This has really dropped off a cliff for me, falling from one of my favorites to one I put up with for Andy Wu's…
sadly i have to agree. perhaps if they had taken the angle/script to explore Bai Lang's insecurities deeper (alongside a better use of Bai Lang's pov) and the effect it has on his thoughts it might have salvaged the flow and plot.
i thought it might be interesting to have delved into Xun An's backstory and his motivations a little deeper too - like any upbringing or reason for why he acted the way he did in the past and then now. maybe they're keeping those for the next episode but i felt that it deserves its place in this episode somehow.
The second couple hasnt moved at all (no emotional progress or more info for the audience to understand them better). i hope they dont info dump us at one shot later on, would prefer to gradually explore them.
I definitely like it so far. I don't mind a few DeanPharm scenes here and there, but if they get a lot of screen…
on a sidenote, it seems like Win's brother may have a love story as well? the foreshadowing and trailer for ep2 screams to us that Win's elder brother and his swim club mate? are game buddies who talk to one another.
like- it doesn't even make sense, why would you play that in their intimate scene :((
agree with this - im reasoning it with myself that it's a mixed traumatic-exhilarating experience for Team at least. in the novel, at this point in time during the swimming club camp, Team is 3months away from adulthood legally. oops
I'm going to pretend this is episode 12.5, it's beautiful, I love it. As I was secretly hoping for something from…
Wat/AJ/ deserves a love story. what was all that set up at the food stalls, staff room, BEACH scene and night bbq scene for? everyone (except 1 dude) was in pairs.
i can almost legitly call them third couple of the show (alongside the uncle and teacher pair)
okay they're just not saying it outright but what's with this teacher Sani x student Wat do they not deserve some concluding scenes??!!
something like:
'teacher sani.. i explored what i like through you. And turns out i explored who i like as well. Can you look at me differently, not as a boy but as a man after i graduate?'
'Wat, concentrate on your studies, don't think about this please. There are more important things for you to be doing.'
----End of graduation day, Wat finds Teacher Sani and brings her to a garden hidden from view----
'I now know that i really am nothing much for you to look at, can you wait for me to be worthy of your time? i will work hard..'
'Wat, work hard and explore your talents for yourself, not for me or anyone else.'
'... alright, I kno---'
(sudden peck on cheek by Sani)
'also, now that you're no longer my student, we don't have to meet in school actually.'
'... teacher Sani...'
'P'Sani or Sani will do. Bye for now Wat, i have some work to clear for today. Let's have papaya salad another day' (walks off into the distance)
(touches own cheek with fingers, while staring at her backview)
I tried to make a guess on how this was going to play out from the teaser we saw last week.I was impressed 10X…
not sure if it's just me but someone HAS to call Cake out for the 'toxicity' - he's just straight up being possessive of Eiw and not making sense of why (which puzzles me cos he obviously looks like he knows his feelings by now).
acting is excellent, scripting flow is good but logic is a bit blurry - Cake's dialogue on the stairs - wanting the relationship to 'stay the same forever' makes sense for the character, but the realization that this does not work out anymore and a NEW relationship dynamic needs to be defined - is not being shown to us. Perhaps in the next episode this realisation will come and he'll be aware of how toxic this possessiveness without 'claiming rights' is.
i.e i need cake to realise that he doesnt want Eiw to *need him (Cake) only* in his life - but that he wants Eiw to *want him only* as that special someone.
a relationship based solely on need and one of desire as well is very different.
Eiw, pls call his ass out and scold the #(&^#$( out of Cake's senses next ep, dont let him get you that easily!
sidenote: can i have Kung and Noey to end up together PLEASE
I see a lot of people saying it took to long to get to present day and obviously we are all entitled to our opinions…
agree with this! however they did open up many different details/issues about Eiw that i dont think they are intending/have the time to fill the holes up. e.g. father not being around and the reason/aftermath etc, how the both of them dealt with other people looking at them differently (was present in ep1 and 2 but there should have been development).
dont think these would be revisited sadly..
if they are not intending to cover these holes, maybe having Cake leave 1 or 2 ep earlier would suffice - the side storyline for Eiw's sister wasnt done well too.
my side wishlist is for one of Eiw's friends to end up with one of Cake's friends - but that's minor. Cake's sister likes Eiw's brother (acted by Prem) but nah i dont think she has much hope cos Boun is lurking around at the corner.
Do you think Cake is aware that he has a liking for Eiw now? with the 4 years of open education and realization while apart..
I had no idea Afterday wrote this. Imagine writing a romance and getting to star in it.
love her work! she HAS TO WRITE MORE
no offence but she should.. stick to writing. in my perfect world i'd have that girl who plays Dean's sister (from Until We Meet Again) to take this role instead
thankfully her role doesnt seem overly huge in the grand scheme of things so all's great
Now that we've gotten Eiw and Cake to 2011, there are all sorts of things I'm hoping to see, expecting to see,…
this!
im also curious on what the post-it says on Cake's photowall of Eiw in America.
Google translate is giving me anything from 'day of drama' to 'lonely' --- cos the writing is not in easy-to-translate type font but handwritten so it could be anything, really.
It was a warm fuzzy show! My biggest complaint is the sudden/inexplicable turnaround for the parent's attitude. Also only the father got 'called out' for wanting face - mom didn't get no shade for her controlling behaviour
Other than that, the chemistry and acting, expressions are not bad, esp given that it's the first gig for some of the actors.
Now I'm going to end up either overjoyed or disappointed depending on whether Ye Guang's parents end up having…
it will probably happen - whether it's acceptable a not depends on the script's tightness. I've seen good ones happen in 1 episode before, though i must say it's quite difficult. I'd like to see a change in behavior cos of realisation but yet with a nuanced tension - not all has changed and they're growing etc
blindly hoping it will happen in season 2come on we need a season 2
sadly i might have to agree. not just about precedence but apparently there's some backlash on the funders/producers of the show (not too clear about it, u can see earlier comments about it) cos it's a Taiwanese show yet the main funder and premiere of it is on China's platform..

'Mom, don't you want to be with your son??!!!'
'My son, let's be frank'
'I raised you until you became an adult.'
'i don't want to deal with you anymore'
i cannot
it's like 'i don't watch this show cos the actor hates drinking mushroom soup'
??!!
i can almost legitly call them third couple of the show (alongside the uncle and teacher pair)

I'm not going to argue if this is appropriate or not - people can choose not to watch/read her stuff
I'm alright for it since it's a drama/show for entertainment, not a documentary or educational biography.
Most of us are just here for the toxicity and how it actually plays out in her world~
My 2cents
