Zhou invasion onward. Gao Wei was supposed to be caught fleeing south to Chen dynasty and Xiaolian was given as a concubine to YWY's younger brother and then later she became a housemaid before finally committing suicide. I would have loved watching how she met her end instead of Xue Wu meeting hers!

This is part 2 lol

I feel disappointed that YWY died so unceremoniously. :( I mean the emperor united North China for crying out loud! And he even paved the way for the Sui dynasty which was said to be a prosperous era.

Did you remember Yang Jian, the man who came to White Mountain Village in the first ep? He was in-laws with YWY and when his son-in-law inherited the throne, he planned to seize it--which he successfully did and established the Sui.

I read more about Gao Changgong and found out the emperor gave him 50 concubines, of which he only accepted one not because he wanted to keep one, but because he didn't want to insult the emperor. :P Methinks he's gay! LOL

Would you believe I thought of giving it a 7? But then I thought there are just a few dramas that make me read more about its background. I even feel like writing a few historical bits about the characters on the discussion thread. And this is my first time watching a drama together too and it was a insightful experience.

I thought what happened to Xue Wu was unnecessary and charging inside the enemy's lair alone was a gross overestimation of her strength. Indeed there was no reason for them to end that way.

I feel very much the same. Reading what really happened then made the scenes in the drama so pale in comparison that I was actually relieved it wasn't worse!

I'd love to start Painted Skin. I realize 'Mural' is the sequel before this third installation. I think I'll start with the 2008 movie first and save The Resurrection for last. :D

The interview was a bit long and had youtube English captions...I'll post the link for you as soon as I find it :)

I'm glad you liked it. :) I would've wished for a happier ending but at least they were all alive and made it out. Deus was a scary artificial intelligence and tried to trap everybody inside but she couldn't keep them in the end. Yeah, she played God like her nickname.

Gawd, I can't wait to see it!

I think he wasn't dubbed in LLW...because I remember watching him in an interview (where he was asked about his relationship with Yang Mi and his reactions were adorable lol) and he sounded like he did in the drama. Dubbing doesn't really bother me that much.

I'm struggling with the rating for LLW as well. It started out strong and enjoyable however somewhere in the middle it got really nasty that I thought I wouldn't be able to bear watching another episode. But then when I started reading the era's history, it helped me learn a lot.

I was even shocked to find out Gao Wei allowed ministers/politicians to pay a sum to see Xiao Lian naked! And this was according to Chinese historians! O__O Anybody would scoff at how an emperor puts too much regard to his concubine's words that he'd let his city fall but damn, it really did happen! And she did make him wait so she can personally see the recapture of Ping Yang.

That good! I am encouraged to watch it! :D Do I need to watch the first Painted Skin movie before The Resurrection?

I really wanted to finish LLW tonight but I'm having a withdrawal. The last few episodes are more or less historically accurate and I think I'm glad I read bits about the period because it helped me a lot to place the tone and climate of their situation in proper perspective and be less irritated about it.

Gao Wei is pitiful but when I remember how he's so incompetent, I feel the people of Northern Qi were even more pitiful. O_O Xiao Lian is despicable to the very end. I wonder if Gao Wei will ever have the balls to stand up to her.

I don't know what to expect at the finale! I want to put it off 'til tomorrow and end it with LOCH 2008.

I see you added Mulan to your PTW! I highly recommend it! How was Painted Skin: The Resurrection?

All right! Let's watch Lu Zhen right after LLW. I think I can finish LLW today after I'm done with my chores. Strong female lead with lots of men? Hmmmm~~sounds delicious! Muhahahaha! XD

I started Love, Now out of curiosity. And I think it's less than 45 mins per episode though hearing it's 36+ without the fillers would seem better than 72 eps ...where can I find that version?
