There's a lot of personal preferences and prejudices in that comment video. It seems that some of the audience are not there to watch the drama but just to watch their favorite actors and actresses performing the way they like, not the way their roles require. Granted, some acting left to be desired but very far from the way described in that video.
Some scripts could have been better, but how much is changed based on censorship and other external pressures? Let's not forget that many of those Youtuber "reviewers" only want to post controversial stuff for the clickbaits.
I'm so sad to read so many negative reviews for this drama which I was looking forward to watch. I have to admit…
Do not pay much attention to the ratings. For example, did you watch Eternal Love (8.8), Love Between Fairy and Devil (8.8), The Legend of Shen Li (8.7), Back from the Brink (8.5), and Eternal Love of Dream (8.6)? Do those ratings make sense to you? Fox Spirit Matchmaker should be at least 8.5 if you think those other ratings match what you would rate. Watch some episodes and judge by yourself.
It should be a lot higher. This drama getting a 7.5 is what should make anyone interested in a series or movie…
I disagree. It's a very good drama and your points are just based on your personal preferences, the same way as mine. However, we have to compare against other dramas if we will make justice. For example, there's absolutely no way Love Between Fairy and Devil, despite also a very good drama, can be 8.8, ranked the same as Eternal Love and above The Legend of Shen Li. Blue Whisper 8.4 and FSM only 7.4, give me a break. The acting in that one wasn't even up to par. I stopped paying attention to those rankings a while back.
This dram's concept is good. However, the production left a bit to be desired. The story, characters and some of the acting could use a good bit of improvement. Neverthless, a light drama, easy to watch and they apparently planmed for a 2nd season but not sure it will come.
It should be a lot higher. This drama getting a 7.5 is what should make anyone interested in a series or movie to not simply believe on ratings. Check the director, actors, production company, etc. I already saw several excellent dramas getting bad ratings and lame ones getting way too high ratings, which shows we should not believe them. This fantasy drama is not as excellent as Eternal Love or The Legend of Shen Li. However, it's not far.
Just finished it. Great drama, even though it's not as good as Eternal Love or The Legend of Shen Li. but is good enough to deserve a much higher rating. The production, direction, acting and CGI are very good and the OST adds a lot to it. It's a nice entertaining fantasy story and, as any fantasy drama, the writer's imagination is the limit. Sometimes it is a bit overboard on the "clichés", but that's what happens in most romances.
Entertaining light drama. The story was interesting as well as the acting good enough to keep me watching all episodes until the end. There are some very humorous scenes that made me laugh.
Their YouTube channel is still stuck on ep26. iQiyi charges the same in the app and on YouTube but usually does a very lousy job there. It's borderline lack of business ethics.
Nothing on iQiyi's YouTube channel today. Big bummer. iQiyi's YouTube channel has been leaving to be desired. Some series skip episodes or even lack subtitles.
Trying to compare it with Nirvana on fire is interesting, I've been rewatching NIF (for the nth time) just for…
You make very good points. However, I felt that for NIF. Difficult to explain. In JOL, FX had the emperor and other powerful people backing him. In NIF, MCS had no one, hence his strategy had to be much more subtle and intelligent. An analogy would be FX using a sledgehammer while MCS had to use a chisel. I guess that's a very personal choice, hence my 10 for NIF and 9.5 for JOL. I also felt that NIF S2 wasn't as good as S1, hence it also got a lower rating.
What sharkamy said also a lot of activity is done close to floor level low tables etc. so I think it would be…
Good point! I noticed the furniture in the older times was a lot lower than the modern, which would make this a critical requirement.
I also observed that, mostly in older series, it must be very cold in the set, since the actors' breathing condensation shows big time. They seem to have corrected it in newer series because I seldom note it. However, when watching an older series, it's always there.
I don't know if it has any correlation with history or anything. But in my grandma old house or other relatives…
Thanks @SharkamyIt makes sense. The production team, director and actors would not want a dusty set. The only problem I see is if it's hot and the water evaporating would increase the humidity, thus decreasing the comfort level a bit. But I guess it's better than dusty.
Cool short series, lighthearted and easy to watch. The short time makes it go straight to the point and have no fillers. Story and acting are good enough to keep us entertained and watch it to the end. Despite not 100% original, the story is nice and could be more developed for a normal lenght drama.
Granted, some acting left to be desired but very far from the way described in that video.
