On the giving back from Ye, i think the student council thing is a plot device waiting to explode soon so we might see how Ye gives.

At this age (high school) individuals are more concerned about expressing themselves so the other party knows their feelings (as opposed to cold hearted adults like us who have to consider emotional investment and possible reciprocation cos there aint much love left to give after X years).
My point is, Ye accepting Xu's gift and expressing, wanting to connect and be more intimate with him is kinda a gift for Xu already (for high schoolers' maturity - i repeat)

agree - i thought that ep 3 had a sudden jump in how Zhang and Guang interacted - more scenes to show them easing up to interact with one another at school would help

It's the first kiss on the shooting set and the director wanted to keep the 'first bashful kiss' feels so she told them not to practice kiss (but they did just before the scene)

So in a way it was a first intimate contact in that manner for them

Regarding 2 - ' it's for your own good ' trope. Not sure what failed pursuits the dad is trying to live through his son, or what kind of trophy son he needs to show off to his peers. Mom is showing some miniscule protectiveness and love but it ain't amounting to anything if all she has is intention and not action (plus she adds to the stress)

3 - panic, yes. Gay panic? Don't see it haha. Qizhang has been liking YeGuang for so long, if anything i feel it's more like heart racing + hormones

Fun fact YeGuang actor said in an interview that when they practice kiss for the scene (not a spoiler, we know it's coming cos the trailer showed it), his healthwatch thing showed that his heart rate went up to 144
(Was also his own first kiss)

Definitely a surprise given that they're mostly newbies (ye guang's actor contributed his own first kiss for this drama too - that's how young they are)

Casting choice was great, there's a healthy amount of similar traits of actors and their characters for the energy to be realistic

Kudos to the director for sharp eyes and knowing how to draw all these out!

I still have gripes about some sloppy editing but it's gotten better for the new eps

agree with the editing and the stiff acting (more pronounced in solo scenes, generally not as bad for duo/group scenes) . Think the actors don't have that much acting experience under their belt at the moment.

but yeah the couple dynamics are great (casting well done), the script and plot decent, and the music is apt! the song lyrics also seem to talk about the first couple's relationship
