I agree with everything. And even worse, the story of the sml was basically a repeat of the story of the 3rd ml. It is also absurd that peoplpe just decide to forgive these guys that have been killing and kidnaping people for decades. They kidnaped babies to be sacrificed! The sml didn't care if the cult leader raped the other girl.

most boring pseudo wuxia I have ever seen. they should have made a movie instead of a drama. this just doesn't have a story

first, this drama has the best cgi I have seen on a tencent drama. The battle against the water monster could be something from the witcher. And that is amazing.

However, while there are several scenes when the drama does feel like a game adaptation (and it should please the game fans) it lacks some depth/maturity to be a mega hit like tteotm.

Bottom line, for fans of the game it should be an amazing drama. For everybody else kudos on the cgi but it lacks something to be wow

I think you are focusing on things that don't really matter. wether it is the fl or ml that is naive doesn't really change the flow of the drama. As long as one of the leads behaves as one of the leads used to in older dramas then the drama feels old.

Look at love you seven times. The fl is naive but the drama doesn't depend on her naivety causing misunderstandings in order to have a story. the sml likes her but the drama doesn't try to torture the ml and the audience with a possible relationship between them. Despite having several reincarnations the problems in the leads relationship aren't repetitive. And we could go on.

For example, I think that in all xianxias I saw this year the leads talked about their problems and if there were misunderstandings they were solved within 2 or 3 eps and the characters moved.

I think this drama would be a huge sucess if it was released 4 or 5 years ago.
Nowadays the tropes used in this drama are outdated. the people doing xianxia dramas listened to people complaints and the genre evolved into something better.

This is basically a great 2019 or so drama. For 2023 it is just aceptable.

2019 and 2021 were amazing years for him. For me those 2 years are the maximum any c drama star can achieve.
Then in 2022 even though lost in the kunlun mountains failed his other 2 shows had good numbers but his popularity didn't really grow.
The same as in 2023. wol should be one of the dramas of the year but its advertisements fell short.

In 2024 he has the advantage of being in dramas with very popular actresses. And now he is tencent's ambassor.

If his popularity doesn't explode next year something weird must be going on.

cp6 is an almost garanteed sucess.
best choice ever also has a really well known actress and it probably will air in a year where both leads have a big hit.

The descriptions so far make me think about the monks in the white snake adaptations (and their fighting style is vey wuxia)

I think you are wrong about the dad or son recognizing the tatoo. I think the transference is because of a deal he made with someone to protect the fl and because of the wording of the contract when she was in danger of dying the tatoo was transfered. As he saved her from death or 10 years passed on that night the tatoo returned to him because he finished his part of the contract

At least to me a wuxia needs to have martial arts techniques, sects/clans and things like that.

I don't think that just because people know how to fight with swords it makes the drama a wuxia.

Like when LTG imprisoned the ml and tried to marry the fl. There wasn't time for any drama or epic jail break. It was just rush rush rush

don't worry, this wasn't a wuxia drama. At most it had hints of wuxia because of the internal energy, but I think that is too little to call this wuxia

You have never seen a chinese drama where there is a series of events that make the drama have a sad ending and then right before the credits some unexplained and unbelivable event happens that can be seen as a happy ending?

But they tried to give a believable explanation. It avoided the heart and there were people ready to heal her. And the person that stabed her also didn't want to really kill her so he could have done it in a way to do as little damage as possible.

Here we are talking about several spears stabing a person in a perfect circle. It is a miracle that the ml isn't cut in half. And we see the fl ready to accept death less than a second before a huge explosion near her.

If the drama wants anybody to believe they are alive then they need to provide some explanation. Otherwise it feels like they just want to give the audience an excuse for a possible happy ending so that they don't boycot the drama.

Given the tone of most of the drama I agree.
If you want a confort historical drama with some similarities to this then watch wonderland of love.

yeah, But this kind of ending is just bad. If the goal was a sad ending then do the sad ending. If the goal is a happy ending then do a happy ending.

But doing a sad ending and in the last seconds transforming it into a happy ending that goes against all logic and not explaining how it is possible is just bad.

I mean that in a lot of dramas they build up a sad ending and then in the last seconds of the drama they invent a happy ending without explaining how it is possible and that normaly contradicts common sense.
